What are the advantages in doing so? Do most of you guys do this? I'd prefer not to but there's nothing I'd hate more than to NOT select 30-team control only to find out there's a huge issue 85 games into my franchise that I cannot fix.

Any reason to control all 30 teams?
I know in years past it was good to control all 30 teams in order to keep lineups realistic and prevent ridiculous trades. I like to believe we are past those days, but I'm not sure. I am almost ready to start my franchise but before I do I need to decide whether or not to control all 30 teams.

I can tell you this, there is no disadvantage for using it. -
Re: Any reason to control all 30 teams?
Definitely do it. This is the first time I've done 30 team control and I'm glad I did because the trade logic is just horrific. Just an example, the Cardinals offered Matt Holliday to the Astros for Scott Feldman...Comment

Re: Any reason to control all 30 teams?
Couldnt agree more. I use 30 team control, not to be confused with CPU roster control or whatever that option is called, and just set everything for the other 29 teams to auto, check the pending transactions area everyday and love every second of it.Comment

Re: Any reason to control all 30 teams?
I started a franchise with the Cleveland Indians and am 13 games in. I used the OFSM Rosters with the 25 man control. Not only are a bunch of MLB start players in triple A which makes me want to restart but after seeing everyone suggest to do all 30 teams I may restart... not sure if I should.
I haven't played the show since 12 so I am rusty... if I control all 30 teams though I don't want to manage anything but the team I am playing and "GMing"... just curious on why this seems to be the common consensus to do this?Comment

How do the lineups change with 30 team control?Ryan Spencer

Re: Any reason to control all 30 teams?
Well, if I remember correctly from last year there was one disadvantage.
There was no way to simulate the draft for the other 29 teams that you don't officially control. Therefore the only way to do the draft was to simulate the entire thing, for all teams (including the one you play with and control). Has this been changed this year?Comment

You can control as much or as little as you want. The lineups will get out of order allowing the CPU to manage player fatigue and suchComment

Re: Any reason to control all 30 teams?
Okay, I'm doing 30-team control. But I can't remember which options I need to set to auto and which one's I need to keep manual. And isn't there a way to set it for all teams quickly, rather than going in team-by-team and setting auto on every option?Comment

Re: Any reason to control all 30 teams?
Oh, yeah. I forgot about that. I don't mind that too much though. But I'm stuck in these options menus. They are a bit confusing to say the least. I have two profiles. One that has everything set to manual that I use for the Cubs and another called "CPU All Auto" that has everything set to auto. But when I switch to another team besides the Cubs and go into the "game specific options" is says that everything is manual. And I can't for the life of me figure out how to manually injure players like we could the past couple years. In the end I just want to make sure that the CPU isn't pulling crazy and insane trades and that big league players don't get stuck in the minors. That's really the primary reason I like 30-team control. But I'm starting to question if it's too much.Comment

Re: Any reason to control all 30 teams?
Make sure you have associated the CPU All Auto profile with all of the other teams. There is a tab/box in the profile part where you can do that.
Also, when you are checking the Game Specific Options, make sure you're actually looking at the other profile... I made that mistake early on.Comment

Re: Any reason to control all 30 teams?
Not sure if there's another way, but it only takes about 30-45 seconds to manually simulate those games.Comment
