Hitting With No Strike Zone
How do you guys feel about turning off the strike zone while hitting? I tried it today and I'm loving it. I've been seeing the ball way better and getting more hits, drawing more walks, and winning more ball games. If anyone hasn't tried it, I'd recommend it.Chicago Bulls | Chicago Bears | Chicago White Sox | Chicago BlackhawksTags: None -

I turned it off during 12. It took a little while to get used to, but once I did I never went back.Comment

Re: Hitting With No Strike Zone
Yeah, I have as much turned off as possible. I leave hot cold zones on "fade" as a bit of 'scouting info', but other than that: no ball marker, no strike zone.
This goes for pitching as well as hitting.
Silly as it sounds, I think it's a bit more realistic to have to 'feel' for the edge of the strike zone when pitching...Comment

Wouldn't have it any other way.Comment

Re: Hitting With No Strike Zone
The split second the strike zone disappears after the pitch is thrown, would throw me off sometimes. I just press R3 if i needed a refresh on where strike zone isComment

Re: Hitting With No Strike Zone
I did this year and love it. It makes it a bit tougher with pulse pitching which is good and i find i'm drawing many more walks with less to confuse my eyes.Comment

Re: Hitting With No Strike Zone
With the fact that the broadside of a barn is completely safe when I am at the plate. the last thing I would have thought to do is turn off all my hitting aids.
BUT TRUTH IS best tip I have read here on OS granted my hitting numbers are still bad the one thing I did notice is with all aids off I tend to be naturally more patient. I can at least now chip the paint on the barn.BOOMER..Sooner!Comment

I play like this as well only I never got the fading hot/cold zoned to show.
How does this work?

Re: Hitting With No Strike Zone
I use a timing swing with the strike zone preview and I don't use the guess pitch and the strike zone is gone when the ball is pitched. I use the preview as a visual reminder in my mind that if it's not in that area I won't swing, of course that doesn't always happen but it helps focus on the pitch and type of pitch in most cases. When you come to a fork in the road, take it..... Re: Hitting With No Strike Zone
How are you guys getting the hot/cold zones to show with strike zone turned off? It's the only reason I have strike zone turned on at this point.Comment

Re: Hitting With No Strike Zone
There is a "preview" option for hot/cold zones. They only appear before the first pitch of an at-bat is thrown and then it disappears.Comment

Re: Hitting With No Strike Zone
I've wanted to try this but I tend to use the outline as a border. One of these days i'll try it. I already play on HOF with no guess pitch so really the least of my worries is the strike zone. Not like the ump calls the zone correctly anyway lolComment
