Now I know someone will come in here and say "he can still have 10 saves and that huge ERA" and that person would be correct, but as baseball fans know, that is highly highly unlikely for a situation like that to happen. Anyways, when will the simmed stats ever more reflect real life? Simmed scores have always been out of hand.

Same old simulation problems in franchise
I just completed the 2016 draft in my braves franchise (All-Star using TNK sliders). I simulate most of the games and I am still seeing the inflated ERA's for pitchers when simming. The most glaring example I have found is kimbrel. He has pitched 11 and 1/3 innings on the season (why has he only pitched 11 n 1/3 into the first week of june). His line is a 7.15 ERA with 9 ER and 9 Ks, but he still has 10 saves.

Go look at the games played and see how many runs he gave up in his blown save. And how many is every other game. -
Re: Same old simulation problems in franchise
So you are counting on him giving up a grand slam? There is a minor problem with ERA for closers. I am in year 2 of my O's franchise. Just finished the All Star game and the closer for Detroit leads the AL in saves (39 I think) with a ERA over 4. I think it may be close to or over 5 but I know for sure it is over 4. Not game breaking but it is an issue. I haven't really checked other teams so if he is the only one then it is not a big deal.Comment

Re: Same old simulation problems in franchise
Im not sure where you are getting one off month? He's pitched 11 innings at the first week of June. Thats all or April, May and the first part of June.Last edited by CJ10; 06-15-2014, 09:19 AM.Comment

Re: Same old simulation problems in franchise
I think you are missing the point. Its not so much the ERA even though its not realistic, its the only having 11 n 1/3 innings pitched after the first 2 months and one week of the season.Comment

Re: Same old simulation problems in franchise
Are you playing as the Braves? If not how do you know he hasnt been hurt? Even if you are, Kimbrel is always in the top 3 closer in the 5+ seasons ive played. You cant make a judgment off of one odd stat.Comment

Re: Same old simulation problems in franchise
Yes I play as the braves, he hasnt been hurt. He is just the example that I am using. There are a ton of my pitchers with 4 and 5+ ERA that are 90 plus rated guys. I get realistic outcomes when I actually play with them, but when the games are simmed they are getting blow up.Comment

I sim a lot, but I haven't noticed anything too out of the ordinary league-wide. There are random outliers, but those are to be expectedComment

Re: Same old simulation problems in franchise
1 bad inning by a closer and the ERA is through the roof. Give up a Grand Slam and you'll have to be perfect in your next 8 outings to have an ERA of 4.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

This is Kimbrel we are talking about, not a has been Nathan or a no better than avg romo lol.Comment

Re: Same old simulation problems in franchise
This isnt about the ERA though, its about the lack of innings pitched 1/3 of the way into the season.Comment

Re: Same old simulation problems in franchise
Are there separate sliders you can set for simming? I dont have the time or the patience to change them back and forth when I wanna sim against when I wanna play lol!Comment

Re: Same old simulation problems in franchise
I would think adjusting the CPU sliders would affect sims maybe. I'm not sure on that though.
If you're worried about IP from your Closer, you need closer scores. They'll only put a closer in, in a sim, if it's a save situation.Comment
