TV Broadcasters (the good ones anyway) actually do all those things, too. So if that's what you mean then I am 100% on board with that.

Hee are two examples, One is from mlb.tv with radio overlay, other is a good example of video game descriptive pbp, notice especially how Miller tells you the count almost all the time! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g8y3SHtomn8 And: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gIb6KMAyQGY
1458, not counting playoffs, that's the number of games in a row I haven't missed! Go Yanks!

I do support something being done, though.

But the regular commentary? It should not sound anything like radio. There is a reason radio commentators give those detailed descriptions: they have to. A listener can't see anything, so their narration is the only insight one has into the game. Television (and video gaming) are not radio. I can already see and play the things happening on the screen, there is no need to also hear them.

The Show's commentators talk way too much. The team rambles on and explains things that do not require any explanation. Every line sounds like the commentators are seeing baseball played for the very first time.

For example, there's literally a two-line analysis on a dropped third strike in the game. I can't even remember the last time real life TV broadcasters even acknowledged a dropped third strike. It doesn't happen. TV broadcasters let the game speak for itself. Their job is not to narrate, but to analyze and discuss.

I'd like to see this replicated in The Show: a more hands-off approach in regards to commentary. Less narration and examination of every tiny micro-event within the game, more broad-view analysis and discussion.

No more dissecting a single curveball for an entire minute, complimented by a slow-motion replay of this incredible pitch. Instead, just mention that the curveball gave me my 5th strikeout, and leave it at that. Or tell me something I don't know. How many swings-and-misses have I gotten with the curveball so far (an actual number, not just some blanket generalization that fits anywhere).

If you look at the games with critically acclaimed commentary, you see they already do this. 75% of the time, NBA 2k commentators aren't even talking about what's going on. They are analyzing a player's season, the team's season, some random anecdotes about the player, team, manager, etc...

Let the game speak for itself.
        Excellent post!!

YES! That second link is EXACTLY what I'm talking about, it's EXACTLY what I'd like to see more of in The Show. Notice for the entire first 2 minutes the announcers are just continuously talking about the Brewers and other things. The batter swings and misses, several pitches go to several places, but not once do the commentators stop and narrate the at-bat. They just go right along doing there thing.

And then at 3:20, the PBP guy talks about C.C. and his opinion of him. He does NOT stop and rant about how the umpire didn't call the high fastball for 2-1. He does not overanalyze the hitter's count. None of that matters. I know what a hitter's count is already. He just focuses on continuing his analyses while the game plays on.

When I play The Show, this is what i feel like I'm hearing:

"That was a perfect slider. It was in the perfect place and it was so perfect. If I had a daughter, I'd want her to marry someone just like that slider."

"WOW that pitch hit the dirt! I can't believe that would happen ever! This pitcher clearly sucks!"

"WHOA that fastball was really fast. The batter completely missed that one. Does he even belong in the Major Leagues? I'll answer that: no!"

"Look at the catcher as he catches stuff! So surprising! And then he threw to first base! I've never seen that before!"

Obviously that's an exaggerative and caricature-ish representation, but there's just no purpose for these types of statements at all. I know the fastball was fast, I can see the speed posted. Pitchers pitch inside sometimes. And yes, catchers do catch things. They do that quite often.

In summary, I just want a much stronger focus on analysis, and more attention paid to the key parts of the game, instead of having "a line for everything."

I know, that commentary team was amazing, it was Jon Miller and Joe" Morgan, and of course, it was a 2k game. What gives me hope is they talked like that all the way back in 2004 and 05 for the ps2!!! So imagine what can be done now! I used to play that game not for how it looked, but for how it sounded! Did you see how awesome it was when Jon kept telling us, "sheets into the wined and pitch." That's what I want to see more of! btw, loved fan questions!

SCEA needs to add the Mets home/away blue alternate jerseys. Also, they need to bring back the alternate home white jersey (Can't even fathom why this was removed to begin with...)

If that doesn't happen I will be playing MLB 14 for another year with updated rosters.

After watching the 2k footage,I really want Jon Miller in The Show. He's so incredibly natural and energized in his VO. Especially compared to Morgan who seems fairly lethargic. Miller is a hall of famer and that clip shows why.

Re: MLB 15 The Show: What needs to change in order for you to purchase

Add WAR to the wealth of stats they provide along with a new 'League Leader' category for it, maybe even add things like FIP and OPS+ as well, especially in RTTS. Also, add glove physics for tags and catches. I don't need full arm, Madden-like joke physics--I just want the glove to stop going through players. Maybe allow Zone users to keep moving the PCI during the swing as well.

Bring back the budget and marketing from the PS3 versions for Franchise. Somehow re-vamp the RTTS base-stealing and pickoff mechanics, too.

Those improvements would be enough to get me to buy it next year.

Dreaming big--MiLB parks. That would be crazy. Historic parks, too. Also, bring back the old pre-game broadcast where they highlighted key players before the game...

Jimmy, I know!! I really want Miller too! The scary thing is that broadcast was like that on ps2, started with the 2004 game! He did the radio stile pbp I want in the show as well! Notice how when he wasn't talking about something else, he almost always told us, "the pitch, Sheets into the wined." Awesome!

They used to go down the lineups and tell you them, wish they'd bring that back, that was cool! Now they just show it and move on in 2 seconds.

I would like to see voice actors like the guys used in the NFL 2k series. The commentary needs to be believable with some degree of passion behind it. Having actual baseball commentators doing it does not automatically authenticate it.

For me the Red Sox need to put together a good team. I lost interest in the game due to their struggles in real life.
