Re: MLB 15 The Show: What needs to change in order for you to purchase

Off the top of my head.... in no specific order...not specifically for 15, but something that the team should strive for in future iterations. There's definitely more, but these are the things that immediately come to mind.

    Specifically for 15:
Outfielder and Infielder reactions, need more urgency reactions, situational awareness*
*People are going to say you have to prefill your throws (I do this, able to turn double plays more frequently), etc. but lack of urgency from fielder also happens with the CPU. Lack of situation awareness by fielders is problematic (both Player and CPU). Close plays at first, close plays at different bases because the fielder lacks awareness for the situation (i.e. taking his sweet time to throw to a bag, both Player and CPU). Sometimes lack of urgency reaction also happens when you prefill your throws.

Practice mode for running bases (not RTTS because I don't play RTTS, but regular exhibition, franchise mode base running)

    Practice mode for stealing bases
(not RTTS because I don't play RTTS, but regular exhibition, franchise mode base running)

Practice mode for situational stealing (not RTTS because I don't play RTTS, but regular exhibition, franchise mode base running)

    MLB the Showfuture iterations
Real time presentation no more cut scenes
Variable animations (i.e. players sliding into second loses his helmet, everyone does the same animation. Would like to see at least 15-20 or so situational animation (for different situations), would like to see players call time and go pick up his helmet or call time and remove his arm pad/shin guard and hand it to either the ball boy or first base coach (10-15 different animation for these type of situation so it doesn't look like it's the same animation each and every single time). There should be a first base coach talking to the runner at first all in real time, etc.)
Awareness (i.e. Foul ball pop up, rather than looking at whether the catcher/1st/3rd baseman catches the ball in foul territory, the batter looks towards the outfield. Ball in the dirt, catcher grabs the ball and repeatedly look towards 1st and 3rd even if there is no one on 3rd.

Honestly, I couldn't agree more. I'm still going to buy the game because it's really the only game I play, but the gameplay needs some SERIOUS work.

      - Manufactured rallies - I can't express how many CPU-fabricated rallies I've seen. The user scores only to see the CPU score the very next inning. Is your team batting average .147? Don't worry, because your team ERA will be 1.09 to balance things out. Are you up by 3 runs in the ninth? Oh, let's just have the CPU score 2 runs and have the tying run on third base just to keep things interesting. It's not realistic at all.

      - Animations - how many fly balls have we been camped under only to see the outfielder go into an animation and let the fly drop in front of him for a 3-base error? This needs to stop.

      - Sportscenter plays - I'm tired of smashing a ball into the gap only to see the outfielder lay out AT LEAST ONCE A GAME to rob me of extra bases? But if the user tries to dive? Yeah, that's going past you.

        1. Eliminate the blue ring under players with auto field/manual throwing
        2. Bring back the toggle for the HR camera to be turned off if we want
        3. Bring a weekly wrap up show...in the vein of Quick Pitch with highlights, races, players and pitchers of the week, top 5 plays etc. I want my franchise to feel alive and I also really want to see how the rest of the league is doing in a media/broadcast like MLB network presentation package. That to me would scream Next Gen.
        4. Expand and give even more customization options for quick counts. I love this feature and play with it exclusively now. I would like though some options to have 1-0 counts, 0-1 counts.
        5. Tune the lazy fielder animations as sometimes guys get extra bases/base hits when the fielders should have a lot more urgency in getting to the ball as well as throwing the ball.
        6. Improve the Catcher animations as they are laser fast and far too quick sometimes in getting up and throwing out players on swinging bunts etc. It needs some tuning.

That is really it off the top of my head. Gameplay wise I love this series and feel it is about as close to real life as a video sports game can get!!!
I agree. I think the game is great but if they could have what you said at #3 this would be far and away the #1 sports game and make me play it so much more. Overall the game is great and if they add this it just makes them greater.

I came to the conclusion that if some aspects didn't improve that I'll skip MLB 15 completely.

Will you buy regardless? Or what do you want improved in order for you to take the plunge and purchase MLB 15.

          Things I need changed:

Framerate. This is major and probably the biggest dissapointment of MLB 14. It happens randomly to me in any stadium. Not sure what the cause is, but the 1000+ different spectators are overkill IMO, 500 would've look just as good and the individual grass blades uses more memory and processing power compared to the actual overall graphical improvement it brings to the game.

Sim stats. I gave up on my franchise and Rtts when I heard that once you get to 2020 stats are just waaaay off. What's the point then developing young prospects...and this basically breaks the option to continue franchise/rtts from one MLB 14 to 15 etc.

Graphics. The graphics is not bad at all, and at some stages it's beautiful. But it doesn't look like a next gen game at all. IMO it doesn't really look that much better than a PS3 version of the game.

Lighting. Go to the bullpen at Citi Field and you'll see what I mean.

Commentators. This has been discussed quite a bit, and I'm really tired with the same lines i.e. "That a major league pop up, as it's waaaaaay up there" blah blah

Rtts. This needs an overhaul, it can be so much more than just going from one game to the other and upgrading your stats. Have a look at NBA 2k's myplayer mode.

MLB 14 The Show is a good game, make no mistake. But it's been the same game for quite some time now with no major improvements.
I find ot odd graphics are so important to you, the show is already a good lookin game....we are at a point of diminishing returns for graphics, a lot more can be improved that is meanigfull then graphics.

For me it's Franchise mode and RTTS, it never feels like I am a part of a, league, where is the league news? Where are headlines that show another team has won 8 straight, or made a big trade or a star got injured? Franchise needs a total presentation overhaul IMO, same with RTTS. I like to get news feeds of the goings on in the league, and maybe even trade rumours and what not.

Of course it is not a major leap yet.....it is a ps3 version port, 2015 is when you will see next gen slowly pull away from the current early launch cross gen madness. They got everything working well feature complete in 9 months....look at NHL>

At risk of soundling like a show fanboy, I cannot see how anyone would have an ultimatum over the best sports franchise over these things like graphics? The show is stellar, unless they make a major development mistake that really effects the game or gameplay, this is 1 game that deserves a yearly purchase IMO, especially now being the first game ever to allow year to year save transfers.

Graphics need to improve, specifically the player models.
              Need more accessories.
Lazy outfielder animations are extremely annoying.
More improvements to RTTS, specifically some off field stuff, nothing to dramatic.
Schedules beyond 2014 need some serious fixing.

Either way i'll be buying MLB 15 the Show first day though, gotta get my fix.

Re: MLB 15 The Show: What needs to change in order for you to purchase

Whether you want to call it an "ultimatum list" or whatever - here's what I'd like to see in MLB15. I'm often a 50/50 for getting the next game, especially in consecutive games, so this isn't a "no buy unless..." list because that depends on factors outside of the developer's control. More like a "I'd be tempted to get it ASAP if..." list.

Sim stats/simming in general, I'd like to see improvement. This includes Fast Forward mode, which also applies to RTTS/Player Lock mode.

Partial Quick Count mode. For example, maybe I want to Quick Count on hitting, but full PAs for pitching, or vice versa.

Slower fielders in the outfield, but more urgent play on the infield. Those lazy/slow starting throws have to go, especially when an above average speed guy is busting it down the line, and since ALL players bust it down the line even on routine plays, the slow throwing motions have REALLY got to go. I know some throws will take more time, etc, but even those the fielder doesn't seem to really be trying to get it off as fast as possible.

Slow down the runners. Extra base hits are still there if the fielders aren't gobbling up grass in the outfield with no problem and zones of the field that are hard to defend/cut off are actually there. Would also help offset some of the lazy/slow throwing motions.

More batter tendencies (even if "hidden") and pitchers with actual G/F ratings and/or make HR/9 meaningful in actual played games, not just in the sim engine.

The "lean on the wall and take my time getting back into the game" animation has to go, too. If a high reaction, high speed outfielder cut it off, don't make him lean on the wall and take his time getting off of it. It should be a quicker action (especially if he's got good fielding ratings) because he's got his mind on getting the relay started or maybe cut down a greedy runner.

Outfielders need to stop giving up at times if they fail to make a effort play at/near the wall. I saw a RF try to make a leap at the wall, the ball hit off the wall, and the RF just stood there while the ball bounced at his feet. He could have picked it up and threw it. Instead, he watched it as his CF had to run over and get it back in. This was with auto fielding, so no user input errors.

Of course, the budget issue fixed for PS3. Do whatever was done for fix it for the PS4 users. Getting +46% gains as the Marlins after just one DECENT year is a bit much. Didn't even make the playoffs.

For timing hitting - make the player ratings impact where the PCI is located vs the pitch instead of seemingly completely random. For classic pitching, could some of the extreme results be tapered? Sometimes it seems like it's either on the black, 3 feet off the target (even if it's a strike) or right down the middle.

Speaking of pitches down the middle...less of them? More mistakes out of the zone? That said, at least on higher difficulties, mistakes happen too much, imo. It's like they stop being major league pitchers. Seems like pitching difficulty for Classic should work on the CPU's intelligence at the plate. Ratings shouldn't be impacted, AI and interface inputs should be (on Classic, maybe holding down the button for max effort should create those wildly random results - or make each pitch and pitcher need different kinds of presses and base results on that).

A few things that need to change for me.

                    A. Create a Stadium/Create a Stadium/Create a Stadium!
                    B. Have wind speed mean something again. (Example: Wind blowing in at Wrigley at 22mph there should be next to no HR's let alone 6 in a game at 1 to dead CF by Darwin Barney)
                    C. Can you please bring back photos of real players instead of generic when they get traded? (I much rather see for example Beckham with his real picture on the Angels with his Sox hat on rather than generic picture with a Angels hat)
                    D. Simplify base running? One button running like in the old MVP would be amazing!
Other than these things game is amazing as always!

Re: MLB 15 The Show: What needs to change in order for you to purchase

Sadly I'll probably be passing on anymore show yearly purchases, I have bought the show since 07.
For me and it's been mentioned before also but franchise is DRY, unattached, no man's land, feel like I'm stuck on an island in the middle of the ocean... Yadda yadda yadda.. You get the picture, same with rtts.
Personally I'm surprised I have bought it this many years in a row. My major gripe you ask? Stats!!!
I'll say it again, I am dumbfounded that a game with this much detail just utterly fails at Stat tracking. Yes I know it couldn't be done with the game on the ps3 without a total rewrite of the code. (I may have misstated that, if so I apologize) now I have my own theory on that reason. Either way it is just ridiculous to me!!!
Obviously there's many good ideas out there on how they can raise their game when it comes to franchise and rtts, but for me I won't even consider buying anymore until there are a full assortment of stats tracked and saved year to year AND presented in a reasonable fashion and sorted much more efficiently.
Unfortunately I have my doubts this will happen anytime soon, but time will tell and I will stay on the sidelines until that happens.

MLB 15 The Show: What needs to change in order for you to purchase

                        One thing.

                        Bring back Move batting.

Seems like with the awesome new camera you should be able to actually track a swing- angle, arc, position in the zone etc., and adapt that to major league strength/speed.

Even though it was only contact hitting before, it was still the Move that made this my go to game.

You could always leave the old settings for someone who just wants to sit on the couch and twitch the Move at the right moment....

Honestly, it's boring hitting with sticks and without the ability to stand up in my living room and swing away, I'm probably done.

Other than that, I'm impressed with the port and only expect things to get better as they fully transition to next-gen.

Love the outfielder view in RTTS, though wish the ball was a little lower in your field of view ( more centered, like you were really looking at it)
Maybe adapt that view for infield pop ups, too.

The only thing they need to change isn't something they need to change. I just want Sounds of the Show back. I didn't think it would be that big of a deal, but I've just been unmotivated to play it consistently without being able to hear my music in-game.

Outside of that, I'm happy with everything else

-Improved pitching, batting, and fielding animations
                            -improved framerates
-Actual Single A ball a la MVP baseball 05
-More stadium control, even going as far as to build a new stadium for your team.
                            -Relocation
                            -Expansion mode
-A rating revolving around how hard a player plays. I'm tired of every. single. player. running out every single hit like they desperately need to get on. What's a routine groundout IRL, is an infield single in the game
-More player customization options, more hairs, more beards, more gloves/shoes/bats(size/weight, changes bat speed and compactness of swing etc) etc.

2 teams I love to play with cause they are small market are Oakland and Tampa but just can't get into it because of their poor stadiums. They really need create a Stadium.

Pretty much this stuff. As a guy that's new to the Playstation, and therefore has been stuck playing MLB 2K over the past few years, this game isn't stale at all to me. It's been amazing getting to play a legitimate baseball game. But these additions above would be nice.

Sidenote: Is there a way to cut off throws? Not throw to the cutoff man but like if I throw home and want to cut it off to get a guy out at 3rd, is there currently a way to do that? There definitely should be.

And anyway to simplify baserunning a bit would be greatly appreciated. That's easily been my biggest adjustment playing The Show for the first time. It's very difficult to control multiple baserunners at once compared to how it worked in MVP and 2K.
