Re: Sounds of the Show Feedback

I just wanted to thank the entire OS community for having a voice on this. it is good to see that someone actually cares about this feature. If it were up to another site this would go like a tumbleweed through a ghost town.

This is a feature that a lot of us have slaved over year after year since it was introduced back in 09 i do believe or was it 10? either way ever since then we have all loved it and worked tirelessly in our own ways to make this feature and this game our own.

the only thing i would love to see is that we have CD support, due to all that i have are 100s' of cds to choose from when it comes to my music. mp3 support is great but for some of us (minority i know) still love our CD's and will never change on that...

either way just bring it back to us on PS4 without this feature this game is imo soulless.

Re: Sounds of the Show Feedback

I will base my answers on previous to this year with the switch to Ps4, although once we are able to import mp3 to the Ps4 I will be adding if possible.

•Do you use Sound of the Show? If so, how extensively? (anywhere from assigning just your created player’s walkup music to assigning all Music and/or Yell and Chant categories for all players and teams)

Yes, I was part of the thread for creating realistic walk-ups for all players on this site - I go to the extent of finding minor leaguers walk-ups where I can. I use general chants and yells for teams - not so much players

•Do you find the Playlist Creator intuitive and easy to use?
Easy enough I guess, would prefer a way to separate by team

•How easy or difficult is the Music Editor to use?
Similar to above answer, have used it enough that I have no huge issue with it

•Do you record custom yells and/or chants? Do you import other yell and chant audio files?
I import - there are some good samples you can find out there

•Are there additional Music or Yell/Chant categories that you’d like to see for Players or Teams?
Separation of hits to doubles and triples.
Would like to see more extended pregame music as well as slightly longer interval for between innings music
Ability to insert starting pitchers music

•What changes or improvements would you like to see for this feature?
A better volume control or louder playback in game, did not use in MLB14 but 13 was too quiet
Ability to add player announcement sound to sample in over or with walkup music, would love to be able to use stadium specific PA announcers if we can get the sound from a source
Most important is more sound import slots - 1000 would give room to do most of what everyone is looking for

Re: Sounds of the Show Feedback

The past few years I used SotS on PS3 extensively. Like others I assigned custom walk-ups and pitcher entrances to every player I possibly could as well as custom intro and inning break music for each stadium. Not being able to find a good source of Gary Pressy organ music to really make virtual Wrigley Field come alive during games is frustrating, but hearing the WGN or CSN Chicgao themes play whenever I would open a game at Wrigley would never get old for me. And hearing "Go, Cubs, Go" whenever I won a game at Wrigley? The best.

The Playlist Creator was always easy for me to use, no complaints there. The Music Editor was time-consuming, and I could see how it could spook some users away with it's interface, but I thought the rewards were definitely worth the time and effort it took to get sound clips timed correctly. If you can improve the user-friendliness of the Music Editor without removing features then that would be great. Otherwise I would say since it's not broken, don't change it.

I never used the custom yells feature, but I did use the custom chants one. I feel you guys do a great job with the included fan heckling and crowd noise already, so being able to add even more authentic chants is wonderful. I could live with you guys sacrificing this feature if you had to, but if you can keep it then that's neato. Other than that I can't think of any changes or improvements at the moment.

I'm not sure what Sony's plans are for music/audio file support on PS4 is over the next 6 months, but if they do bring it back then I would love to see Sounds of the Show return for MLB 15 The Show on PS4 next year. Here's hoping they add it sooner than later so you guys have ample time to develop it for next year's game.

                  - Yes. Walkup music is the most important to me and I would do it for every team/player if I can. Yells & chants are that important to me. I'd also like pitching entrance music, home run specific music, and other action determined sounds (strikeouts, double plays, bad calls, etc.)

I don't recall the method to use it

Re: Sounds of the Show Feedback

Its used for every batter, there was even an MLB.com link that showed every batters walkup song and I was going to use that but I didn't buy MLB 13, when PS4 was announced. I have used SOTS also for every team pregame and between innings song for Fox Sports or Comcast theme music. Beyond that I haven't used SOTS, aside from team HR, Win and Loss, but as a change/improvement you need to bring in all authentic organ sounds from each team and mimic how they are used.

                      - I assigned them to most MLB players and a few stadiums when I was on PS3
                    • Do you find the Playlist Creator intuitive and easy to use?
                      - Easy to use, yes. Will be better if the song limit was expanded so we wouldn't have to lump multiple songs together.
                    • How easy or difficult is the Music Editor to use?
                      - Easy to use.

                      - I pulled these as an example from the Royals website:
'Countdown To Gametime', 'Play Ball', 'Generic Music In Ballpark' (a lot of slots for these would be nice), 'Royals Intentional Walk', 'Royals Score', 'Royals Take The Field', 'Royals Walk', 'Royals Lineup Introductions', 'Umpire Introductions', 'Visiting Strike Out', *Songs for individual video board or on field games if applicable (ex. Hot Dog Race, Kiss Cam, etc.)

                    • What changes or improvements would you like to see for this feature?
                      - More song slots, expanded song limit, and additional categories (see above)

Re: Sounds of the Show Feedback

My answer is emphatically YES to using the S.O.T.S feature. I have no problem using it and the only thing I would like to see added is a longer playlist than 499 or whatever it was. The lack of this feature was EXTREMELY disappointing to me this year. I can't tell you how much time I spent in the past just fixing my music to play at appropriate times during my game. This has added to my immersion in the game in ways I can't describe. I understand this isn't a big deal to most but to me it's borderline deal breaking. This game is the reason I own a PS4 instead of a xbox one. All I want is what I've always enjoyed. Please find some way to work around Sony's horrible omission of mp3 playback.

                        1. Yes, when I played on PS3 I used it quite extensively. I had team sounds and walk-up music for every team.

                        2. Playlist Creator is very easy to use.

                        3. Music Editor is also very easy to use.

                        4. I do not record custom yells or chants.

                        5. Nothing that I can think of.

                        6. The walk-up music plays too long once the batter is in the box. It doesn't stop until the pitcher begins his windup.

*I use SOTS. I use batter walk up music, relievers music, custom yells, chants, game intro music. I loved starting a new series away from my home (O.Co stadium). Reason being was that I could setup the home teams lineups with custom music for every player on the 25 man roster.
*I loved the process of getting the tracks just the way I liked them and assigning them to each player. It really made me fall in love with this game.
                          Please bring it back!

                            1) Do you use Sound of the Show? If so, how extensively? (anywhere from assigning just your created player’s walkup music to assigning all Music and/or Yell and Chant categories for all players and teams)

                            - First off, thank you Ramone. I have been waiting for the day to talk SOTS! I LIVE for Sounds of the Show!!! I only have a PS3 because of The Show and I only have The Show because I absolutely love compiling music for the game for SOTS. Quite simply, I didn't get a PS4 because of the lack of mp3 support. PLEASE...PLEASE keep SOTS and am begging you to see how we can still use this feature in '15 for PS4!!! SOTS makes this game unbelievable!!

I use EVERY SINGLE SLOT AVAILABLE in SOTS (even all player yells and team chants)! I put MONTHS into refining my walk-ups, entrances, and all other slots each year as I anticipate the game's release. I assign all music for all teams, all players, all slots before I even play my first game.

PLEASE DO NOT REMOVE ANY SLOT, CHANT, YELL...I USE THEM ALL!!! I use all three slots for every batter walk-up and every pitcher entrance.

I would love to be a community user advisor for SOTS..if you need one .

                            2) Do you find the Playlist Creator intuitive and easy to use?

                            - Very easy to use...no problems at all. Hopefully this year on PS4 there will be more available memory to add even more tracks that than the 499 or so.

                            3) How easy or difficult is the Music Editor to use?

                            - This I hope you guys could do away with. Have to group the songs in 3's and then cue up each song is a bit of a pain. As I mentioned before in the previous question, if there is a way to add more songs due to the increase in memory from PS3 to PS4 and do away with having to group songs in 3's that would be awesome. But if not, at least make the Music Editor a little more intuitive. Having to hold R2 to cue the songs to your starting point takes a lot of patience and time.

Trying to drop the track start points is way too sensitive. Constantly trying to make the song start at the right time. Most of the time the track starts too early or too late. It would be more effective if you could find a way for the Music Editor to show us (visually) exactly, to the exact sec, when the track starts. Right now the visual is not accurate and we have to listen for the start of the track which takes a lot of unnecessary time.

                            4) Do you record custom yells and/or chants? Do you import other yell and chant audio files?

                            - I import audio track yells and chants for all of the slots for each team and every individual player. I import a lot of team/player chants and team/player yells. Around 200 of them each year. I can't imagine many people record their own chants anymore. Allowing us to import our own mp3 chants and yells from an audio file is fantastic! My 2 cents on enhancing chants is have them timed more for situational events like when a baserunner is in scoring position or when a rally is going on to get the crowd into it or when a batter is in a hitters count (2-1 or 3-1).

                            5) Are there additional Music or Yell/Chant categories that you’d like to see for Players or Teams?

                            - Yes, one for a starting pitcher as they are throwing their warm-up pitches before the first batter steps in. A perfect time for this is to start the track as Matt introduces the starting pitcher with stat ISO. Right now there is only an entrance track that will only be played for when the pitcher enters in relief which would never happen for starting pitchers.

                            - New slot for foul balls
                            - New slot for mound visits
                            - New Stadium Announcer is much needed!
                            - New separate slot for a National Anthem (play the whole thing). Would love to put a custom anthem like my Orioles "Oooooo" like we do at Camden Yards
                            - In the broadcast presentation, give us the ability to replace the in-game music with a custom track when there is a HR replay showcasing a HR from a previous spot in the game. The in-game music gets stale quick and plays much louder than any other audio/sound in the game and becomes out-of-context with the rest of the presentation. It's just weird. I would just remove the music altogether and let the broadcasters voice-over the play itself. Right now, I just advance past the HR replay presentation because it keeps playing the in-game music.
                            - Let us put a custom track for the Player of The Game Topps Card animation as well. Same experience as the in-game music for a HR replay. In-game music gets stale.
                            - Also show more plays from the game from the Player of The Game...more AB's and even great fielding plays! Instead of just one swing from the game.
                            - Can we have the option of replacing all of the in-game music the comes with the game altogether? It's better used for the jukebox for front-end menus than in the games.
                            - Specific vendor slots would be cool. Can SCEA find really good vendor audio and add it into the game? Takes up many yell slots. Plus there isn't that much out there in regards to vendors for us to find. Vendors add a lot of real baseball life to the game atmosphere. The community several years ago had some good vendors and heckles yells but that was years ago.

                            6) What changes or improvements would you like to see for this feature?

                            - Let us create and use playlists for each slot. PLEASE, on each slot, give us the option of selecting a specific track OR give us a new option to play a playlist like EA does in NHL Hockey. Obviously for batter walk-ups and pitcher entrances..we will assign specific songs that they have in real life, but for other team slots, especially in between innings music, it would be awesome to play playlists that have several random songs. It keeps the presentation fresh with a jukebox style of 500+ random songs instead of getting bored with only one track for each half inning.

                            - Let the tracks play longer. In previous versions of The Show, especially on the "In Between Innings" slots, the songs would play a lot longer (until we hit the "X" button). The last few years, some songs play less than 5 secs and it is frustrating. I know it has to align with the outgoing animation so why not extend the animation longer like we had in '10 & '11 when it played longer animations and songs. Could you please bring this back and let us decide how long the track plays into the next animation?

                            - Add more vendors, heckles, yells, chants and improve them as well. Right now they are pretty weak in terms of how many play during a game and when they do...they sound weak and don't get you charged up.

                            - Add more organ related chants.

                            - Modify the base hit slot from only allowing 3 slots to letting us use a playlist that plays the tracks randomly. Playing 162 games and hearing the same 3 songs for each base hit can start to drive you nuts...where I just stopped using those slots altogether. An example of this is in EA Sports NHL Hockey...they give you an option of playing a specific song like The Show, but they also give the user an option to select a playlist that plays 500+ random songs that you rarely hear the same song twice in a few games.

                            - Make the chants/yells more situational...like the pitcher has an 0-2 count on the batter...we could put in a strikeout yell in...or vice versa.

-As mentioned before, please see if we can do without the Music Editor on the PS4 version for having to group songs in 3's, given we should have way more memory in the PS4 to utilize hundreds of independent tracks. Many of us use Audacity to cut and edit our songs before we add them to the HDD without needing the Music Editor.

                            - Like the original SOTS in '10, allow the tracks in each situation to play longer. They are all way too short.

                            - Also the Away Pitcher slot definitely needs to be fixed. It plays the track when the new relief pitcher comes into the game, instead of playing when the exiting pitcher is walking off the field. For example, if we assign..."Hit The Road Jack"...it plays for an incoming pitcher instead of the pitcher that got pulled. So have the pulled pitcher animation walking with his head down heading to the dugout while you are playing the away pitcher track.

                            - Also in '14, the batter takes a walk track has a bug. Instead of playing the walk track...it plays a team chant every time. You never hear the batter walk chant you assign.

Thank you for listening Ramone and if you ever need a user from the community as an advisor, I would be glad to do it! Thanks.

SOTS is the reason I bought into this franchise. I'm impatient, and it takes A LOT of patience to be able to play MLBTS but it's been enjoyable. It's also the reason I have yet to purchase a PS4 since MLBTS is all I play.

Do you use Sound of the Show? Yes If so, how extensively? (anywhere from assigning just your created player’s walkup music to assigning all Music and/or Yell and Chant categories for all players and teams). I use every available slot, from batter ditties (I research batter walk ups and stadium sounds all the time) to inning music, to chants and yells.
Do you find the Playlist Creator intuitive and easy to use? Yes it's easy.
How easy or difficult is the Music Editor to use? Very easy to use.
Do you record custom yells and/or chants? Do you import other yell and chant audio files? I mainly import chant files.
Are there additional Music or Yell/Chant categories that you’d like to see for Players or Teams? I'd love to see starting pitcher warm up music and mound visit music.
What changes or improvements would you like to see for this feature? Nothing immediate. I like all the music features. I just want them to be available.
