Because some faces aren't scanned. Manny Machado is an example. Also faces are scanned in spring training a year before the game drops.

Example: most of MLB 14's face scans were done in Spring Training 2013. Some players don't due the face scans. They either aren't at the facility when they are being done or they choose not to do a scan.

Some that are scanned still look bad, like Buster Posey.

And even the ones that they can't get scanned, they could at least do a better job at creating them.

Some of 2K15's scans are bad as well. Maybe SCEA's art team isn't as talented at creating faces like some people are on OS.............can you personally do a better job yourself?

Lmao, I can definitely do a better job at creating the faces they don't scan.

And the faces that 2k doesn't scan, they still do a decent job at creating them and you can still tell what player it is, meanwhile In the show, players that aren't scanned look like they've been assigned any random face that matches their skin tone.

Or maybe face scanning isn't the holy grail of accuracy that some people think it is?

Which would you rather hang up on your wall in your bedroom, a scanned printout of Starry Night, or a hand-painted replica by a respectable artist?

At the end of the day, a computer can only capture so much. It gathers information from fixed angles, at a fixed height, and processes them with a fixed algorithm, and imports them into a fixed program, rendered on a fixed monitor. That's not a lot of versatility to scan one of the 7 billion faces on this earth.

Whatever nba 2k is doing to their player faces is working, and is the holy grail (at least the ones they scan).

And a lot of the players in the Show look extremely well done too, just not enough.

Wait, what...? Hand-paintings vs actual photographs? And we are actually debating which of the two is more accurate?

But seriously, the setup the devs use is plenty good enough already:

And Abe's face was spot on last year.

Since everyone else is chiming in I'm gonna say that the faces in the Show on PS4 definitely looks better then the ones on PS3, no brainer there, but in comparison to what other sports games are doing with faces and skin, the Show is behind almost every other "now" gen sports game.

Now that that's been said, has anyone else noticed that the Show hasn't been putting out much content at CES this year and last year. I've gotten used to not only looking at the newer tech at CES but also seeing tons of videos from the Show at CES. I thought that last years CES no Show (ha ha) was because of the PS4 release delay, what happened this year? Like every Show release year I'm ultra excited and can't wait for the release, I just miss those CES videos that would help hold me over for a couple weeks.

I can't say for fact why they aren't at CES this year, but if I had to take a guess, which is all this is, I would say its because they are on a shorter development cycle this year due to the PS4 version dropping in May of last year and this year's game releasing at the end of March.

or the backlash and complaining that is so common now. They release early details and everyone thinks thats all thats coming and complains until the next bit of info comes out. We were told this might happen eventually
