    Analog hitting changed or not?

After letting this sink in I must admit pulling back and pushing up makes sense for a power swing and should feel good. Preparing for a contact swing when you're like 0-2 shouldn't be too awkward to flip the stick right or left because you still have to make up your mind before the pitch as you did with pressing circle before the pitch.

Yeah I understand that, which is why I brought up the off-chance that you guys could leave in the old Analog method as an option for those of us who love it, while still adding in the new method. Best of both worlds.

Re: Analog hitting changed or not?

My first reaction to this was I asbsolutely hate it.

I have been playing The Show since 12, and have only ever used Zone + Analog.(as I felt it was the most realistic.)

But the Stride Timing was never really that great or realistic:
In 12 you always had to stride when the pitch was released, no matter what.
In 13 & 14 it was when they start to bring their arm forward.

Starting your strike earlier or later based on the pitch doesn't seem to matter, it's mostly about that one spot in the delivery, at least it seems that way to me.

Also because I am using 3rd party Analog Grips(because The Show absolutely shredded the stock analog rubber) I tend to have strides not register because I pull back very gently and slow. I can't count how many times I have thought I have pulled back, gone to swing, and bunted.

The only thing I can see this being a problem with is checking your swing. You get a kind of distance to check because of how far back you pull the analog. Without that distance, checking could become quite hard.

Plus, the stride slider was removed from the game, so there is more evidence that the original method is not in.

I think I'll come around to the new controls. I always hated it whenever I had late stride timing.

With the contact swing going left or right on the stick, maybe that could be a LF or RF swing influence. Since you're just trying to make contact, it could be easier to try and influence if you are trying to pull or push the ball.

I, also, was not initially a fan when I heard how the analog hitting had been changed. Thinking about it more, though, I wonder if this will give me the ability to change my swing after the pitch is released. For instance, if a pitch looks borderline I could fight it off with a contact swing, but if it's coming right down the middle I could use a normal (or power?) swing. I'll have to try this out once the game is released, I'm intrigued now.

I, too, will relent and give it a try. Thx for your responses Mr. Russell.

Re: Analog hitting changed or not?

I was a fan of the stride mechanic in principle, but I felt that the timing of it was always a bit too sensitive. Perhaps we stride fans can just do the stride in our heads on standard and contact swings? The players will still be automatically striding, and we can just run our thumb above the left stick and come forward on the stick like we did before, just making sure we don't actually touch the stick back unless we're going for power.

I have a feeling this won't be too hard to get used to. As somebody said above, we'll now have the benefit of fouling off borderline pitches without having to pre-select contact before we even see where the pitch is going, which will be more like what a real batter does.

Analog hitting in it's state before the change was also not used by allot of users so a change was warranted.

Some people will like the change and some won't. We believe the former will out weigh the latter.

I am surprised that you didn't leve in the old way and add this to has you guys normaly don't take things away but in the past I have always done button controls because when I hit I like to do zone hitting and for me to have to use both the left stick and the right stick to hit and also have to time the stride at the same time was just to much. Because of that I would swing at everything if I tried zone+analog has it just takes to much focous to me so with this change I may beable to do zone+analog for the first time ever.

Re: Analog hitting changed or not?

I never liked the stride thing either. Honestly, it was the biggest obstacle to me using Zone-Analog (as opposed to just Zone).

Plus not every hitter strides. I'm not really a stride kind of guy.

Anyway, as for the change, the only part I dont like is the left/right for contact swings. Seems kinda weird and awkward. Up should be the only direction you swing with. It just doesnt feel natural to have a pitch coming in and I swing straight to the right.

It's not a big deal or anything (how often do I even use contact swing?), just my 2 cents.

Yeah I agree about the power contact swing thing. I think it would be better if you had to just push like x before the pitch for a contact swing or something.

This reminds me of guess pitch when it was changed. A vocal minority wanted the old system but it didnt get re-added. I use button any way. And still miss the old guess pitch

You know I didn't think about that in till you brought that up lol. My guess is that if you push the stick more then half way up it will be a swing if you push the stick less then half way up and then stop the player will stop and check there swing. That is really the only Idea I could think of for that.

Thank you for the honest answer Ramone, you know I always trust you, but now I fear for this change.

Your words are in my mind from 2 years back, when you said you pride yourselfs for leaving in the game every old control interface and just always adding to it. Don't know why it would be hard to leave in the old system and give the others new options.

If you have a Chinese restaurant you don't take away the eating sticks because only a minority of people uses it. You have to stay authentic and give people all the options they used to.

Of course I'll still buy the game no matter what, but if it's still possible to re-add it, please consider doing so. It's important for a few.

                                Thank you!
