Release date question

Got a quick quesrion. Sorry if it's been asked, I did a search but nothing came up. On GameStop website the release date is listed as 3/31/15. But then you can preorder the digital download and it says you can download the game on 3/24/15. Is that a mistake or does it just allow you to download it but not play???

you can download but not play.

The game doesn't release until 3/31.

Right. You can what's called "pre download" the title.. but the system doesn't unlock the game until Midnight on the 31st. (but once it unlocks, it happens instantaneously.)

Am I wrong in thinking that the game used to come out at the beginning of March, or was that a different baseball game and I'm confusing the two?

Yes it used to release in early March, a lot of times the first Tuesday of March. But last year, it released on April 1st for PS3/Vita and in May for the PS4.

Thanks. I thought so. Always gave me time to practice and get things squared away before the year, so I could then try to keep ahead of real life playing the games to get a season in.

I hope for 16 they'll be able to go back to early March.
It gives for plenty of time for bugs to be caught & patched before the start of the regular season.
A Spring Training of sorts for the Show, if you will.

I doubt this is going to happen... the Show (like Madden) I believe will launch close to the start of the regular season for their respective sports from now on because it's what the MLB and NFL want, not what the devs want. I think the devs release closer to the start, because it's under directive. Gotta remember, yes, it's a game, but the MLB (and in Madden's case the NFL) have ultimate say of what gets portrayed and what can happen, and when it can launch, etc....

I think it's pretty safe to assume the emergence of the ps4 had something to do with the later release both last year and this year.

Not really.

At this point do you really thing they would want to shorten their cycle again for no reason? What happens next year does not mean it's because the MLB is mandating it lol.

I actually hope it stays the way it is. I like when Sports games release closer to the start of the season. Always hated NCAA coming out almost 2 months before the season started. And im glad Madden now releases on the last Tuesday of August instead of the 2nd.

I guess the one complaint i would have is OSFM wont be out until late April instead of beginning of the season.

yeah I would be surprised if they move the release date back up to beginning of March.
