There is apparently some thought with Madden that fringe buyers are more likely to get caught up in the excitement of the new season and buy it at the end of August if it's released then instead of the beginning. I cannot understand the logic of it or put myself in those shoes, but that is the reason I've seen given. Don't ask me to explain why they're more likely to buy a brand new game than one that's been out three weeks, but that's apparently the logic.

Perhaps the same thing is going on with The Show. I'm the complete opposite of someone who makes impulse or emotional purchases, so it seems nuts to me.

The later release date was actually mandated by MLB, I believe. I don't know about other leagues.

That said, I think we can bank on a *close to opening day* release day, from now on.

I like the release date closer to Opening Day. Does hurt those waiting on OSFM though. I figured the earlier date in the past was partially due to what the competitor's game's release date was. Since there isn't one anymore (I'm sure some never considered there was one) there is more leeway in the release date. I didn't realize MLB mandated a release day, I could see a "release window."

If the bugs that invariably come with any video game, were small bugs in the Show, I wouldn;t mind a late March release. But as complex as the Show is I know enough bugs will be there that I'd prefer an early March release. Plus I just would love to go get 15 tomorrow lol

If there was a bug it would be there regardless of release date though? And would take the same amount of time to fix.

Yes, but it would be fixed by the start of the season.
