Yeah, late 2018/early 2019 is more aligned with the PSX and PS2 cycles. I think the length of last gen was an anomaly due to Sony and Microsoft trying to recoup their early losses, and with the PS4 being pretty much profitable from day one, there is no need to drag out its life cycle an extra 2-3 years.

If they'd release a new console every 2 to 3 years I'd for sure buy it. I'm sure many of you guys would do the same. Wish Sony, Microsoft would dare to do this.

I would most certainly not buy a console every 2-3 years.

Nah, that would be too short and really hard on devs. Maybe if consoles could be upgraded like PCs, but then there would be no point to consoles at all.

I would absolutely hate it if consoles upgraded every 2-3 years.

Developers would never master the systems or max out the potential. Games would decline in quality (almost every game would be like a launch game), the install base would be so small that the market wouldn't be able to sustain many games, a lot of developers would go bankrupt and it would probably kill the industry. Plus console prices would have to be higher to justify the constant R&D and marketing required for constantly launching new systems.

Most of the game market are casuals and, unlike phones that people use every minute of every day, video games are too much of a niche entertainment to survive semi-annual releases.

You're better off just getting a gaming PC.

I think the only way we get cloth physics is if it comes at the cost of some other cpu intensive task. I think people overestimate the power of the PS4. Many game companies can't even hit 60 fps with the quality of graphics they are using.

I think why waste the time and resources. There are so many other things that could be improved that would actually impact how the game plays versus how the clothing looks when a guy moves.

I take it you didn't read bigwill33's post earlier in this thread. Graphics and gameplay are worked on independently of one another. Which means time and resources spent on cloth physics would only be taking time and resources away from working on other graphical projects, not gameplay. And if you ask me, the game looks pretty damn good right now. The cloth physics/player models I think are the only thing the game can use some improvement graphically speaking.

I understand that but as a whole company resources are spent wherever they deem necessary and IMHO I do not think clothing physics is something I could deem necessary. I think there are other graphical improvements that I would put ahead of clothing such as the stadiums, field appearances and textures.

So everything they did this year?

I look forward to the day that consoles no longer exist. These current ones were already old the day they were announced.

If consoles didn't exist, then The Show probably wouldn't exist.

Possibly true. But someone would make a baseball game. And its not like Sony hasnt made PC games before.

Fair point. I just think that the reason The Show is so well supported by Sony despite sales not really comparing with other sports titles is because its a system seller. Take away the system and I don't think SCEA San Diego gets the same resources to make the game that they currently do from Sony.

Of course, I could be completely wrong about that too cause I don't actually know what I'm talking about...
