    Re: MLB 15: The Show Q & A Thread

Site won't let me make a new thread so I am throwing my question in here. I have not purchased on of the baseball games in a bit, but decided I would give one a try. For some reason I cannot field the ball. Every ball that is hit to my player in RTTS is dropped. I mean every ground ball or pop up. I am not sure what I am doing wrong. I have gone through the options. I tried raising his fielding to 70 thinking it would help, I was wrong. I also tried doing another RTTS and had the same result for two separate positions. This make me think that I am not doing something correctly. Is there a button you have to hit to field the ball cleanly? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

However, I bat from a broadcast/behind the pitcher view. So when I hit the ball, I just see it fly in some general direction with very little idea of what kind of hit it was or where it's really headed. Not only is that kind of weird, but it also causes a delay before I can instruct my runners to advance.

Say for instance I have a runner on 1st with fewer than 2 outs. I hit the ball and have to decide it I want to try to send the runner to 3rd. That delay means I have to wait longer to see where the ball is in relation to the fielder and make my decision about whether to advance. It's not a huge problem in the grand scheme of things but it hasn't really been a welcomed change for me.
i bat from that view too.
i always know the general area where the ball is headed. The delay is like 1 second. Its plenty of time to notice the direction and depth off the bat.
especially left right or center field. very easy to see that.

Well if it doesn't bother you, more power to you. I'm sure I'll get more used to it over time, but it's rather jarring right now. Again, not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, but I'd be quite happy if this became an option in future iterations.

I for one love this addition. Not to be a pest, but any plans in the future to have it in there for all aspects of the game and not just hitting???
            thanks.

              Re: MLB 15: The Show Q & A Thread

Hi everyone - relatively new player here.
I cannot really understand how the new meter pitching works in -15. I have played -14 for a month or two and found meter pitching there relatively easy to get - the ball + offset markings (small arrows) indicated the break the ball would take well enough for me to be able to consistently place it where I wanted it.
But in the new version I really do not understand what the ball and trajectory is indicating. I have placed the ball exactly on target and made a perfect pitch and have it miss - by a lot. I have also tried to use the trajectory as an indicator of how the ball will fly and adjust the trajectory without focusing on where the ball symbol is, and have it miss. This is in pitching practice, so energy should not factor in.

              So, my questions:
              1. What exactly is the ball icon and trajectory telling me this year? Hard to express, but is the ball icon representing the ball end location (ie. at the catcher) or over the plate?

              2. Is this explained well anywhere? I bought the download version and as far as I can tell there is no manual. I would love to find an explanation of what the devs intended with the various modes, but I have not. Are we supposed to guess?

Anyway, many thanks in advance for any info. This really is confusing me.

Go to User Settings > Gameplay Options > Pitching, and then change Pitching Ball Marker to one of the Classic versions.

These are very good questions. I'd love an explanation too.

I wonder if the in-game strategy guide has anything on it?

But I might want to use the new one, assuming someone can explain how exactly it is supposed to work.

In the streams, the devs said with Universal Rewards, whenever you get out a game you will recieve a card. But I have played over 20 RTTS games and I have only recieved maybe 2 cards. There has also been some exhibition games that I would come back from and not get a card.

Also, what is the easiest way to earn stubs without paying for them. I feel like I get less than 100 stubs per game and it's really hard to buy card packs like that

I haven't gotten cards for each game either. I was wondering if it is because I put the PS4 in rest mode during a game and when I came back I had lost connection to the SCEA servers.

I can say with a really good degree of certainty that the pitch trail is pointing to where you want the pitch to end up as it crosses the plate. A lot of factors can cause it to not go there. But if you really simplify things by putting it on Rookie Meter pitching, and hit a perfect release, you'll get a pretty good idea of what's going on.

Ignore the fact that this is pitch command and I'm throwing the wrong pitch, but this is me throwing 20 Curveballs on Rookie. Watch what happens when I reel off about 5 or 6 perfect or close to perfect releases in a row. Also, I'm not aiming these pitches - the old aiming cursor would be pointed right down the middle.

                                <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/c4PI0yY90vY?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

The reason this gets so muddled at times in actual games is because there's always inaccuracy factored into every pitch you throw, even before you start factoring in confidence and stamina. And it gets increased the more effort you put behind a pitch or (in the case of meter) how badly you miss the accuracy point. So, even though you might be aiming for a corner and get a semi-decent release, your pitch might be a foot outside or back over the middle of the plate - perhaps right where your initial breakpoint aim was.
