This is a point Ive always liked to make. A lot of the things a lot of us do in the game could be unrealistic. Just realize if you do want to get Trout, as the GM for whichever you team you have decided to control you will have to severely overpay.

Re: MLB 15 trade discussion thread
We aren't here to tell you "you can't do this" or "you can't do that". We are here to discuss. If you come at someone asking if trading Trout is realistic, you need to expect the discussion to be about why Trout wouldn't be traded. You can do whatever you want with your franchise, we aren't here to tell you what to do.You're missing the point though. When you say "no sane GM" would do that you are not taking into account that in our franchise, we are the gm and we decide how we want to run the team.
In real life it is probably unrealistic to land Trout because a typical gm probably won't wanna give up that value. In our franchise though it is both fair and realistic if we wanted to dump our farm for Trout.
You cannot say the way someone wants to run THEIR franchise as GM is unrealistic. Maybe I'm the Giants and I have trouble using Bumgarner and he's terrible for me. I can trade him. There is no limit for realism for your own team
If you think dumping your entire team for Trout is realistic, then have at it. We are just telling you our OPINION is that it is not. And if you want to say "we run our franchise how we want" then don't come here asking if a trade is realistic. You could simply say "I'm not too big on realism, just looking for fairness" and we wouldn't tell you it's unrealistic because, well, you wouldn't care.
Morale of the story: Don't come here asking if a trade is fair or realistic if you're going to get mad when we think it's not.Last edited by CameRoN0407; 04-08-2015, 01:02 PM.Red Sox: 2018 World Series Champions!!!

Now back to my point. If you agree that it is realistic for the Angels to trade Trout for Bryant, Baez, Russell, Soler and Rizzo and if I am a Cubs owner and I like that deal then how is it unrealistic?Comment

If you think it's fair and realistic, why come here and ask? In my opinion, I wouldn't do it if I was a Cubs GM for multiple reasons.Red Sox: 2018 World Series Champions!!!

Re: MLB 15 trade discussion thread
I did not come here and ask about a trade. I don't know why you insist on that. My only action in this thread recently is responding to your post.
And in your opinion you wouldn't in other's opinions they might.
My point is you're saying it's unrealistic the Angels would trade him. But for the right price it is totally realisticComment

If you, *erm*, that person fully believes the trade they are making is fair and realistic, then why would they come here asking for other's opinion? That is my question that you failed to answer.Red Sox: 2018 World Series Champions!!!

Re: MLB 15 trade discussion thread
First off, knock it off with being a sarcastic jerk. You were in a debate with multiple other people about if it was realistic if Trout was traded. You said it was not realistic because no sane GM would give up what it takes to get Trout.
I was not in the conversation at all until I replied to your post about WHY you're wrong about any trade for Trout being unrealistic and then you go on this rant about me asking, and me getting mad about you saying my trade was unrealistic. I haven't even asked for trade advice and you're acting like I did.
If someone is willing to pay what it costs to get Trout (Insert player here. Kershaw, etc) then how is that unrealistic?Comment

Re: MLB 15 trade discussion thread
So this is my approach to this thread. I tend to ask for feedback on a trade when I'm unsure about a player's value, when I feel like I have a fair trade but want to double check my reasoning, or when I'm concerned that I may be talking myself into a trade because I want a certain player badly enough to maybe cheat the CPU a little.
Most of the time I get great feedback that either confirms I'm thinking right about something or brings up something I hadn't really considered. Once in a while I'll get some feedback that I don't really agree with and may disregard it when making my final decision on the trade.
Bottom line, this thread offers a wonderful opportunity to get others' opinions on your situation. The spreadsheet is a wonderful tool that I appreciate very much and reference constantly, and at the end of the day you simply can't have too many good tools. However, when all is said and done, it's up to you how you want to run your franchise (for clarity's sake, the "you" isn't directed at anyone in particular).
The one issue I see arising sometimes is that someone will come in wanting feedback on a possible trade. They're told it's unrealistic and then will argue incessantly as if they simply can't move on until they get everyone's approval. While there is a lot to be gained by genuine spirited dialogue when there's a difference of opinion, sometimes it gets to be a little much. If people by and large don't like your trade and your reasoning does nothing to persuade them, then just make the decision about what you want to do and do it. No one here is going to come delete your franchise off your PS4 because you made a trade that wasn't approved.
Anyhow . . . sorry to kind of go off there. I'm looking forward to another great trade thread with all of the valuable feedback provided!

How am I being sarcastic? I asked you a question, and you still haven't responded to it. Also, do not put words in my mouth I never once said "no sane GM would do it". I am not one bit mad. I also was not acting like you asked for trade advice. You used yourself as an example, so I responded like so.
Fairness and realism are two different things. If someone says: I'm not looking for realism, then I will not play that as a factor in the prospective deal.
Like I said. If a person feels a trade is realistic, and fair, why come to this thread and ask?Red Sox: 2018 World Series Champions!!!

Re: MLB 15 trade discussion thread
I absolutely agree that it's best to be upfront from the beginning about the goal being fairness or realism. I also agree, to an extent, about why come to this thread if you've already made up your mind. I personally still ask because I find it beneficial to get a somewhat more objective take on what is fair or realistic. But you are right that it seems too many times someone comes up with their mind made up already and just wants to argue if someone disagrees. That's the kind of approach that doesn't really contribute anything positive. How am I being sarcastic? I asked you a question, and you still haven't responded to it. It's OK to come here and ask if you already made up your mind. Just don't get mad if we don't agree with you think. We're all human and we all have very different opinions on things. I don't argue, I just try to state my point, and give the poster another opinion to listen to. If they choose not to, then what can I do? Sometimes people want conformation. I have no idea, go ask the people who are asking for help. Don't ask me for other people's opinions. How am I being sarcastic? You also did say "no sane gm would leverage their farm system."
I still don't agree that a Trout for Urias, Pederson, Seager + a few more (this was the one you brought up) is unrealistic. If offered all those prospects, I think the Angels would jump on it especially with Trout's moneyComment
