I play with commentary at 20. You can hear it when the crowd is quiet. That way it is there but not.

Vasgersian is fine. I'm used to him after playing for years. He doesn't ramble on about incoherent nonsense like Karros or chime in with obvious things that add nothing like Lyons. Karros is the worst, he starts everything with "Yeah..." and then just rambles. I turn him off.

Maybe get some Emmy award winning announcers like Kruk & Kuip...

I like turning on spotify when playing sometimes, just make sure you turn down all commentary and in game music, then crowd noise and pa announcer, but whatever you do DONT TURN DOWN SOUND EFFECTS, cant hit without the sound of the crack of the bat. Seems to mess me up.

Karros was muted immediately after the initial boot up. Kept Lyons and Matt V on because I didn't mind the 2 man booth feel.

Karros was just another voice getting in the way imo. Plus as a Giants fan, Karros, although retired, still has that Dodger stink on him so his fate was sealed just because of that alone. Lyons has about another week before he's gonna be joining him in the mute section.

I keep them on, though sometimes I like to announce the game myself, much to the extreme annoyance of my wife. I'm a goofy version of a Pat Hughes/Harry Caray hybrid. Starlin Castro spelled backwards is "Ortsac Nilrats". Holy cow!

                Yeah, I really don't have a life.

Would the lady who left her nine kids at Wrigley Field please pick them up immediately? They are beating the Cubs 4-0 in the 7th inning!

Every sports game commentary gets old after a while but on the show after a day literally you heard all of the lines

they need to just get some new people onto the commentary

Re: Anyone else playing with the commentary off?

Why waste all those resources on commentary though? Why not make the ambiance of the game better with the sound crew? I could not care less that people want to hear some guy repeating the same stories throughout the year in a LITTLE bit better way. It means nothing to me.

The sound crew should be trying to simulate a real ball game, yeah, that ballgame where NO ONE HEARS THE COMMENTARY. Commentary is for people watching at home on TV and means nothing to real simulation fans.

It really disturbs me that so many fans of the simulation genre in sports want to keep making the game look like a broadcast, AKA NOT A SIMULATION but a simulation of a simulation lol, when the reality is these sports games exists and will exist in the future to take into the real game to be a participant.

I don't mind good commentary. But it clearly is no easy feat and its annoying with how many problems this game has that something so ridiculously over criticized is the main selling point of a game. If this is the main selling point for you then well.... you aren't a real baseball fan. Period.

I hear this all the time: 2K is the bar. THE BAR MAN. Is that why it repeats the same stories all the time? Why does anyone even care about this. I swear, it's like people want this game to be some kind of computerized version of real life with androids of the actual crew that simulate millions and millions of situations and never repeat themselves. Instead, they have injected themselves into the code in real time. it's like people want a friggin' talking simulator around here!

Now that we are done with commentary how about we improve the real game sounds a little bit more? Coding commentary is actually very hard and very time consuming. There is no set amount of money that would make me even want that job. Literally just snipping and pasting bits of commentary endlessly so it makes some sense to everything happening in game. Dear god I'd hang myself. And hardly ever anyone around here appreciates it anyway.

I have to agree with MythicalGnome here and plenty of others. I get that a lot of people want to feel like they are playing exactly what they see on TV, though.

MattyV was just a run on sentence a few years ago and I had to turn it off. Then, I also realized that I don't like most of the commentary that I hear during a real baseball game. I don't listen to them either.

I mostly get Royals games here so that might have an influence. Enough with showing people in the stands. Show me the defensive alignment. Pull in data like heat maps/hot and cold zones. I want to watch the game. Not people watching the game and talking about a pottery fund-raising event 3.5 hours away!

There really is no good way to keep color commentary fresh in any sports title over the course of a full season. I wish they would spend more time adding commentary for what is happening in the game itself. Whether the IFs are guarding corners, OF playing over to right, etc. Forget about the the inane lines we hear over and over again from the color guys.

If the announcer (1 or 2) would just broadcast the facts (count, outs, men on base, etc) with a few other on field things thrown in as mentioned above, I think many of us would be more than happy.

This would keep us immersed in the game without having to hear so much repetition. Hope they someday consider that. Personally, I turn off all the announcers after about a game or 2. Also did that in Madden and ESPN 2K5. Color commentary just does not work in any sports title for the long run.

I wouldn't mind changing up the Commentary team. Although I am not keen on it happening. Those of you who play NHL, you know why. The commentary in that game is brutal. It's basically recycled lines over and over.

The problem with the commentary is it lacks depth. There is no friendly bantering (Oxymoron?) between commenters and the game doesn't have enough lines/phrases.

If I'd have to choose new commentators I'd like to see Buck and Pat as commentators, but that's highly unlikely. I wouldn't mind seeing Michael Kay or Vin Scully.

Most of the new stuff they added are in franchise mode and it sounded pretty good in my opinion.
