Re: Pure analog...
My swing timing is just so messed up without this.
I've been using the stride as a timing mechanism for like 4 years, probably 15,000 at bats in this game, it's literally wired into my DNA at this point lol. Muscle memory and whatnot.
Trying to swing without it and I'm just early on almost everything, and I'm flinching and swinging at stuff I don't want to because it just FEELS wrong. It's like my body is rejecting it like a bad transplant lol.
I carried over my RTTS and picked up in the middle of a season, 104 games in. My slash line at the time I carried it over was .330/.402/.636. I've played 9 games so far on 15, and over these 9 games I've hit .162/.225/.324 lol. Just submarining my MVP campaign.
I feel just like you. My timing was based on the beginning of the stride, which always started at that point before the ball was leaving the pitcher's hand. I knew the speeds of the pitches and adjusted my swing based on my stride and pitch speeds. Now, I'm making noises in my head when I was about to stride in order to have a base point for my swing. It's just terrible.
And on top of that, now, you don't get pitch/swing info after every pitch. I know, that I don't need the PCI and I get the timing information, but they forgot one very important aspect of the pitch/swing info: PITCH SPEEDS You don't get feedback on pitch speeds if you swing the bat. I miss it.
All right, I stop the rant, and start getting used to the new mechanic...Comment

Re: Pure analog...
I started a thread months ago, when I figured out this change. Ramone said they are not going to bring it back for this year. It is very disappointing.

I just tried Pure Analog (as opposed Directional with Analog input), and it looks like you have the horizontal control of PCI, just like you did in MLB 14. You can even get swing feedback after each pitch if you use that option.
With Directional with Analog, your control over PCI (which is hidden from our view) is at the mercy of AI which you can influence via L2, but if you actually liked the PCI control, then Pure Analog interface still gives you that control.
What is taken out is of course striding, and the ability to preload a swing type by button, so if you still want to stride then it will trigger power swing.
... but it might be possible to adjust sliders enough to *nerf* power swing, boost vision and contact to get the result Pure Analog people want, as Madden's Jowels stated. (I don't necessarily recommend that slideritus approach though...)Comment

Re: Pure analog...
This is such a massacre!!!. Pure analog with stride felt as close as you can get at swinging a bat with a controller stick...i don't want to press a button to swing..seems too arcadey. What did you do Sony!. If anamation can't be changed with a patch at least allocate buttons to differentiate between contact and power like in the past...circle button for contact and square for power.Comment

Look at Ramone's response from that earlier thread.Comment

Re: Pure analog...
I could never say a bad word about Russell he seems like a stand up guy not just a yes man for sony. I like how he says what he feels and defends it with conviction.
Not gonna lie though. Reading his responses irritated me. Just seemed so apathetic to us who are passionate about it. In fairness though I didn't read the whole thread so it's hard to judge the tone that was set in there.
it just doesn't make sense to me. He says it needed to be simplified. Why? There are other methods in place in the game that are simpler and apparently even according to him are used more by the masses. Why take it away from us. all that basically happened was the right stick has been mapped like it's an x button or square button. Hitting left right or up for contact is no different than hitting the x button. So why wouldn't I just use button timing then if that's what I wanted.
I could live with no stride timing (although I'd rather not) but at least have down than up for a swing with x for contact or square for power like it was last year. That makes sense at least to me in order to dumb it down for people.
its like taking the skill stick out of the nhl series. It would be easier for people but you lose realism and control. I promise you EA is never going to do that. I just can't believe that Sony San Diego did.
At the end of the day maybe we are the minority and that's the way it is. That's the tone I took from the short part of that thread That I read. But I can say loud and clear that I think that sucks. Lol2016 NLL Champion Saskatchewan Rush

And if what I read earlier in this thread is true, the power and contact aspects of the new analog style are actually more realistic than ever before.
I mean, old analog required you to time the pitchers foot, then hit the ball. It is similar to real life timing, but you arent thinking about it in real life, so doing it every single time you watch a pitch in the game simply becomes tedious.
Loading up for a power swing, and simply slapping at a pitch for the contact swing is actually pretty cool in my opinion.
At the very least, they need to keep the new style of analog even if there is enough of an outrage that they bring back the old style. Im just loving the new style that much.Comment

Re: Pure analog...
I understand why a lot of you guys are upset with the change, because I would be too if I was a pure analog guy for years and then *poof* its gone; however, as someone who has been a bit of a swing mechanics nomad through the years, I LOVE this years zone hitting with analog. It is amazing.

Yeah I like it to because I always wanted to do zone + plus analog but I felt like it took to much focus to time the stride and use the left stick for zone at the same time so I would end up swing at everything and not be able to time it. Now not having to deal with that I can use zone plus analog or I might do zone and directional not sure yet. I am surprised they did this though. They have always talked about not taking things out and now we lost this and the highlights at the end of the game. I think next year they are going to bring this option back and keep the new option in the game because of all the hate this is getting I really be surprised if it is not brought back next year. I think they real bring back the highlights next year to.Comment

Re: Pure analog...
The new mechanic has my timing all screwed up. Playing on Dynamic Difficulty I got to Veteran... then got bumped back down to Rookie+ 3 different times. Finally said F it and switched back to buttons. Feels extremely cheap but at least the game's somewhat playable now.Comment

Re: Pure analog...
cts50, we're using stride as a timing mechanism. If sony wanted they can keep the flicking up on the stick for a slap hit thats fine..tony gwynn style. But for a normal contact or power swing you need to stride and time your swing..flicking the stick up seems like it should be used as a slap hit or a slap bunt. Listen, Sony just dumb the hitting down for casual gamers thats it...this year hitting isn't as realistic and less of a simulation of baseball than previous years....theyve taken a step back.Comment

Not impressed they took this out. Pure analog is the truest way to get the sensation of a baseball swing, and my preference.. Weak.Comment
