The removal of stride timing in ZPA and the ridiculous "swing" to the left and right in the new "Zone Analog" hitting mode absolutely murdered the immersion and sense of realism for me. I can't describe how much I loath this year's version. Just can't get used to it, and frankly I don't want to relearn the game using what I consider to be a far inferior hitting mode. I'd rather keep playing '14 all year. I'd heard absolutely nothing about this in any of the reviews or press and was seriously confused when it wasn't in the options like it has been for the LAST FOUR YEARS. I means, seriously, it's all muscle memory for me at this point. No way am I going to futz around learning some button-masher style of play and it was ridiculously arrogant of SCEA SD to imperiously remove it, then hush complaints with "my house, my rules" --especially when they trade on the fact that they are well-known to have claimed that they would never remove a control mode for precisely all of the reasons I just outlined above. But, no, it just wasn't popular enough to make the cut, so we --the portion of the user base which took the time to master arguably with most difficult and sim-like interface in the game-- get voted off the island. No WAY I'd have bought this game if I'd have known they removed ZPA + stride. I know a lot of other people wouldn't have either.

Re: Pure analog...
Another frustrated and past customer of MLB The Show. I cannot immerse myself into the game using zone and I miss the stride and the new way of pure analog is just mind-boggling as to why they took it out. I see this as straight up lack of respect for people who played and loved this game for the past few years using pure analog. It actually feels like they are trying to get rid of us.
Without SOTS or the stride I have no reason to play this game or recommend it to anyone. SMH.Comment

Re: Pure analog...
So I made an analog hitting guide/tutorial that I believe will help clear some confusion surrounding the mechanic. Based on my findings, I can definitively confirm that analog hitting is programmed quite differently than how it's been expressed by the developers of the game.
I hope this will help everyone.
And if youre interested you can check out the zone and directional hitting guides... they've been posted on main page on OS so you can scour the forums if you want to find them or just watch them here.

Re: Pure analog...
Is this confirmed? I tried testing that out, as timing does influence PCI location with zone hitting, but I actually didnt notice it with analog...Check out my channel for reviews and sports guides.

Re: Pure analog...
It was one of the elements that determined the Y axis movement along with player attributes with the original pure analog system. It would not make any sense to disregard that aspect in its reimagined form.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment

Re: Pure analog...
Anyways. I haven't noticed timing and pci placement this year at all. Maybe it is there but it's definetly not as prominent as last year. As far as I can tell anyways.2016 NLL Champion Saskatchewan Rush

Re: Pure analog...
So just to clarify...
⬆️ On the right analog stick is only for pitches in the middle of the strike zone.
⬇️⬆️ For power hits for pitches in the middle of the strike zone.
↗️ For pitches to the right side of the strike zone (RH batter). ⬇️ First for power.
↖️ For pitches to the left side of the strike zone (RH batter). ⬇️ First for power.
➡️ For contact on pitches to the right/out the strike zone (RH batter).
⬅️ For contact on pitches inside/out the strike zone (RH batter).
No wonder I played a game that was still 0-0 after 13 innings! I've pretty much just been pressing ⬆️ regardless of pitch location.Comment

The picture is of the right stick on a 360 degree scale.

Re: Pure analog...
WOW! how did you make that picture!!! Id love to use something like that for my vids. but its not entirely correct. the blue portion would be horizontal placement of the pci. also, there is NO contact swing. swinging to the right is just an extension of the mechanic. so its swinging out of the strike zone. that is all.
does that help?
As far as the picture, I found a blank copy of the unit circle and just made adjustment in MS paint. I can send it to you if you like so you can adjust it to make it more accurate.Comment

Re: Pure analog...
That was a great video. Why didn't we just get that kind of explanation to start with? They just took out the stride, but everything else is basically the same? Unless it was just my misunderstanding.
I might go back and try using pure analog again instead of directional/analog. Since I've used it for the past 4 years, I still find myself angleing my stick towards the ball anyway.Comment

Re: Pure analog...
That's what I was trying to put out. A pitch high in the SZ (the green color, for example) would warrant a swing up and to the right. That is the horizontal placement of the pci.Comment
