This is why I don't use zone, it's hard enough trying to read the bitch out of the pitcher's hand and time up the swing, stay back on breaking balls, try to jump on fastballs, etc. I don't want to have to move the PCI at all, with the left stick OR by using the right stick at different angles. God why complicate it so much? Pure Analog, I miss you so much brahhh.

Does anybody know if Directional with analog input is like this as well? I just want to use the right stick to swing, but without having to control the PCI placement, I want it controlled by player ratings. Any way I can achieve this?
you do know that pure analog was more complicated than as how its constructed now right?

Yes, I realize that there was the stride timing involved and I loved that. But it had nothing to do with PCI placement (other than early/late moving it just slightly). I mainly play RTTS with some franchise and DD mixed in. To give you an idea, my last 3 seasons on RTTS on MLB 14 I had 40, 43, and 43 homers. Slugging .538, .582, and .621. I'm currently almost finished with my first full season on MLB 15 and I've got 20 homers with 17 games to play, slugging .506. Including equipment boosts, my guy has 102 contact/102 power vs. righties, 89 contact/88 power vs. lefties. 116 plate vision. 104 batting clutch. The reason I'm struggling so bad is because the AI has been placing my PCI in all kinds of wonky places, so every time I get a meat pitch, even with good timing I swing under it, or over it, or inside of it. Like I said... I don't WANT to control my PCI. Stride timing and swing timing is one thing (and I miss the stride a lot because it helped me time up the ball and get my rhythm down), but PCI placement is something I want nothing to do with. Too many balls in the air for me. I can't multitask that well lol.

I switched to directional and it doesn't seem to be moving the PCI all weird like before. It doesn't even show the PCI after a swing anymore, it just shows my timing, so I take it that means the PCI is getting placed in the proper spot based on my ratings.

I can't seem to get my settings for hitting to go where I press down on the right thumb stick and that sets up my stride. This new way already sets up the leg kick. Can anyone help me out?

There is no longer any way to control your stride. That's what this entire thread is about.

They "simplified" Analog hitting by removing the stride mechanic. The game now strides for you.

After learning how Pure Analog works this year I decided to give it a go for a few days. At first I thought I would warm up to it a bit ...... well sir, nope. After 2 -3 days of PA I decided to switch back to Zone. Pure Analog just feels horrible and naked without the stride. Give us back the stride for the love of butt sauce!!!

Or atleast the option of it. SSD claim the majority were put off by stride on PA so just have an option to have stride on or off.

I thought I'd hate the new PA but if I'm honest it better suits me. With stride I had to have pitch speed pretty low with timing and contact bumped up a notch or two. Now I find it more fun playing with higher pitch speeds.

I think that is the perfect solution to this issue.

I know there are a TON of people who swear by the classic PA style, but the new PA style has a lot of fans as well.

I say put them both in 2016.

                        Re: Pure analog...

Are you guys sure about the swing timing not having some effect on the vertical placement of the PCI?

I'm not saying that player ratings don't play a role in PCI placement, but I think there are probably several factors at play here.

I always thought there was sort of a cocktail of swing timing, player ratings, PCI placement, pitch execution, and the overall context of the pitch(i.e. Obviously, you're not going to swing over a pitch at your shoulders, no matter how early you swing...).

Maybe I've been wrong, but I feel like I see a pretty consistent diet of high PCI placement when I swing early at a pitch low in the zone and vice versa for times when I'm swinging late on something like a high and tight fastball.

Are you guys not seeing the same thing?

                          Re: Pure analog...

My assumption is that swing timing has a slight effect on the vertical disposition of the PCI, similar to zone. However, ratings will still be the number 1 factor.

I also made a video if you guys want to check it out:

                          <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/zSwpHHElWD4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Jake's video is better and more professional. but I also suggest some ideas and approaches in mine. Jake and I been talking about this hitting scheme for a few weeks now and glad to see a few people try out pure analog again.

There are just some baffling concepts to me about Pure Analog hitting. Contact swing makes no sense and is not really even a contact swing in how we know it.

Why did the developers leave us in the dust about this hitting scheme? How were they not aware that you need to do more than "flick up" and why is none of this in the manual?

Why did they ignore it on live streams? And what data do they have that suggest people did not like the stride? Did they do a poll on OS and ignore everyone else? How do they collect data from those who play logged offline?

They should have left Pure Analog hitting alone with Stride Timing and gave us the option for the simplified analog inputs with directional and zone. I think everyone would be happy with those options since the newcomers could use analog with timing and the pure analog vets could still use their stride timing. The only ones left out is the very few that used Zone Plus Analog hitting with Stride.

It was just confusing to me on how all of this panned out.

Totally agree. I watched both yours and Jake's videos. great info thanks. I am a huge sim, attributes needs to be the most important nerd, so to me zone is like cheating because the user is controlling the batters eye so if you get good at it you're basically overriding the players batting attributes..just my opinion please no hate mail.
and directional has NO pci whatsoever? so then I am stuck using this style. I am getting use to it, but is isn't very intuitive and feels clunky and I absolutely Loved the old analog-stride style. So, hitting has been very frustrating this with lack of info/pci on directional and the loss of stride on analog

I've been using zone forever. Generally good hitter's are still the good hitter's and poor hitter's are still the poor hitter's no matter how good you get at it.

Alot of people like me loved zone and analog because it was the truest representation of a baseball swing. Especially with the stride. I totally respect your opinion and I see what your saying but I definetly wouldn't call it cheating.
