This years game is insanely good at default All-Star with minor tweaks. I too will have a set out in a mere day or two. Maybe even tonight. That's how well tuned the game is this year.

I have carried over my two Yankees (current in year 2 and the 1987) franchises from 14. And when OSFM comes out I will begin a fresh Marlins Franchise as well. Plus I carried over all the classic roster seasons.....I play at my pace and with Y2Y saves.....I don't even think about having to finish anything. It just keep rolling on.
    Great explanations.

Just keeping rolling, its a great way to go about it.

All im doing now is getting my sliders set then thats it, nothing else, im away, no waiting on OSFM, no waiting on patches, no waiting on re-rates, it goes on and on...im too old for it all now and realised the errors of my ways.

    Sliders go in...and im away

Yep, as i said, if you are planning to do a lot of simming etc, then OSFM do completely make sense, but if you arent, im struggling to see the point any more.

With a family and small child leaning into my gaming time more and more, i really cant justify sitting on this game a whole month (or more) from now before getting going..

    a) i dont have the time nowadays and
    b) i just want to play ball

Re: Learning your lesson...go and play!

I was halfway through a season in 14 before I traded it in. I was using the PB sliders and the OS spring training roster. Well both of them transferred over when I started 15. So I saved the roster and the sliders and I am planning on starting my new franchise next week. But that was just luck that this year 14 transferred over to 15. Before that I would also do what many others have done and restarted franchises to the point where it was had to finish.

I think the only franchise I finished without tinkering was when I was deployed with no internet. Playing a complete season was how I spent my free time. I used to go into batting practice against the scheduled starter that I would be facing so I could 'scout' him, and then I would play my game. This year I am going to go back to that. Like the old saying goes, KISS (keep it simple, stupid).

This is true, enjoy the game. 162 game season will level out any statistical anomalies you see with small tweaks as you go anyway.

I always have this problem, across all my sports games. One of my resolutions for 2015 was no more rebooting dynasties. Get it and go. I don't have MLB 15 yet, but that's my plan when I do pick it up.

Re: Learning your lesson...go and play!

I thought about starting a franchise without the OSFM rosters since I really don't want to wait, but with year to year saves I can finally get deeper into franchise. I usually can get through about 2 seasons a year, and if I can carry that forward to next year I don't want to do it with fake players. I'd rather wait a month now and have better rosters next year.

I'm going down this route as well this year.

I'll wait until the opening day roster set becomes available and then make a few tweaks to the stock ratings and off we go. Like you, I play all 162 but not at a 2hr pace, I'll skip through walkups etc. if I'm pushed for time.

This year, with the PS4 being back on basically an Opening Day release (well, a week before actually), waiting for OSFM (as wonderful as it is) means sitting on the game for probably at least a month before even getting started.

If you are planning to only play some games (not all 162 like me) and do lots of simming, OSFM definitely ARE worth waiting for, for obvious reasons, but...if you plan on playing all your games and therefore probably only getting one season in anyway before next years game, i ask you this...

                Why wait?
Psycho--Just curious. Given you play all 162, one full season, do you play season mode? Or do you play franchise and use Cpu generated minor rosters?

I actually play Franchise mode, but really, maybe i should just do Season mode, im thinking theres no reason why not?

In a perfect world there would not need to be the need for OSFM rosters as the full Major League all the way down the Class A ball rosters would be available from day one that the game is released. But we don’t live in a perfect world and I understand why people like their OSFM rosters. However as a “Season” mode player I only have access to the various 40-man rosters anyway, so there is no need for me to wait for the OSFM rosters to drop as the 2015 rosters from SCEA are plenty good for how I play the game. My 2015 season has already begun and there is no turning back. I still have 4 more Spring Training games to play this week, and my Opening Day in the game will mirror the real world Opening Day on Monday.

However all is not well in Mudville when people say there are no glaring bugs in the game. The base “Runners” HUD window in “Manage Only Games” has been removed from the MLB 15 game as well as removed from CPU vs CPU games. It is not as important in the CPU vs CPU games, but it is an important tool for those of us who like playing our MoM games. I can still play my games without these “Runners” HUD windows, so it is not a show stopper. But SCEA says they pride themselves in never taking features out of the game, but they did just that this year. I don’t know if the HUDs were removed on purpose or does SCEA just not believe in regression testing. However it could be worse. Last year SCEA released the game where the pitchers only threw strikes in MoM games.

Yes i agree with that, as i have said, this is NOT a "Dont wait for OSFM" thread, far from it, they are an incredible piece of work.

Its more to say, "if you dont need to wait i.e. are probably only going to play a season anyway, then why wait?"

If im a 10/20/30 years into the future Show player then yes, im waiting, rightfully so, but if you arent, and have other things in your life pulling on your time too, i see no reason to waste probably another month of time not even playing the game you paid good money for.

Please, nobody interpret this thread as a knock on OSFM, its anything but

In 2014, I played my "Season Mode" MLB The Show games with injuries turned on and 30-team user control. It never actually was an issue, but there was one point in the season where one or two teams had a lot of injuries and were pretty thin in certain positions on the 40-man rosters. In that case a Franchise would have come in handy. But what I did for these teams in my "Season" was I released the players who were out for the year when they had serious injuries and signed Free Agents to fill the 40-man rosters. So "Season" mode has it's flaws. But it's also easier to handle if all you really care about is wins and loses and who makes the playoffs for a given year. 162 x 15 is an awful lot of games for me to think about running more than one Franchise year in a real world calendar year.

Been taking this approach for a while now. Finally got over the "slider disease" a few years ago.,

I usually can get through about 2 seasons a year, and if I can carry that forward to next year I don't want to do it with fake players. I'd rather wait a month now and have better rosters next year.
Probably going this route. I do have a franchise from 2014 but for some reason players faces aren't showing correctly. For example, I have Butler on the A's but he has a generic face when using my franchise. I'll just play online until rosters come out

I always go Season mode. It's multiple seasons as well, you just only have to worry about your 40-man instead of full minors.
