Re: Learning your lesson...go and play!

The swings and roundabouts this game brings... I start the season 6-1 and look like im romping off to 100+ wins... 6 games later im on a 4-skid and 7-6 staring down a barrel.

My confidence is shot, im 2nd guessing everything and its just not working Mistakes are creeping in and im not getting any sleep at night anymore.... how am I going to get Kinsler hitting again.... is Rajai Davis the man to lead off for me if he is struggling to get on base... all these things

    My wife thinks im mad

Things like rosters, batting orders, formations, squads, scoring lines I'm more concerned with at least to begin the season because I think it helps to have the best representation you can of the real leagues. But for example, I've been playing sports games for years, always following the real season's transactions and what ends up happening is that I never finish a season during the time that sport is being played. So I finish my baseball seasons in January or February, my hockey seasons go well into August, I could reach the playoffs in Madden in May or June. Why? Because I inevitably hit a point where the teams need to be updated to match the real season and knowing that it'll take me a day or two to do that, I put it off over and over. Then I inevitably end up inventing a new rule of only doing the big trades or the ones that affect teams in playoff spots. So I'm actually going against the rules a set up that made me start the season so late to begin with!!
I noticed a little while ago that this hardly ever happens in FIFA or PES. Less transactions during the season (less teams, sure) but I was easily getting one, sometimes two seasons in and also a Champions League. I'm in the process of deciding whether to just get the best rosters I can and play the season transaction free. I'm discussing it in this forum thread if you're interested.

Thanks for your post. It's given me more perspective which I was looking for recently.

I will play random games and put in some much needed work on my hitting before that time comes.

After exporting/importing all Mets minors and top 25 prospects from 2014, and then updating all contracts for the 25 man rosters I saw the same thing.

I never thought there was a chance they would be done so soon.

I guess I have to wait now :-/

          Indeed

Lol, after all that has been said, and going off the history of OSFM, they are usually around a month or more after release, that would have been too long to wait, but now with the news they are looking good for a release this weekend...i CAN understand waiting for that, as i will be doing myself

Still playing and enjoying myself, but I have to admit I am starting to see more and more fake players and that wouldn't be to bad either except they are always poorly created. They look ridiculous most of the time with the over exaggerated facial hair and why are all of them short...The fake players you wouldn't even notice if they were generated better...I really like my team though but I'm sure if they are out this quick I'll have them...lol

I was about to just pick a roster that has the top prospects and go with that, but with the release of OSFM so near I'll be waiting for it to start my A's franchise. Especially since I'll be skipping next year's game, perhaps even continuing the same franchise until 2017. Also, since I bought my PS4 quite recently I've got loads of stuff to play on it, making the wait just a bit more bearable. Still, I can see why people would want to skip waiting for the rosters. The game is amazing!

Basically, the last few years, ive generally messed around too much when waiting to start my franchise, i would always say to myself things like:

                          - your sliders arent tested enough
                          - wait for the OSFM OD Set
                          - then, may as well for re-rates/pitch edits etc
                          - there may be another patch, wait for that
                          - alter my players equipments to be as accurate as possible

...and on and on it went, i was giving myself any excuse not to just go and actually play the game, due to this i was always struggling to get my franchise in (i play all 162), and any post-season, should i get there.

Well, this year its different, ive finally wised up.

My sliders? Yeah, they may require the odd tweak in future but ill have a set out this weekend (see Slider forum) and any adjustments can be made on the fly, why on earth do i need to restart a franchise many games in because of one click of a slider left or right? Madness lol, but i used to do it

Rosters? I will never have a go at anyone that waits for OSFM, ive always done it myself in years past, they are an incredible community based product that deserve all the praise they get...with that said, this year, im not waiting for them. Why? Because we are possibly looking at a month or so, May, i dont want to waste another 4/5 weeks of possible playtime, when, in reality, i only plan to get one season in, as i play all 162, at a relaxed pace, 2 hours a game, so wanting the correct minors and prospects for seasons to come is futile - ill be onto MLB 16/17 by then.

Patch? There may be one, but theres no glaring errors that mean waiting, again, likely a month or more for it, it will work on existing games anyway.

So, basically, what AM i worrying about? Why didnt i just start and play in years gone by?

                          NO MORE i tell you!

So...my message to others in a similar boat thinking about waiting for this, that and the other that they "must have", before starting their franchises...learn from my painful lessons and get started, enjoy the game and go and play.

Im sure im not the only one whos come to see the light where this game and waiting is concerned.

My franchise starts next week, once and for all, and will NOT be restarting, because ive also learned if you keep restarting you simply never finish what you started.

If you are a little OCD and absolutely HAVE to wait for all the edits and re-rates that OSFM will get in the months to come, fair play to you, each to his own and all that, but me, well, i used to be like that, but like i say, lesson learned

                          Lets play ball!

And here I thought I was the only 1 that would basically mess around too much and not get enough playing the game.

OSFM is a must for me, but waiting for all the other stuff I don't plan on doing again.

I have always waited for all patches to be out as I have never trusted them to work and not screw something up in a exsisting franchise, even though most of the time they say it works with existing franchises.

This year Im not waiting for all patches but will wait for the 1st patch because I heard you cant edit players in franchise and its a bug that got to be fixed. I always edit ratings in my chise as I go, as well as change some guys names if a callup gets the call that wasn't in the OSFM.

So as soon as the patch gets out and fixes the issue with not letting you edit players, that's when I will start, not waiting for all patches as I have always in the past, but boy will I be pissed if a patch screws up my chise, lol.

Sorry, but I can't agree with this statement. I always play one full season in offline mode and in previous years I haven't usually bothered to download patches (which mainly seem to concern franchise, rtts, online etc) because the game has run so smoothly for me out of the box. This year I have managed 8 games of my Pirates season but have already had to restart 2 games because of freezes and have had other bugs less major but still ones which have put me at a disadvantage. I no longer have any confidence that I will be able to finish any particular game that I start and the only thing for me to do is wait for a patch and hope that it clears up the problems I am seeing. I'd be the first to agree that the game is better than ever overall this year, but some game-breaking bugs have definitely taken the edge off my enjoyment so far.

Yep I remember waiting until deep May for them in past years like when Knight used to do them by himself. It's awesome having the community to help. Being out a week after opening day is huge. I'm staring my season tonight, no looking back.
