Throwing runners out at 1B from RF

I really dont think The Show is designed to throw runners out at first from RF. I can never do it because I'm either just late, or more often, (and I think the game is made to do this) pull the 1B off the bag... HOWEVER... I really think it's a design factor now because of my latest try. I had the guy out... thrown to first, 1B caught it before runner got there, stayed on the base, but he was called safe, and no challenge was triggered. I replayed it just to see, and I absolutely had him by a step.. it was close, but I had him... unfortunate.

I know what you mean but it's double. I did it twice yesterday.

I think it was in MLB 11 or 12 that it was super easy throwing guys out at first from RF. If there was ever a chance, it was almost automatic. They fixed it in a patch and now you either have a poor throw or the first baseman is pulled off the bag.

It is doable for sure. Last year as community challenge I re-created Jose Bautista throwing out Billy Butler. No One tried though

This is the correct answer. In MLB 12, it was super easy to throw runners out from 1B. They patched it, as they should, based on community concerns.

In MLB 13, it became a problem yet again because if you attempted to throw a runner out at first it resulted in an automatic error even though there was no error. This as well was patched.

So there is no doubt the game is designed to not allow for it. Either the baseman will not cover or the ball just won't reach the base in time. All remnants from past years fix.

I remember doing it in last years game. I have a video of it somewhere.

But I think it only happened once. I remember because Vasgersian said, "How slow can you be!?"

Two of my first three games I threw out guys who took too wide of a turn at first. Haven't seen it since and haven't ever thrown anyone out while still running to first

I've never done it as I've never even think about doing it.

Sure on a pissrod shot with a slug at the plate and a cannon in right.. but how mad would you be if you got thrown out at first all the time?

I still see people try it all the time, just in case they can get that once-in-a-blue-moon time where it actually works...it's funny.

Im not saying it should be possible. Im fine how it is. You said thats not how it works. Clearly it happens in real life.
