Re: Anyone else noticing CPU cheese?

Ouch!! That had to be frustrating. I dunno. I played a game last night where the CPU only scored 2 runs, in the 4th. And I cruised all game, winning easily 8-2. So should that should mean that there is a NON-Comeback code?

No, of course not. It's just... baseball.

For example, my first game I completed this year, I was winning 4-0 going into the bottom of the 9th. I give up a few hits, no biggie. I get 2 outs, and then 3 straight errors. 3. Straight. Errors. All of a sudden, it's 4-4 and we go to the 10th. (I did still win though )

I was really starting to worry we wouldn't see one of these threads this year. Game has been out for 2 days and its just now popping up?!
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Haha Two days! Must be a record!

In all seriousness, the last few editions of the game, I didn't see much of this. But it seems to be more prominent this title. I welcome difficulty since I won probably around 75% of my games in MLB 14 The Show, but it gets stressful.

Yes, I'm mixing up my pitches. No, I don't feel I have to throw strikes all the time. It's just crazy how I'm mowing them down, but the second I score, they turn into All-Stars and start to kill me. There's no real way to fix this on our end, I just wanted to see if I'm the only one getting these drastic results.

I REALLY hate to say this, but i do think there is cheese. You cant blame it just on dumb bad luck. It does happen and it has been happening to me. Runner on 1st, 2 out in the 9th....soft roller back to K-Rod....he throws it over the 1st baseman head into the stands. Next guy hits an 0-2 fb inside corner at his letters to score 2. Thats just 1 example. My 1!!!!! game before that was even more ridiculous. I dont wanna say there is that "thing" but its starting to get hard for me to rule it out

that does not exist in this game, either you are falling into patterns or you have a different copy as everyone else, I have varied games just like real baseball. Comebacks happen every day too in real baseball.

I really hate to say this...but your wrong, unless you have proof in the coding there is, and the devs said there isn't.. MAny here don;t have this issue......Maybe look at your own skills.

Re: Anyone else noticing CPU cheese?

Unfortunately last year I was one of the ones that grabbed my pitchfork and joined the hunt for the ogre. Yes I was met with hostility and I decided to just keep my mouth shut and thought about how I was playing. There is an old saying that if what your doing isn't working, try something else. So re-examined how I was playing the game and changed a few things on my end. This isn't a fix but one thing I did was use the mound visit when I see stupid things start to happen. I also stopped warming up relief pitchers while the starter is still on the mound. I do it now between innings.

Yes the comeback still happens on occasion but I have since put my pitchfork away. This is stuff that helped me and it changed my attitude toward the 'comeback code'. Maybe during a lead, your team gets complacent. I've coached a mens baseball team and I have seen it happen in real life. In the game you can't bring your team into the dugout and scream at them, but there are certain things you can do to try and take away the momentum.

These are just my opinions from someone who used to post about the comebacks. I'm not saying that anything anyone else is doing is the wrong thing. I'm just trying to get past the old negative person and become the new kinder/gentler kind of gamer.

                Cheers!

CPU Cheese? Yeah, last time I faced Aroldis Chapman.

I don't believe there is a "Comeback code" **** I just came back on the Rangers last night I hit a 2 run HR in the top of the 9th to take the lead

Re: Anyone else noticing CPU cheese?

                        A couple of things:

For those that are seeing this "cpu cheese", how many games have you played? Reason I ask is that I've now played about 30 games (26 Spring Training and 4 in regular season) and I honestly haven't seen any inkling of cpu cheese. I've had games that I won handily, loss handily, came back and won, gave up the lead and lost, games where I made a run but fell short, and got on shaky ground but steadied the ship good enough to get a victory. If you've only played a handful of games, I encourage you to play a solid amount of games and see what happens in all those games. I am not sure that 30 is really a good barometer, but it is at least more than a handful or a few.

If after playing a solid amount of games, you still feel as though you are seeing cpu cheese, then please record what you are seeing. Maybe its a bug of some sort that is being triggered by something. If you could video record your final inning or two and then submit it here and let the devs take a look and maybe they can pinpoint what is happening. And please record live gameplay, no replays, due to the fact they can see what is happening in "real time".

The devs have said repeatedly that there is no such code in the game and a vast majority of the members of the forum aren't seeing it, so instead of "venting" what happened, please record it so that it holds more merit than one's "opinion".

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

A mod should just merge the threads from 14,13,12 etc.. into 1 and bring it back every year like the "Warning Thread".

I think the reason it can feel like this is that often when you miss your location, your pitch will go right down the middle. Then if the CPU crushes that pitch, it could feel like cheese. I personally don't notice a lot of cheese or am worried about it, but I see where people are coming from. Basically, whenever a game becomes challenging or frustrating, you can claim cheese is somehow there.

I just lost a game where I was up 7-4 in the 8th and Andrew Miller was pitching as my set-up pitcher. Andrew Miller has been money for me for the better part of May but somehow in this inning he manages to get the bases loaded.

2 outs. Bases loaded. I'm 0-2 in the count.

My catcher tells me to throw a curveball outside of the zone. But the curveball is my lowest confidence pitch. I step off the mound asking the catcher to give me something else.

Nope. He asks for the exact same pitch....Curveball out of the zone. OK FINE.

I throw the curve but I missed my spot and it ended up straight over the plate and boom. Grand slam.

I ended up losing the game.

I didn't think this was cheese. I F'd up and missed my pitch which was a low confidence pitch and it ended up getting crushed for 410 ft.

I don't want to say "That's baseball." ....but ....you know...that's baseball.
