Anyone upset about the cut back of presentation?

Now I understand that it's almost impossible to complete a 162 game season in the show so cutting some of the animations would benefit most users, but what about the small percentage of users? I'm one of those users who likes to play all my spring training games and 162 season games with all the animations they used to have. It took me 2 years to complete the 2013 version of the show so i passed up on 2014. I've noticed in this years version that after you foul a ball off that it goes right into the next pitch sequence. This might speed up the game but what about when you're in a tight game and you're feeling the pressure at the plate. You're involved in a battle between the pitcher and you're fouling pitches off, it's a 3-2 count....I don't want to be engaged so quickly into the next pitch. I wish the animation of the batter knocking the dirt out of his cleats was still present. Adjusting his grip on the bat.... what happened to all of that? those animations gave you the ability to actually think about what approach you were going to take for the next pitch. Just my opinion but it kind of takes away from that intense feeling of the game. What do you guys think?

I get that some of you guys are upset, but personally I like the change, I have been X'ing through most of cutscences anyways and like its now I might actually reduce on that habit quite a bit and follow the natural flow of the game. Also those scence became repetitive after a while anyways so it's nice to reduce it to the necessary.

I feel the same way but at least they didn't completely remove it cause sometimes you'll see the batter take his time

I agree with you as well because there are times that I've been "X,ing" through scenes as well but having the option to do that should still be there. If it's as simple as pressing X then leave it in the game.

I'm one of those guys that X's through the cutscenes so I'm glad they took out the extra's. For me it was a waste.

I miss them. I understand that a lot of people skip the walk-ups and such, but I wish you could toggle them off and on to your preference. Certainly not a game breaker in any way, though.

I'm upset they took features out of MoM game play when they said MoM was unchanged from MLB 14 and yes I am one of those weirdos that when time permits likes to see all of the presentations. But I am not upset that some of them have been cutback. For the most part they are still there. Perhaps there should be a slider sort of presentations option. Starting with none for those likely to button mash anyway, progressing to minimal and extending to max presentations. Another thing I would love to see in the game is the complete "Take me out to the ball game" song during the 7th inning stretch. Of course this should be a setting which is defaulted to off. But it would be nice to have it in there (perhaps as a setting just like where you can override the weather) for every game.

Re: Anyone upset about the cut back of presentation?

A good number of people are and have been for the last couple of years now (since 2012). Incredibly ridiculous issue to have on any next gen title especially, where you'd think they'd strengthen a showcase of their new generation atmosphere they work so much to advertise (enhanced lighting, shadows, stadiums, player and crowd models, sounds, etc). Combined with the strides all other competing sports titles have taken to officially license broadcast rights of NBC in EANHL, FIFA licensing the entire Barclays Premier League ?? (unprecedented). All other titles build these elaborate broadcast systems (NBA 2K probably the most elaborate of all) and here in MLB The Show this rudimentary x out all broadcast elements system, in a sport where break in play and broadcast features, replays, actually matter the most to its sport. No one fouls at tailing slider off and warps back in for pitch 1.5 seconds later as is this is some form of fast break baseball. In fact, the Show doesn't even let you watch the ball go completely foul anymore, you just can assume it's gone foul and get ready for that next pitch. The manager decisions, mental strategy pitcher vs batter, and countless other reasons make pace of play one of the dominant issues in the sport of baseball. Here MLB the Show cheaply gives you a one option experience and makes the decision for you at this point.

Anyhow, as said, this issue has been spoken on and addressed to devs and the only reaction there has been to it, it appears, they have followed up this year and removed catchers even throwing the ball back into play after a pitch.

I know a person foreign to why players find this a big issue, would think it's probably lunacy to care whether the catcher throws the ball back in play or not. I'm sure that player's never actually did care, but it's removal is just a part of what is becoming a gigantic, embarrassing issue.

You never had to x, you could have simply select the other options such as broadcast off and played that way

Re: Anyone upset about the cut back of presentation?

I agree, baseball more than any other sport has a rhythm.

There is a lazy pace to it and that is what makes some people not like the sport.

Having X to skip is a great compromise, removing the presentation is poor. Have it all in there and if you don't want to see it press X.

That is exactly how it works now but they are gutting the presentation each edition.

The lack of tracking of foul balls is incredibly annoying. Particularly the situation where you pop one up foul to 3rd and it doesn't track it but you hear the crowd get excited and then the announcer says something like "the 3rd baseman almost got to that one". Huh? Show me please.

MLB the Show. THE SHOW. SHOW.

Re: Anyone upset about the cut back of presentation?

2 design choices I am not happy about.

                        1. If a replay of a batted ball occurs we do not get the next batters walk up. Huge mistake. Just huge. And highly annoying.

                        2. Foul ball follow camera....why elminate it for those of us immersed in the real tiem style presentation which has been bascically stripped away. I like seeing roped foul balls...heck all of them for that matter. Really dissapointed with that decisoin.

I love the game. It s the best vetsion yet no question. But taking away crtical presentation elements like those two....bad design choices for hardcore baseball fans imo.

There is a fast play presentation mode that does this (at least in last year's game).

Re: Anyone upset about the cut back of presentation?

I think they are basing some of these design decisions on the automated feedback they get when folks play the game. Their stats probably tell them that the majority of people X through the scenes that you have all been talking about, therefore, in an effort to speed up gameplay (a complaint by some) and to listen to what their stats are telling them, they decide to remove or alter certain things we have grown accustomed to and love.

What set Sony apart from the other developers was their ability to replicate the game of baseball and all of its nuances...the little things, so to speak. In a game as slow paced as baseball is, those things are necessary and appreciated by many. It looks like they are moving in another direction now though.

As all have said, why not leave in and let us choose to X through them if we want. I know that I have done both - xing through when in more of a hurry, but also have watched many of the cut scenes or follow ups (like foul balls) when I am taking a more leisurely pace to playing the game.

Don't take choices away from us. It can't be due to lack of space or size considerations. Go back to your original philosophy - making a game that thoroughly represents what we see on the field. Dull the lines between video game and reality. Subtracting these things is a step backwards for many of your most loyal fans.

                            Please reconsider.

Jeez. All the negativity on the forum is not helping my decision to splash the cash on a Ps4, or even the new game, for my Ps3. I stuck with 13 last year and am just completing 2015 with Astros (play every game) don't skip any parts........and to be honest judging by the negative opinions and things that are missing from the new game, will stick with what I've got another year. Its a lot of money SCEA....STOP TAKING THINGS OUT !!!
