    Bunting for hits too easy?

    Or maybe it's just me.

Using the directional (L/R) buttons seems to be having guys lay down perfectly executed down the line bunts so far for me.

    Anybody else seeing this?

Bunts have always been easy to lay down in the show. Which is funny because the majority of major leaguers are terrible at it and could not lay one down if their life depended on it.

It would be helpful if their rating had more bite in the success rate.

Last night during my Dynamic Difficulty resetting debacle, I played around a half dozen games where I intentionally tried to get myself out at the plate for every batter.

Aside from purposely swinging and missing, I laid down an absurd amount of bunts (I was the AL AS team, so these were sluggers not bunters) in an attempt to purposely get myself out.

I had several hits on perfect bunts down the third base line. They were all regular bunts and not last second drag bunts, by the way. My opinion is that it's way way too easy to bunt for hits this year but I'm also not going to pretend I have any statistics on bunt-for-hit success rate.

Its gonna be one of those things where you'll need to create a house rule on the #of bunt for hit attempts you cant try in a game. At least its not like Madden where you need to create a handful of house rules to just make the cpu challenging

Agreed. A slider for this would be good. The slider could I increase the number of bunted fouls. Higher risk less reward.

Yea, I'm finding also that I can drag bunt perfectly with guys that have like 20 in bunting and drag bunting. Pretty ridiculous. I just did it perfectly with Blake Swihart.

I guess I'm in the minority here as I haven't been able to bunt for a base hit yet. I've laid down sacrifices, but bunting for hits, I have not successfully done.

              Maybe I need to practice.

You should need to move the analog to where the ball is to bunt, would make it way harder instead of just holding circle and covering the entire zone.

They did this in High Heat. It did make it more difficult in a good way.

You use left and right to aim the bunt.

I was disturbed to see the CPU not reacting or adjusting to me bunting five times in a row with my speedy player, beating out each throw for an infield hit. Admittedly, it happened while I was blowing out the opposing team in a game that ended 22-3, so maybe they weren't expecting such total ***-hatery in a blowout. But still.

I'm going to try doing the same, see if it happens again.

Re: Bunting for hits too easy?

I'd say there are three issues in this game that make bunting too easy:

                        1) The bunt ratings don't matter enough. You can sacrifice or drag bunt right down the line with about a 66% success rate using any player in your lineup.

                        2) The AI catcher, pitcher, and third baseman are way too slow to react to the ball once the hitter shows bunt.

                        3) The fielding animations take way too long to play out because you can't "preload" a throw when fielding a bunt.

You add all those issues together, and you get a game that's completely imbalanced by super easy bunting.

Completely agree on the ratings not mattering enough. Maybe we need more testing to make sure this is actually the case, but it seems like there's no difference between a Brett Butler-esque bunter and someone like Ryan Howard; both players seem to be able to bunt near-perfect dead balls down the line at will.

The AI bunting when you are on defense in RTTS is ridiculous. Just had Derek Norris drop a bunt down with the bases empty and 2 outs. Happens way too much with any player.

Just wanted to chime in and say I agree. . Sac bunting is very easy. Bunting for hit is harder though. I also will have to come up with a house rule. Probably make it so that only a certain bunt rating can attempt a sac. ..
