Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
Love my franchise with the Rangers.
For me it brings up memories as my first ever serious Franchise has been with them. Was back when I didn't own a PS so I played MLB2k on PC.
Think it was MLB2k10 or 11, still remember many players who were on the Rangers back thenr; Hamilton, Nelson Cruz, Chris Davis, Chris Young, Kinsler, Torrealba C.J. Wilson, Alexei Ogando...- all of them are gone by now. I think only Beltre, Andrus, Moreland, Holland, Feliz, Harrison and Lewis are still there this year. However it still brings back good memories. I made it pretty far into the season back then, I never managed to complete a whole so this is an achievement lol.Spending time with Jesus!

Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
To me the Tigers are really exciting and fun to use especially since they lost Scherzer and Verlander has now dipped to around 85 overall. Adding Cespedes was huge and pretty much everyone in their lineup can hit but their so-so pitching makes for a challenge. Verlander and Sanchez are good but not great pitchers and their bullpen has question marks everywhere. Having David Price go out there every 5 days is nice and if you give him run support thats pretty much a guaranteed W. The Dodgers are also an exciting team, they have great pitching obviously but after Grienke in the rotation it's good but not great. After Hanley Ramirez, Dee Gordon, and Matt Kemp all left the team their lineup isn't as good but they still have Puig and Adrian Gonzalez who are fun to play with.Comment

I'd throw the Reds into this category. Awesome lineup and questionable pitching!Comment

Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
Here's the biggest thing for me personally. Play on a difficulty that makes you work for the runs and outs. I can win 100+ games easily on something like Rookie or Veteran difficulty with just about any team. However going to something like All Star or above and tweaking the sliders makes weaker teams play a bit more realistic in my eyes. People are quick to choose a team but sometimes the game itself isn't nearly challenging enough to make playing with a bad team a challenge at all.Maple Leafs ][ Blue Jays ][ Raptors ][ Bears

Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
Really struggling between a couple choices myself. The Giants have a beautiful stadium, some really fun pitching and a struggling offense. Seems like a good few pieces can return them to the WS, but taking a team who went all the way last year is a bit unappealing.
The A's are a fun atmosphere and can make a run at the WS with a couple solid additions as well. Similar boat as SF, but haven't won it all in awhile.
Lastly, (for now at least lol) the Rays. Have a fun roster with a good mix of young guys and vets. Could make a wild card run or possibly even a division title with a few key additions. I would say this team would be a couple years away with the right GM skills.Comment

Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
Ok, so I think the Texas Rangers will be my choice (if you read my opening post I didnt even consider them in the beginning lol).
Thier farm system isn't all that bad after all, although I already traded away 2 top 5 prospects and (Catcher Jorge Alvaro-B and SP Chi Chi Gonzales-B)and SP Wandy Rodriguez for SP Chris Archer (Rays). I think he can be a good No. 2 Starter behind ace Yu Darvish. Also his service time is low so this isn't just a short term investment.
Besides that I added Tyler Colvin - he'll be starting in LF. Another weakness was the BP, Rafael Soriano was a FA so I signed him to a 1 year deal. The last trade I made was for Philles Reliever Jake Diekmann, Phillies got Travis Demeritte (C-Potential). Both will be Setup men for Neftali Feliz.
With those changes the rangers can be a contender in 2015 don't you think? Solid rotation (with Yu Darvish being a real top shelf ace), solid line up, and solid BP and still decent farm system.
What do you guys think about my moves and chances?Really struggling between a couple choices myself. The Giants have a beautiful stadium, some really fun pitching and a struggling offense. Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
I'd love to acquire a dominant ace, closer, and power hitter throughout the course of time. I think they have a good farm for trading purposes if I do go that route, or could hold on and cash in on my vets and build solely for the future. This team has tons of roads and paths they can take.Comment

Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
Have you thought about being the Pirates? In my opinion they got it all. Solid foundation of players Marte, Polanco, Harrison, and Gerrit Cole & of course Mr. Pirate himself Andrew McCutchen. Awesome stadium w/ PNC park, get to play in the competitive NL central

Re: Most Exciting Teams for Franchise Mode
Would absolutely look to beef up the rotation. The obvious choice is Hamels, but the Brewers being as bad as they are have a couple options at SP to trade for. Also a few 30+ year olds around the league that could be solid contributors for a run within the next few years.

I think I'd leave the starting rotation as it is right now and add a power bat. Than at the trade dead line I might look to add an Ace from a team out of contention. Same with the BP, it's one of the better ones in the game already.
