Auto fielding is for children and the elderly.

Don't knock children man...apparently, if TV history is any indication I'm not even smarter than a 5th grader.

...on a serious note, why you say this? I used it last year as I felt I couldn't get the response time on my end (especially on the balls thru the 5 hole or up in the middle). Fielding is the least of my worry so I'm apathetic if the AI wants to do it while I watch from the mound.

Yup, there can only be your way to play. Excellent logic.

Just taking this statement for itself, you feel no intensity when playing the show? I find this half-way misleading as there must be some type of scenario that may not get your adrenaline up but at least makes you anxious or sit a bit closer to the TV.

I get the anxious feeling when I have a 3-1 count handed to me and Joey Votto is at the plate in a tight situation.

I also let out an "oooooooooooooo" every now and then when I feel the CPU hung me a breaking ball and I foul it off...same when I hang one I kinda cringe.

It's more of an entertainment thing which this game provides...kinda like watching a TV show/movie.

Manual fielding, definitely. I am playing the video game. I will see enough "auto" when I watch a CPU vs CPU game. Plus with assist, the CPU helps you out anyways quite a bit.

                    Auto fielding for me.

I make too many mistakes to enjoy the game. Pitching is hard enough as it is without me making it worse and conceding stupid runs.

Plus it means that I really have to care about who is on the roster when it comes to fielding.

Auto fielding and manual throwing all the way...always have. Better represents the ratings of the players.

I always used autofielding but this year I want to make the transition towards manual. Just having trouble right now to field fly balls, my fielder always seems to drop them.. any hints how to field them properly?

I also have Baserunning (and Fielding ofc) to Auto option. I have Throwing to just buttons without a meter. It's not about skills for me. It's about realism and having a game that relies as much as possible on individual player ratings and stats.

In the past I used Auto Fielding for the same reasons as others here. You get more animations with auto and I want the game to be a realistic as possible; missing a "can of corn" because I accidentally twitch the button the wrong way or one of my dogs hits my hand or something like that kind of ruins that.

I get that you get more "video game action" so it may be more fun for some, especially if you're good at it. I did use Manual fielding in the Giants/Royals game and had an awesome diving catch and threw the runner out from my knees with the SS. It felt awesome. I can see myself playing some games with Manual to see how it goes, but I'm sure that I will switch back to Auto as soon as I do something stupid.

I've used Auto base-running in the past as well, however I started using Manual last year when I was attempting an Online Franchise and it's much better than it was a few years ago. I'm hoping that I can stay on Manual base-running from now on, but see the "something stupid" line from above.

I like to have attributes affecting the game as much as possible. For that reason I use auto fielding, throw decisions on, timing(directional) hitting, classic pitching, and auto bass running. Love how the game plays that way.

Attributes affect manual control as well. I see plenty of dumb plays from CPU vs CPU games.
