Re: How many use "Auto Fielding" vs. going it on their own?
Playing online you get to experience the huge improvements to assisted (manual) fielding.
I still use auto field/manual throw for offline franchise play for simulation/statistical/presentation purposes and will never change that.
But since I am playing online as much as I am offline this season (incredible but online is that good and Diamond Dynasty is absolute baseball crack for me) I have had a chance to really sink my teeth into fielding again. It feels so much better than it ever has in the series history.
Capa as far as why it is called assisted. Basically once you get to the ball region it will trigger the catch/play animation. One of the main improvements they made this year is the animation is not triggered so early. So it forces you to track fly balls like IRL.
And it is highly satisfying. You can absolutely tell the difference between playing with top notch gloves vs average to below average gloves in the outfield. Ratings/speed matter big time. Now Playing on PS5:

And to be clear, I completely agree with you. I'd love to see something a lot less intrusive (especially on high pop-ups around the plate). Ideally, the return of the catch region indicator, that's tied to player ratings, with a smaller ball landing marker that's closer to the size of a baseball.

I played D-2 Baseball in late-90s'. played short and second, had an excellent glove and high fielding %.
i use auto field and throw only and classic pitch.

I am willing to bet these poll results are a huge eye opener to the development team. I am blown away myself. I would have guessed 10% of people did this.
Its probably too late in the game, but this thread could very well be the start of MLB 16 The Show's primary and featured improvement.
Not to say that the defense is bad. It's just the weakest part of the game. I bet if you combined this year's defense with the pitcher/batter interface from 5 years ago, nobody would complain about defense whatsoever.
Yeah I am shocked to I thought it would be like 5%.Comment

Re: How many use "Auto Fielding" vs. going it on their own?
I mostly play online, so even if I'm offline, I have it on manual to practice.
I actually like auto way better but, again, using it would just weaken my skills when I go online and can't use it.Comment

Re: How many use "Auto Fielding" vs. going it on their own?
Im not surprised with the outcome. Im coming from MLB2k series and I gotta say the fielding , especially the outfield fielding on the Vita is horrendous. Popups should not be this difficult. People said a lot of bad things about the 2k series but their fielding mechanics was spot on. I hate to say it but the fielding on the Show is just bad!Comment
