    Challenging Plays at 1B

Just saw my 2nd chance ever to challenge a play at first. The umps ended up overturning the call and I got the "You're My Boy Blue" trophy. Was just wondering how you guys are going to go about using this feature and how successful have you guys been so far?

For example it's probably silly if you challenge everytime you're prompted but then again what's the chance you are going to get another call like that at 1st for the game?

Any general thoughts on how they implemented this new rule into The Show and how to improve it, etc. is also welcomed

It will come up automatically if the play at first is close enough. You can't initiate it on your own.

It's for plays at 1st base only and you have to be prompted by a popup on the screen (I think its like Challenge? press x for yes square for no). I've only had it pop up on groundballs hit where a speedy guy looked to have beat it out but was called out. Never had it happen while I was in the field.

I believe I saw on one the the Pre-Release streams that challenges are only on the user side, so not sure how often you'll see one in the field.

Back to the OP, I've only had one so far and I challenged after the replay and it was overturned. As long as it looks to me that I'll win the argument I'll challenge every time.

The challenge system in Mlb 15 the show is not implemented well at all and if only the user can challenge and also only challenge at 1st base it is BROKEN, has anyone ever wondered why when challenges were first put into MLB that it was such a huge discussion on this site about how the show was going to do challenges, and how everyone was so upset when challenges werent put into the game, people asked to patch challenges, they never did it, Ok, now look at the other thread about the new tag system/animations, there is a reason they dont have challenges in the game the way they are in rl, reason being, the tag animations are so far off, there is no collision detection so when your player tags the runner his glove sweeps right through his leg, how can anyone challenge a bad animation? Challenges are a huge part of the game now and its bad to not have in game, i mean, ok so for arguments sake lets say MLB decided to make it so that only the home team can challenge, THAT IS THE SAME THING, that would not work. Or i know, lets only let the Patriots challenge in madden because they have more wins than the other team, it just makes no sense, Sorry if i sound like a jerk but i mean this whole challenge thing and the justifications i hear for the challenge system being the way it is, in my opinion YUCK.

I sure hope they dedicate considerable resources to this in next year's game. They have variable strike zones, blown calls, and different zones for different umps. This should not be that hard for them to do. They do not even need to be dynamic. A few animations of trapped balls, fair/foul calls, tags/no tags would add a lot to the game.

                  Re: Challenging Plays at 1B

In the first couple of months of franchise playing every game, I've seen it 4 times. Twice I decided not to challenge. One I challenged and won, and the other time I lost.

They only give you one replay and it's not always the best angle. On the one I lost, the second angle I got after I challenged showed me I was going to lose the challenge.

Tags would be difficult unless they eliminate clipping, and clipping is still something that plagues most games.

I wish they didn't force you to watch the compete animation. For example if I make my challeng or not decision before the replay is even shown and hit the X button I shouldn't have to sit there and watch the whole thing especially if I choose not to challenge Cuz at that point I don't care what the replay looks like.

Maybe they are trying to match real life where the managers waste time lol.
