Re: Okay, we need to talk about AI suicide squeezes

but its not only defensive positioning. It also has to do with the pitch that is thrown. Location of pitches..etc...

I'm curious as to what defense people are playing and what pitches they are throwing in these situations. I'm curious as well as to whether or not people are falling into a pattern when pitching. There are so many variables that are in play when it comes to anything in baseball that it usually not a cut and dry issue within the video game.

I can't help but wonder if the cpu being aggressive and not passive as in years past is frustrating people and instead of thinking each situation through, they are hurriedly trying to get through the storm and falling into patterns and thus causing themselves grief.

Maybe there is an issue with success rate. Maybe the cpu is too aggressive. I don't know. But in my experience with this game, bunting/cpu aggressiveness is actually fine.

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Yet another squeeze... the bot 7th, one out, down one run, TEX's Chris Owings (Bunt 38, Drug Bunt 34) squeezes in a tying run:

This sounds like a bug too me if true... Has this been mentioned as a bug before? I don't remember.

Re: Okay, we need to talk about AI suicide squeezes

Just watched OAK's Sam Fuld (Bunt 53 & Drug Bunt 73) squeeze in a go-ahead run in the top 7th with no out in a 2-2 game. The infield was in.

A player like Fuld attempting suicide squeeze may be fine, but with no out and still in the 7th inning... a risky strategy, especially when the team was hitting fine (8 hits thru that point).

I just keep posting these just to provide an idea as to how often I am seeing all these in CPU vs. CPU games.

havent seen that once. I rarely have had a successful bunt even laid down on me...prob cuz pitchers never see a fastball from me in that situation tho

I can't understand how people aren't seeing this as often as you. To the people not seeing it are you often tied in the last few innings of the game? That is when it is triggered. It's very mechanical almost automatic.

I've been tied, ahead, behind, and in many close ballgames in my 100+ games thus far. I've only recall seeing it once in all those games.

Same. I've seen it once for sure. Possibly twice. But no more. And that was within the first week. I know I haven't seen it since OSFM came out.

Re: Okay, we need to talk about AI suicide squeezes

Ok, so I've had a fair share of squeeze plays this year but not once did I think it had anything to do with cpu logic being messed up. However, this happened to me today:

Three straight suicide squeeze plays in a row to tie and win the ballgame. (!!!!)

I was playing against the Nats and was up by one in the ninth.
Men on 2nd and 3rd with one out and the first squeeze was done. It was a short pop-up to the pitcher which, of course, resulted in an E1. No runs scored, bases loaded. Ok, s£*t happens, I thought...
Next guy comes up, squeeze successful, game tied. Two in a row? come on!
Next guy comes up, third squeeze, the Nats win the game. Are you &€€&€ing kidding me??!
What's up with that scea? Heard abouth cpu being cheesers this year, but that was just unbelievable!

                        Some details:
                        Franchise
                        HOF+ Dynamic difficulty
                        9th inning

Kicking myself for not saving the video. Was just so mad...

I have only seen the squeeze play once, but I had pulled in the 3rd baseman had the first baseman in hold runner position. Rendon scooped up the bunt threw home got the out and then the catcher was able to throw out at first with and overturned appeal call.

I've never seen the AI attempt the suicide squeeze so much in any baseball game. Be aware with a runner on 3rd and less than 2 outs. They are not scared to squeeze.

Bases-loaded, two outs in the top 9th. 3-3 tie.

Eric Young Jr. (Bunt 64, Drug Bunt 82) of ATL at the plate, squeezes in a go-ahead run:

I can keep going like this.
