This is truly the first time that I feel like anything can happen during a game. No more players locking into catch animations, no more knowing beyond doubt that the ball is going to be caught in the outfield. I love the new feeling of playing the game of baseball that this version brings. Where things don't feel scripted anymore and that things can happen or even not happen. Because that's baseball.
Last night I was watching the Cubs game and when Polanco tripped and the ball dropped in play for a walk off win. I could just hear the crowd here on OS cry foul, that's a bug that would never happen in real life. I choked I was laughing so hard as my wife was looking on like I had gone mad.
Here on OS we are truly blessed to have the developers here listen to what we say and actually have interactive dialogue with us on what we want in this game. But I have seen that interactivity lessen over the last couple of years. Reading so many of the threads on here, I can see why.I really can understand why some people don't like this years game or for that matter any of the versions of The Show. But I have seen them take control over what was once, in my opinion the most intelligent and successful forum here on OS. This was the only forum, that up until about 3 years ago never had Millenium posting the yearly ban hammer post on opening day. The conversations were for the most part productive and constructive.
Yes this is a forum and a sports video game forum at that. Opinion will be shared and not everybody will ever agree on everything. That is a given. But there has to be a line somewhere we all say enough. I see new posters saying how they get shouted down by the vets when they post something negative about the game. A lot of that is true. However I see just as many cases of veterans, trying to help or share knowledge we have of years playing this game and talking to the developers, get rudely criticized and blatantly insulted for doing so. The developers and vets alike have been called to the carpet on things that have been explained over and over and still told they are wrong.
Is this or any game perfect in this day and age? Of course not and I don't think we ever will see one. I do have issues with this title but I am not going to talk about them here, there are enough threads talking about those. But I love this game. I am almost done with my first year of my franchise, a feat by the way I have never achieved this early in the year. I have never had as much fun with The Show as I have had this year and I have very high hopes for the future.
Thank you to everybody involved both at Sony and here on OS for helping to bring about a great year of baseball.
