    Simulating in Franchise?

For a while now, I've been wondering, how do people play their franchise? I know some people who play every single game manually, and some who play 5 games a month manually or one week a month (ect).

My question is how do some of you guys simulate and/or play your franchise?

*As a side note, I wanted to do a franchise where I would watch every game, but have both teams be computer-controlled. Can some one point me to a slider-set that is used to produce realistic stats?

I play all except if the series could be swept in the final game by either team. I sim that game.

Play one, skip two. If I call up a guy to make a spot start, I'll play that game so I can evaluate my prospect.

For the first year in my Cubs franchise, I had a battle in spring training where I started each of Edwin Jackson's & Kyle Hendrick's starts. Jackson ended up winning the battle so I have started each of his starts for the year. I simulate all the other starters. So far at the end of August, he is 10-5 with a 3.73 ERA. I will probably call up CJ Edwards or another prospect to begin next season and start each game with them.

I play one out of every 10 games, while rotating through my rotation. So I essentially play about 16 games per season and pitch every starter 3 times. I like this because it makes me have to really build a winner, and not just outplay the CPU to overachieve. Also, I can get through seasons much faster. Doing this I usually take the worst team in the league and try and build them into a contender. Currently at game 100 with Minnesota right now.

I play in increments of 5 so that I pitch with every starter and they all get an even amount of sim starts as well as human starts. For example, right now I'm doing 5 played followed by 5 simmed and so forth. Towards the middle of the season I'll do 5 played, 10 simmed and go back to 5 and 5 towards the end of the season. Playoffs I'll do 1 played 1 simmed and I always play game one to guarantee I play game 7 if need be. I've always done it this way and this makes me invest in players who's sim stats are strong if I want to make a playoff run.

                  I've done it two ways:

                  1) Play one game per series (usually the day games since I like the look of day lighting) and try to use a relative variety of starters. This is fun if you want more control over your stats.

                  2) Pick one starter and play all his starts (KingV2K3 turned me on to this method). This is fun because it allows you to move through multiple seasons more quickly and it allows you to take full ownership of one starter's stats, making it slightly more immersive in that way.

I'm currently doing #2 and am having lots of fun.

For simmed games, though, I actually go through the pitcher and lineup select screens and go into the game. From there, I hit exit and sim to the end. This allows me to stay involved in lineup management, whereas straight simming will put your bench coach in charge of off days and lineup shuffling. I don't like to leave that to chance, so I do it myself.

I play every single game of the Season, MLB 14 was the first year in which I completed a Whole Season in this manner. It took me 7 Months.

MLB: Kansas City Royals (AL) Milwaukee Brewers (NL)

Personally I like to play every game and I do play several of my minor league teams games as well thruout the season. Late in the season if Im way out of it or have a big lead in the division then I will sim a few games here and there, but I do try and play all of my games.

As for the sliders if your simming I think only stamina sliders for pitchers and injuries actually effect simmed games, although I could be wrong, but I do know those effect simmed games. Mangers hook on pitchers is also a slider that effects simmed games as well.

In reading through this thread, I'm surprised nobody utilizes player lock instead of simulating. It's a great way to have an influence on the game, but still continuing quickly. Here's what I do:

Play 1 game in a 3 game series. For the other 2 games, player lock a player (usually Kris Bryant) when a back end rotation starter is pitching. When one of my top 3 SP's are pitching (Lester, Arietta, and Wheeler) I player lock them.

In a 4 game series I play 2 games and follow the same rules for the other 2 games of the series.

10-15 random games a year, I like to get through the season and play the playoffs, also like the year to year signing players and calling up rookies. I will play 9 or 10 seasons this way before I get bored.
