    Hitting Slump

What do you do when you are in a hitting slump? I've lost 10 of my last 12 franchise games mostly due to my own lack of offense. Just wondering what are some of the things that others do to get out of the funk.

    Cheers!

    Re: Hitting Slump

I go to batting practice when my timing is bad or when I'm getting under the ball. But when I'm having a tough time seeing the ball I just stop playing.

I use contact swing with two strikes more often.

First pitch I look for a fastball around the middle of the plate.

If you can't get out of a slump, there's nothing wrong with lowering the difficulty.

This game really amplifies streaks and slumps. I went on a run where I won 17 and lost 3. I was considering upping the difficulty than right before I was going to I lost a close one. Than I lost the next one in a close game. And than the one after that. Next thing you know I lost 6 more. Nothing was going right.

I like that about this game. Just stick with it man.

I'm on dynamic difficulty, so it's pretty much lowering it for me. lol

My slumps are almost always caused by a lack of patience. I'm swinging at pitches low in the strike zone, so that I'm grounding out a lot or killing rallies with double plays. I'm always behind in the count, assuring I'll get less favorable pitches. Usually I'll start taking pitches. Until I get a pitch up in the zone out two strikes. That usually helps. If I'm unable to be patient, I turn it off for a day.

Sometimes, it's a timing issue. I'm just slightly late reacting to pitches. There is no adjustment for that. If my reaction is slow, I have to put the controller down for a night.

Exactly what I do, step away for a day or two and do something else, either play something else or actually go outside and go fishing or biking or something not gaming related in my free time for a couple days. Usually that does the trick for me. Come back with fresh eyes.

I've been taking breaks in the game. Just played it last night for the first time in 3 days. I know slumps happen and they just need to be worked through.

I did find one thing that seemed to help for now and that was changing my batter camera. I think the one I was using was just getting stale. Trying a different angle has kind of refocused my concentration on the pitch.

                      Re: Hitting Slump

I've recently gotten in a slump also but I still feel like a good hitter, I hardly strike out I'm just hitting into a ton of outs, I credit some of that to the cpu defense being a little too good. My thing is I just don't know when to swing. Fastball belt high down the middle with good timing results in a pop up and if I swing early I'm yanking the ball into the bleachers down 3rd or 1st base line. However, the cpu swings early on a fastball away and is able to pull it for a home run. I've gotten to the point now where I'm not sure how to get a hit it just doesn't make sense sometimes. I do everything I'm supposed to do but I just see the same outs, the same double plays, the same pop ups, I just don't feel rewarded for good hitting and having good at bats. Lately I've noticed a change on how pitchers attack you, On 3-1 and 2-0 counts I'm seeing less and less fastballs to hit and more off speed pitches. Constantly I'm seeing mistake pitches that I'm right on do no damage. I just have no idea when the game wants me to swing to get a hit. Do I have to swing early or late because having good timing doesn't give me the results I'm looking for.

If you got a good hit every time your timing was good do you think that would be realistic? In real life good timing does not necessarily equal good contact. Sometimes things just aren't going to go your way, that's baseball. It's all about figuring out how to work through them, just like IRL.

I understand that it's baseball and it happens but the amount of times it happens is astounding. I'm seeing it multiple times per game, I'm not saying I deserve 100 hits a game but when I'm on all over a sub par pitcher and he's leaving me mistakes I need to be able to take advantage. If the pitcher is beating me and mixing his pitches well then okay, but when I'm doing what I'm supposed to to get hits at a certain point I want to be rewarded.

I'm not saying every time I have good timing I need a hit. I'm saying anytime I have good timing on a MISTAKE pitch, I should be awarded with hits more often. I'm getting more hits by being early or late on them and I think it should be the other way around.

ya for me as well, i just have to shut the game off for a day or so. but usually when im starting to lose, during the next game i play i tend to start getting frustrated and start swinging at everything.
