I've noticed that I do that too. I start swinging at stupid pitches and not working the count. I get more focused on just getting a hit, any hit, rather than sticking to the gameplan.

      Re: Hitting Slump

Ugh. I was wondering if a thread like this had already been posted, because I was planning on creating one.

Just when I think I got hitting figured out, the game just craps all over you. Up until a week ago I was struggling with Dynamic difficulty so I was sticking with All Star+. So I figured I'd give dynamic a try again -- I went on a tear, increasing from all star+ to Hall of Fame+ (++++). So basically, I was on the cusp of promoting to Legend.

Then a night later, the slump starts. I go from getting 14-18 hits in a game, down to 5-6. What? I demote all the way down to All Star, and even come within an out or two of demoting to Veteran+. I was so pissed. I mean I stopped playing the game for 2 nights, opting for Project CARS instead.

I got back on the wagon last night. Made a conscious effort to be more patient, and take the first pitch. (I had been swinging mindlessly at every first pitch, to the point where I was doing out of habit.) Ultimately, I am back up to HoF difficulty. If you are not patient with this game, it will eat you alive. Oh, and I turned my dynamic difficulty progression slider up all the way, so I promoted faster.

But, yeah, other than that (patience) -- and swinging more with contact swings on 0-2, and allowing the pitcher to throw crap pitches outside and into the dirt -- I can't really say I have an answer for you! As I said, I think I have it figured out now, and tomorrow I will be baffled again! :o

For RTTS I like turning off the strike zone and having hot zones on preview, since I don't need to worry about pitching and I feel like it helps me be more patient.

When I have guys slumping, batting under .250, or have the snowflake icon, I only swing with the contact button(circle) instead of normal(cross) or power(square). Might be placebo but it has worked for me to get Tex, McCann, and Beltran out of terrible slumps.

I am playing as the Braves. SS Simmons is on terrible slump. 0 for 18, but he is not striking out. He's the ball right at em. I gave him an off day, which was before a team day off. He'll turn it around I'm sure...

              Cheers!
I just keep playing through it. It'll snap.

My rtts player was batting .100 with a couple homers through April. In May, he started hitting like he should.

He went on to be the MVP.

I have noticed that when im in a close game or a losing streak i have a tendency to press with my star players which causes more strikeouts and popups, Then witth the not so good players i work the count more because (those batters are there to make the pitcher work) problem is, I shoud be doing the opposite, Make sure you REMEMBER to work the count with your star players, And if you play with QC on make sure to REMEMBER to look at the count before you recieve your first pitch lol.
