Thoughts for MLB 16 the Show (offline)

First off let me say that this years game is probably one of the best baseball games that I have played in a while, they really did a good job with this years game. Coming from an offline franchise player here are a few things that really can make this game even better, in no particular order.

    1. This has more to do with Sony than SCEA. Try to bring back sounds of the show, I cant even begin to tell you how awesome and cool it was to have the players real life walkup songs, HR songs, and victory songs playing in the game.

    2. Keep expanding on the equipments in the game, This was a big step in this years game, here are some examples of some big brands that are missing from the game.
Bats: Chandler Prospect Series, Old Hickory
    Batting Gloves: Louisville Slugger, Mizuno
Gloves: Mizuno, All-Star, SSK, Spalding, Louisville Slugger
    Cleats: New Balance
Misc: Evo-Shield, nearly every wrist, leg, and elbow guard is branded by evo-shield. Also try to bring in the Camo-designs, basically every MLB team has one.

Also It would be cool if you can add an option to have a pitchers first and/or last name on their gloves, a lot of pitchers have this.

    3. Uniforms, I think that it is time to revise the uniform slots, some teams are starting to have more uniform combinations than you guys have slots. For example the Mets, and pirates both have Military uniforms that cant be used in the game because of not enough slots.

It looks like this started this year. For players that are wearing Stirrup socks they have a team logo on the bottom of the sock. Except for teams that already have a design on their socks like the Rays, and Cardinals.

    4. Gameplay Logic A: for the most part its pretty good but I think the CPU has to do a better job of bringing in a relief pitcher especially in the middle of an inning, For example a lot of time in my franchise I will have a good lefty hitter coming up and there will be a righty on the mound and a lefty ready in the bullpen, In real life you will see them bring in the lefty, in the game this does not happen unless the pitcher gives up runs.

B: Players durability needs to be a little stronger, especially for players that play first base and DH, Players shouldn't be dead tired after playing 5 days in a row.

    5. All-Star weekend, Have to update the home run derby rules, with the brackets. And PLEASE HAVE THE TEAMS WEAR THERE REAL JERSEYS DURING THE ALL-STAR GAME!!

    6. Rosters: I think its time that you allow the option for a 6 man rotation, some teams are starting to go to this, and a lot of teams use this when the rosters expand in september.

let me know what you guys think or what should be added?
    NFL- Minnesota Vikings
    MLB- New York Mets
    NHL- New York Rangers
    NCAA- West Virginia Mountaineers

Number 5 can't happen there isn't enough memory on the disk. This was said by the devs in one of the threads before the game came out this year.

redsox4evur is right, it has been talked about several times on here why it is like it is. Also I'm sure they will update the homerun derby rules, nut they changed the rules to late for them to get into this years game.

I do agree with you about the stamina level of the players. That really needs to be fixed.

I believe this was specific to the PS3

The PS4 cannot do individual team jerseys for the All-Star game because it causes a huge framerate drop (I believe it was down to 30FPS or slightly below)

I would like to see trading tweaked again. This year there are far too few trades.

Baseball is great due to the number of trades and the players involved. Look at what is happening in the MLB and the quality of players and amount of players switching teams. It makes it exciting.

Give us the ability to edit contracts during Franchise Mode. This is a must. I also like the suggestion about allowing for 6 man rotations and, of course, Sounds of the Show has to return.

This shouldn't be the case with PS4 or digital distribution

Why are additional jerseys not DLC (paid or otherwise)? Because of the slot system for uniforms in the game. This might not have been a problem before (why change the game if you couldn't even fit them on the disk if you did?) but that excuse is gone and it's time for a change

It's not a memory/disk issue, it's a frame rate issue. Having the different jerseys on the field at once causes a significant drop in frame rate.

But this doesn't make logical (or programming) sense

Why does having more possible jerseys for teams impact framerate if they aren't even loaded into memory. It's not like offering the Mariner's Sunday alternates should impact frame rate at all, anymore than the throwbacks lower my frame rate when I wear home colors. Only one uniform will be used during the game REGARDLESS of how many are available in the game. It only loads one hat, one shirt, and one pant

If including more jerseys in the game impacts frame rate, they have something broken that needs to be a priority to fix. No other game's performance suffers from extra textures/model assets not being actively used

I think it would be awesome to see an ability to build new stadiums in franchise mode, and possibly relocate teams. Would be awesome to play as the A's and build them a new ballpark, or play as the Rays and relocate them. I can't remember if it was The Show, but wasn't there a game in last gen that you could build a stadium and add to it as you made money?

This leads perfectly to my next request, an owner mode or a way to make team funds matter in franchise. Similar to how Madden is trying to do it but without the many flaws lol. I could care less about setting ticket prices and the price of hot dogs, but if we just got X amount of revenue based on the attendance of home games plus Y amount for every game played for a local TV deal, and then that money is what we could use to either pay salaries, save up to build a stadium, upgrade the stadium, things along those lines. I think that could be a really fun addition to franchise mode.

The gameplay is great. There is always room for improvement, but gameplay is the least of my concerns at this point.

Off the field stuff needs a ton of work. The progression/regression issue with pitchers vs. position players and highly rated draft picks has been discussed and is a huge issue. This starts impacting stats as soon as season 2. By season 3 I had a grand total of 6 players combined in both leagues with an BA over.300. That's in season 3. I shudder to think what it will be like by season 6 or 7 considering that hitters in AA are struggling to hit .220 against the super pitching.

Way too many CGs. There are many players with 4 or more CGs when many teams don't have more than 5-10 CGs all season.

Too many players retiring for "age" coming off great seasons. Lot of guys at 34 and 35 retiring after solid seasons. Not really realistic there.

some of the other issues like improved trade logic, improved lineup management, and improved decision making on free agents and contracts have been long term issues in all sports games but I think they have been making progress in The Show. I can actually deal with the trades in this game for the most part, whereas I can under no circumstances play NBA2k without 30 team control because the trades and roster moves drived me batty.

So here's hoping the new version fixes the progression/regression issue on franchise mode and fixes the retirement issue.

On gameplay, my only major complaints are difficulty with the flyball system (I finally switched to auto field) and the occasional LAZY play from a fielder (usually pitchers and catchers) on a ball that costs them an easy out because the animation takes way too long.

I hope in Franchise mode, when we try to sign new players in the offseason, there's a better way to gauge how interested the player is in our offer. That bar means jack diddly squat, because a majority of the time they're gonna accept a contract from a team for much less $$ and fewer years. This ends up leading to the fact that it's hard to land big name guys a lot. Also, a majority of the free agents are 33+ when simming into future years.

What I'd like to see is something (like an email from the player, like in OOTP) that shows us if they're interested or not. It could potentially ruin how you handle your team if you have to keep simming days in order to see if he accepts your offer, before he declines, signs with someone else, and now you're stuck with a hole at a position. Basically, I just want to see a revamped negotiation period.
