Does the MLB enforce similar rules to The Show as the NFL does to Madden?

I posted a similar post like this in the NBA2k forum, but for those of you who do not know, the NFL over the past few years has come out and told EA that they were not allowed to have certain features in the game. For what ever reason the NFL had, they had to remove features like:

    Concussions
    Getting your helmet knocked off
    The incredible Ambulance!
    Celebrations
    Not so dynamic crowds
Creating your own jerseys in franchise mode
    Player suspensions

So I was wondering if the MLB forces rules on The Show or even Live to make the game more "kid friendly" or to help make their league look better?

I know the dynamic crowd thing is more effective The Show, but on the end of injuries, I drove a HARD line drive off of Phil Hughes nose with Miguel Cabrera, and he bounced back to pitch another couple of innings. Now I am not asking for something similar to a Mortal Kombat fatality, but come on....

In the past, things like suspensions (steroids, etc) and bench-clearing brawls have been mentioned. There have been other things discussed/speculated (relating to customizing leagues, divisions, etc) and I'm not sure how extensive the list formally is but, yes, the MLB wants their game/brand represented in the best possible light.

I have read many times that MLB licensing rules are the main reason The Show does not and will not have:

      -brawls
      -Expansion mode/create a team
      -team relocation/renaming/etc
      -Create a Stadium

Granted, most of these I have read from posters on this site, I don't think I've seen a Sony San Diego Studios rep/developer specifically address these issues as licensing issues.

Create a Stadium has been on a lot of wish lists for a long time, but the only way I see Sony SDS being able to do this would be for offline exhibition and offline Diamond Dynasty games. Seems like it won't be allowed for Franchise modes unless something changes.

Bench clearing brawls I understand but I'm not sure why relocating a team or custom uniforms and logos would be an issue. Madden has the relocation included although you are limited to their cities, uniforms and logos.

Diamond dynasty has custom teams and logos. I suspect is it simply an issue of no desire to spend programmer hours on it from SCEA.

As others have denoted....yes...there are DEFINITELY rules that the MLB enforces on SCEA.
For instance....the "snot rocket".....If you remember in previous versions (maybe pre-11?) the pitcher would hold one side of his nose and blow.
It was a little joke....realism? ...cut scene that the MLB told SCEA they had to remove.
Brawls have been mentioned.....arguments.....and a strict adherence to guides(although some don't want to believe it...I know) as well as appearances of stadiums and through the MLBPA appearances of players(not being able to edit certain items)...
Sports teams protecting their product and video games have become big business and is not as fast and loose as it once was.

I find it funny that how the NFL, MLB, and NBA want to show their product in the best possible light in a video game. Yet all a person has to do is flip it on ESPN, NFL Network, or any other sports show and you will read "X player has been suspended for PEDs" or "X player has been suspended for domestic violence".

Though I can understand the MLB not wanting the Show to put in brawls.

Yeah, that and the fact OOTP evidently has none of these limitations despite being a popular baseball game as well.

              Nice consistency there, MLB.

Text based simulators have different set of rules. OOTP is a simulator with no actual gameplay. Stat and text based is all it is. Big difference there.....

Text based and fantasy league games don't have to adhere to the same rules as video games.
With this being the first year that OOTP has an official MLB license...do they still have drug suspension in the game?...

The difference being that in 2006...the MLB would not give license to a fantasy league...CBC(or CBC used the names/stats and didn't pay....I can't remember). CBC got proactive when the MLB demanded they stop using the player names and stats.....and asked for a court decision(knowing the MLB would eventually sue them since they didn't stop using the info)
I'm fairly certain the case hinged on the predication that facts cannot be copyrighted and the MLB doesn't actually own stats...and even the names of players. CBC won the case and text/fantasy games were not bound to the MLB in anyway.
The difference with video games is the likeness. For that...they need permission and the license....and that includes everything including the way the sport is actually portrayed to be played.

I believe it is. I don't have the 16 though.

                    Probably still a toggle.

There are no drug suspensions in MLB-based games on OOTP 16. I believe there are still suspensions for fights, however, which is probably not as bad in a text-based game as opposed to gameplay you'll actually see.

Not necessarily, remember MLB Slugfest had brawls. But it was all off camera.

It did, but like you said it was all off camera. Also, there hasn't been a Slugfest game since 2006, and the MLB has cracked down much harder since then.

Yeah, that is hilarious. Don't put that stuff in the game, keep that stuff to, you know, literally everywhere else the sport is covered and discussed.

If the MLB is all against brawls why aren't players/coaches engaging in the get a proper punishment? More effective is banning them from a video game of course...
