Re: Scripted Innings!
This game does have scripted moments, though. It has predetermined whether or not an error was going to occur. I forget the exact reason I was certain of this, but I believe it's because the game selected my RF even though it was going straight to my second baseman.
Anyway, that's probably through a random calculation that an error was going to happen by that amount of probability. I don't think this already determined it before the pitch, though.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Scripted Innings!
I'm sure tons of real life pitchers with ERA over 6.00 believe the MLB is scripted as well :-)

Re: Scripted Innings!
Please get rid of scripted innings. Unless your killing the CPU it seems like the only innings they score in are the 3rd, 5th and 7th and it gets frustrating. Example: I'm Cubs playing Mets.
3rd inning back to back double for a 1-0 Mets lead
I score 4 in the 4th.
Top 5 they score 3 on a 3 run HR by Conforto after back to back walks where both batters should've struck out after balls where called when they were clearly strikes.
Tied 4-4 top of 7
1 hopper to Bryant to throws it away.
Grounder back to pitcher he over runs the ball E1
Next batter inside 0-2 fastballs hits it down left field line for RBI single
Next batter lazy fly ball to RF Soler running under it and it does that stupid fielding glitch and goes over his head for a inside the park 3 run HR.
And I turn off the game.
Not 1st time it's happened it's happened many times! Hope this is fixed next year!
Happy Holidays
And would like to hear if anyone else is having same issues
It reminds me of a real life scenario about Greg Maddux in 1999...
Maddux informed [personal catcher, Eddie] Perez that they would never pitch Jeff Bagwell inside. But with the Braves holding a four-run lead against the Astros on Aug. 11, 1999, Maddux opted to come in on Bagwell, who sent the offering what Perez estimated to be "500 feet foul." Later in the same at-bat, the former Astros slugger drilled another inside delivery deep over the outfield fence.
"I was mad," Perez said. "After the game, I was like, 'Why? We could have struck him out like we always do.' But he was like, 'They have a good team and they might be in the playoffs a few months from now.' But I was like, 'Whatever, dude, I want the complete game and I'm not worried about three months from now.' "
Two months later, the Braves met the Astros in the National League Division Series. Maddux completed a perfect first inning in Game 1 by striking out Bagwell with an array of pitches away.
"When we were walking back to the dugout, he said, 'Do you remember two months ago?' I had already forgot about it. But he said [Bagwell] was looking for the [inside] pitch the whole time. Then he turned around and laughed. That's something I'm never going to forget."Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Re: Scripted Innings!
Look man, as far as I'm concerned it's as simple as this: every game is winnable.
Unless you can demonstrate you made the correct decision in 100% of variable situations, there is no argument to be made here.
I'd argue 90% of all games played come down to a handful of decisions: that horrible pitch you swing at that you should have taken back in the fourth with two on and one out, for instance - for all you know THAT was the game; had to you taken it, the next pitch would have been a meatball for a 3-run HR and you would have won by two instead of losing by one. So on and so forth.
I find it particularly funny how baseball fans in general are so nitpicky about how their managers manage a game, fans want hall of fame managers fired almost everywhere your look - are you that nitpicky about your own moves?
Maybe instead of whining about how you got lit up in the 7th because of "comeback code" you should consider that your move to pen (or sticking with your starter) was dumb as hell. Maybe instead of claiming "comeback code" you should be more cognizant of swinging and missing at a pitch two feet out of zone with the bases loaded back in the sixth.Last edited by NEOPARADIGM; 11-20-2015, 08:50 PM.Comment

Re: Scripted Innings!
The game isn't scripted...it just as dramatic as real baseball.
Mid relievers are not as good as late inning guys and starters so runs get scored. Just like in real life...
Go and watch the World Series and if this was the Show you would say some of the innings were scripted. If you play with a team with a lights out bullpen you will find those "scripted" innings do not happen as often against you.
That being said...I have had innings both in Diamond Dynasty and in Franchise where my usually reliable late inning guy just didn't have it and gets roughed up. You can feel it. That happens in real life too.Comment

Re: Scripted Innings!
comebacks are cheating? hmm i've done a lot of cheating then
baseball is streaky, it's that way even if you play online. I scored no runs for 3 straight games once, then 9, 8, 4, and 5 in the next four games. if that was the CPU, it might have seemed like it was cheating those 3 games i couldn't score, but actually, i missed all the hittable pitches with RISP in those games. that happens in baseball.Comment

Re: Scripted Innings!
I guess it was scripted for the Mets to lose in the WS too, right?
I have never noticed this game being scripted and you offered poor evidence to why you think it is.
Plus to what advantage would they have scripting games?

Re: Scripted Innings!
Gee i wonder why these types of threads pop up every year, maybe because the game is scripted and some of you are in denial but you also have to consider the fact that everyone's definition of scripted maybe different.. Ive played the Show since its inception and every year this is what happens almost every single game.. Cpu gets down in the count 0-2 or 1-2 and then its foul, foul, foul, little dribbler right past the reach of the infield for a base hit. Batter after batter after batter until they score runs to tie or go ahead. It happens way too much for it not be scripted in my definition. Its frustrating, the cpu can just barely get its bat on the ball to where it just squeaks out of the infield always in critical situations.. But yet I the player can never do that.. Its always either a single, or a double and then a HR. I never string single after single after single after single after single all with two strikes... Thats SCRIPTED to me. If it happened once in awhile, I would be ok with it but it doesn't just happen once in awhile, its EVERY SINGLE GAME all with two strikes in crucial situations. Oh and yes i do change pitchers and it still happens. Its so bad, I don't even pitch anymore, I just hit..Comment

Re: Scripted Innings!
I thought we've already established this? There isn't a line of code that influences CPU comeback. However, the CPU does pick up on patterns as the game progresses and wouldn't you know typically by the 7th inning, the CPU is getting a third look at what you think is good pitching but really the CPU has already picked up on your common patterns such always starting off each batter with a fastball. Then, factoring in fatigue, if you're using your SP, pitches that were painting the corner are now covering more of the plate, poorer pitch command, it happens. Errors? Other events of "randomness"? They happen too. It wouldn't be realistic for you to win every close game, would it?

Re: Scripted Innings!
I can't believe this whole thread is a thing. Maybe I'm just really good at mixing up my patterns and shutting a team down. I've had mid-relievers get hammered before, but that is just a thing that happens.Comment
