Obviously we would need MP3 support on PS4 first, but is this something that we may see return this year?

My opinion is that both Microsoft and Sony gimped the media features of their consoles to encourage people to buy more digital video and music. Otherwise people would be streaming and storing their own music and video.
Patches have restored some functionality enjoyed on 360 and ps3 but you can't even listen to music in the background on Xbox one without "snapping." Unless an update changed this.
So what this ultimately means for developers is that they lack the tools to do custom music easily.Comment

The difference being that Sony does allow you to avoid paying for streaming services by allowing you to play all of your own music with the USB MP3 player. The question is can SCEA use that method for SOTS vs playing music off of copied files to the PS4 HDD like the PS3 does.Comment

I doubt that the games themselves have access to the USB files but I could be wrong. Assuming the games do have that access, seeing how limited the media player is on the PS4 for playing music files off of the USB stick I think you would potentially have to create a folder for every separate instance that you wanted music to play if you wanted to play more than one music file for a situation. AFAIK there's no way to do a proper playlist in the PS4's media player otherwise. It would be a bit of a pain in the rear but should the game have that sort of access to the USB files it would be a possible plan.
I do wish Sony would allow for the PS4 to store mp3 files from the USB stick but until then I don't think we'll see a real use for Sounds of the Show, which is a shame.Comment

The develops should add all of the songs from past versions to MLB '16. With The Show '16 playlist and songs from past versions that would give consumers an extensive library of songs to listen to and use for Sounds of the Show.Comment

It's really a shame. I didn't think it would take this long for them to add mp3 compatibility when I bought my PS4 at launch. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if we never get it.

I used to play this game everyday, I loved the sounds that were so kindly distributed by everyone here. It made the game feel alive, and since this one little feature, that was so nicely implemented has been shelved, my mlb gaming has as well. This will probably be the first year that I won't buy this game.
The only thing that would get me to buy now without sounds of the show would be a full expansion mode offline for franchise, with create a team and create a stadium. I just don't see it happening. They have all this diamond dynasty stuff which would work perfect for this mode, but they insist on keeping this mode to online play. Oh well, I guess I'll wait and see, these guys deserve that for the fine work and communication they have done.PSN - miacanes12Comment

It would be amazing integrated with Spotify, since you can create custom playlists very easily. USB connectivity would be great as well.

How would you feel about SCEA partnering up with Spotify to include all real life walkup music that Spotify has licensed? All it would say is "Sounds of the Show, sponsored by Spotify" and we get access to real life walkup songs.

SOTS was an amazing feature for those that invested the time and effort to create the playlists, broadcast music, etc.
I had Sunday Night games set to the ESPN intro music, Saturday to the old FOX Baseball music and some for TBS too. Lots of fun!HE'S GOT ONE FLAP DOWN!Comment

Will anyone from the dev team (or the community day group) let us no yay or nay on SOTS for '16 on PS4? Or will we have to wait closer to the launch date for a concrete answer? From what I'm reading it's not looking too promising for this upcoming iteration either
