I am curious about something. This technology has solely been shown with the pitcher do the other players on the field have the foot planting?

Yes. I think the pitcher around the mound is just the simplest/clearest instance that its benefits can be displayed.

Ok great, thank you! I am anxious to see it with a shortstop in the hole or the third baseman crossing into foul territory to fire a throw to first.

It always bugged me when watching replays or on strikes to see some of the pitchers feet slide. It's great to know that the other players on the field will have foot planting.

What other sports games have this?

Still a SMALL amount of jank in the transition from running to the catching animation, but the entire sequence looks night and day to what that same sequence would look like last year.

What would the data flow chart, or whatever it's called, look like? Maybe 4 or 5 animation types being blended together just on the turn alone?

Big step forward. From watching the streams there still seems to be a lot of work to do on transitions, but this is night and day. The one animation sequence/transition that I think always has stood out the most is when a fielder goes in the ready state animation. Just has always looked odd. Looks way better and hope this leads to animations to improve every year in more drastic ways than in the past. But getting rid of most of the feet-slide will go a long way, even if our eyes can only really appreciate it in replays.

I think this feature is flying under the radar a little bit, at least in terms of it's potential. The smoothing out of the animations is great, but I'm pretty sure Human IK will allow for players to better interact with objects in the stadium. The first thing that comes to mind is players better interacting with walls. Wall climbs and plays along the stands in foul territory would be nice to see.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but from what I have read about human IK, The Show is using it for transitioning between their own animations. Animations like climbing the wall and leaning over the walls into the crowd I think are on SDS's end. Transitioning into that animation will look smoother though from what I am getting.

ok i by no meas have any idea how long it takes for motion capture to work for one thing...

however in my mind... if done properly you could get each actual player in and have them run through every motion they do in real time... and then we would have every players stuff in there...

we do however have to seriously work on the catcher stuff behind the plate... there is def not enough movement behind the plate for blocking balls or all that...

                          just my .02...

You are going to have over 1,500 people come to the studio to do mocap? Sounds reasonable!
