Re: Manage Only Mode Thread
About time someone asked about management mode. I hope they haven't completely forgotten about us. I just hope M.O.M. doesn't get messed up by some of the changes they made to the game. -
Re: Manage Only Mode Thread
I like to build around speed and I see pickoff moves have changed. I wonder if we will return to a couple years ago when your runner took a huge lead and got picked off too often.≡Comment

Re: Manage Only Mode Thread
That is my biggest concern. I adjusted zero sliders in the show 15. Best case scenario the game plays at least as good as last year and we benefit from new stuff added to franchise.

One other area I would like to see addressed is bunting. I know they said they changed player's individual bunting skills and I would assume that that change would make it's way into MoM since it should be common code across all modes. But the problem in MoM games is where the batter will attempt to bunt no matter how far out of the strike zone the pitch is once you call for a bunt is annoying. I can only hope that this issue is finally fixed as this does not happen to the CPU teams. Hope for the best but expect the status quo?
PS: I am a software developer myself and I am perfectly aware of the challenges the SDS DEVs face. So if I sound critical of bugs being released, know that I too have released bugs in my own releases. It happens. Fix one thing and break something else. LOL. I will say SDS makes one of, if not the best sports games. Every year I say "I should save my money and skip this year" and every year the SDS team comes up with some compelling reason for me to say "screw it, just buy the damn thing". Last year it was the dynamic seasonal lighting. This year it appears to be around the presentation and game play improvements.Last edited by My993C2; 02-26-2016, 12:41 PM.Comment

Re: Manage Only Mode Thread
I am going to assume that MoM games will be pretty much unchanged. However since they announced that they have changed pickoffs in the main user game modes, I am curious to see what if any effects this will have in MoM games. I hope they test the mode before the release. We don't want a repeat of two years ago when the MoM pitchers only threw strikes down the middle of the plate on every pitch. Fortunately there was a work around and the bug was patched about a month after the release. But they clearly never bothered to test MoM for the MLB 14 release. How can you miss that sort of thing. LOL

Give me last year's gameplay with this year's graphics and franchise improvements and I'll be a happy camper. The part I bolded is always a concern - nothing happens in a vacuum.≡Comment

Re: Manage Only Mode Thread
I don't know what they could improve about MoM, except maybe calling pitches, and maybe the bunt thing... but you know MoM is good enough for me, and I coach select baseball.
My problem with MoM is that it just takes to long to play. I'll play game 7 of my franchise playoffs with it on though lol, it makes things more tenseComment

Put it on fast play, it doesn't take more than about 45 minutes to play the average game.≡Comment

Re: Manage Only Mode Thread
Are you aware they included an option to change the countdown clock to zero in the show 15? No need to push a button any more. Prior to that you are correct, it was a major problem.≡Comment

Re: Manage Only Mode Thread
You don't actually have to touch a single button in a MoM game if you didn't want to. Now chances are you would lose the game if you were to start it and then come back a hour or so later once it has completed. Once one of your pitchers loses all their energy or they lose their confidence they need to be replaced and replaced with a pitcher who is sufficiently warmed up. One of the things I really like about MoM is yes even though I am not controlling the players, my decisions in the game as the manager can influence the final result. Most of the time I let the pitchers do their thing, most of the time I am not telling them where to throw the pitch. It's only when I am facing a pull hitter and the defense has shifted, or if the batter is down 0-2 and I know a certain sequence of called pitch locations can result in a strike out about 40% of the time. Or if I need the pitcher to pitch around because I don't want him to throw a meat ball down the middle of the plate and risk having it knocked out of the park. In those cases, I will tell the pitcher what to do. Of course I also play with the Rockies, one of the worst pitching staffs and even when I call for a pitch low and away doesn't mean it will be low and away. LOL
I'd love to see the MoM bunting issue fixed. I'd love to see pick offs back in the game. I'd love to see defensive quick shifts added to the mode. I'd love to see MoM exhibition and/or playoff games (still confused why they are not allowed), I'd love to see MoM online games. Outside of all of those desires, I still really like how MoM games play and as tessl mentioned already. If MoM plays the same way this year that it played last year, I will be happy.Last edited by My993C2; 02-26-2016, 02:28 PM.Comment

Re: Manage Only Mode Thread
Well....Woodweaver mentioned last year that he would like to adopt the red-headed step child that is M.o.M.
(but trust me....I thank SCEA it's still there)
...and try and make some changes.
But I know his plate is always full, so I can understand if nothing was touched.
It seems like so much was done to the game from the streams...that I really think it's unlikely anything was done.
Just the reality of things.
Still hoping though!

Re: Manage Only Mode Thread
Ive been playing this mode since the game became a game. I enjoy the management and the fact I can try and get a team to win without being good on the sticks.MLB The Show 15 was almost perfect for MOM. I wish however they would put the pith type and speed back into the mode. Until last year we could see this. Now the only way to see how fast or what pitch was thrown is to have an out of town scoreboard in the background that shows this info. Other than that I thought the mode was about as good as you can get for MOM players. It would be nice to see the computer attempt a pickoff move also. I tell you something else, it is amazing the support this game gets. Other than maybe NBA 2K16 this is hands down the best sports game out there. The Devs listen to us, respond to us and try to implement as much as they can into the game.Comment
