Nothing is makes spring training longer than using it to sort out your team while the cpu is going through it idiotically.. It's only been the same thing since ps2 so I wonder when can we expect a change. Next year?

Spring Training 16 - PS4
Its the most significant preseason in all sports, but for this series it's always been the very most neglected preseason mode out of any sports game. Has there been any changes to the format at least? Or any change in management AI? Have some additional ballparks at least been added?

I've stopped thread checking for about 15 months, until lately. So I needed a refresh of my memory on some things.Red LegendComment

Re: Spring Training 16 - PS4
Well since they didn't mention it in the Franchise stream its pretty safe to assume that it's the same as last years. We all know it could be better, but at this point there is no need make a list of what we would like to see added.Comment

Re: Spring Training 16 - PS4
I think saying that spring training is the "most significant preseason in all sports", could turn into a real debate around here. I for one don't think it's any more important then any other preseason out there.
I think the reason it doesn't get a lot of attention though is just because a lot of people don't bother with it.Comment

Re: Spring Training 16 - PS4
I don't want to take the thread too far off topic, but I agree with Cusefan in that it's no slam dunk that spring training is the most significant of preseason sports. IMO the NFL holds that claim. If SDS were to make some big tweaks, like add non-roster invitees, add intrasquad games & sprinkle in the odd game vs fictitious generic college teams, among other ideas floating around, SDS could really open franchise up & add some spice to ST.T-BONE.

I love spring training and would love a ton of advancements to come to it, but I understand that I'm in the minority. Honestly, I'm just happy it's still there.Comment

Re: Spring Training 16 - PS4
I play all ST games. I enjoy it. Don't care if I win or lose and get to hit/pitch with my young players who won't be on actual roster. Also I use Dynamic difficulty and use ST to set my level for Reg season.Comment

Re: Spring Training 16 - PS4
I used to play spring training games, but I haven't the last few years. 162 games plus playoffs are hard enough to get through without adding 30 extra games on top of that.Comment

Re: Spring Training 16 - PS4
This might surprise some people but I play all spring training games as a way of finding the right difficulty, sliders, and controls. Once I'm finished with ST the base game has a patch or two and a roster update so I always start my regular season a month or two behind. I never skip a game and I always finish 162 regular season games. By the time I'm finished a whole season after the playoffs another TS game is coming out. Last November I finished my last game of MLB TS 13 and lost in the ALC's! This will be my first baseball game since last gen and I can't wait to play my ST games and play around with new camera angles and controls. I like a fair challenge.Comment

For people who would rather not use quick counts, ST is perfect for QC. Then regular season, back to the grind, working counts, & occasionally first pitch swinging.T-BONE.

Re: Spring Training 16 - PS4
I played about 25 spring training games in 15--just to mess around with sliders and difficulty. Living in AZ, though, I wish they made a stadium that looked like one of the many fantastic stadiums here.

Re: Spring Training 16 - PS4
I have never played an actual spring training game in recent years. But I do utilize it. I don't put any of my starters in the lineups and only have my prospects/other minor leaguers play. I know my starters can play, I want to see how my prospects do against major league pitching. Some do very well and others do very poorly. I use this to determine how much longer they need in the minors or possibly break camp.Comment

Re: Spring Training 16 - PS4
This is exactly what I do. I'll play 4-5 ST games to get a feel for my minor leaguers using QCs then set my 25 man (along with the rest of the MLB's) then get to the reg season.Comment
