Re: Spring Training 16 - PS4
SCEA would have to get the license for each individual ST ballpark. The MiLB ballparks are not under the same umbrella of stadium licenses that are included with the MLB license. Not impossible but probably not anytime soon.Comment

Re: Spring Training 16 - PS4
To pick up a conversation from another thread that was prematurely closed in mid conversation on a totally different ST subject.
When playing a ST game I only have 25 players but some are saying I have 40 what am I missing here?? I WANT to play some AA players but I have to call them up and lose options and so forth.Comment

There should be an abundance of ties in the Show ST mode also. So far IRL ST there have already been well over twenty ties.T-BONE.

Re: Spring Training 16 - PS4
I read all of the opinions, the glaring fact that remains to me is this topic has been dormant since we played this game on PS2 (aside from minor features of it taken out). I think by now, just out of pride of representing MLB they should make it a more playable and welcoming mode. Instead of the 30 exhibition games approach that has been taken since 2006..
No other sports franchises have trouble lending a few resources to a deep and often creative preseason mode. I know the resources here are much more different, but hopefully next season they will take a step toward it. It's inconsequential for me this year, since I can't buy the game without the zone-analog batting, even though they have done a pretty decent job overall this year.
On a more selfish note, there are a significant enough number who engage in spring training and an unknown number who would/could but the mode doesn't offer what it should and isn't welcoming enough. Declaring that no-one cares about spring training enough for the issue to matter is bogus, because if it were made useful as it could be none of us know how many would actually come to enjoy it even if they think nothing of it right now.
edit- One thing I don't want, just to get this out the way, is anything about a player's rating/ability/progression to take effect due to spring training, aside from injuries. Most franchises are good about this anyway to prevent franchise decisions being motivated due to preseason. Those aren't the Spring Training expansions that I'm looking for in any way. Just the authenticity of the format would be a good enough start. Inherently your club will have positions open for battle, etc so we don't need anything gimmicky or mini game-ish. I'm looking for a more improved Spring Training format (scheduling/personnel), and atmospheric improvements. The only thing mandatory I hold is much improved handling of manager AI. If they touch nothing but that I'll be set for life with the mode.
Well, remember this board makes up maybe 3% of people who buy this game, and it would seem even 20% of that 3% care about spring training. Common consumers could give a rats *** about it.
Say they improve it to a degree, is there really enough interest to take it to that next level when hardly anyone cares?
we dont know how successful it would be youre right but theres a pretty good indicator it would not be significant, so overall just let it be, use it to find your groove with difficulty and camera angles and accept the fact it will barely change.Comment

Re: Spring Training 16 - PS4
You have to add players to your 40-man until is says 40.
I'll look for the Roster - I thought it was automatically filled after a draft.Comment

Re: Spring Training 16 - PS4
This question is a little off of what was previously discussed in the above thread but since it still has to do with Spring training I thought I'd access your alls wisdom.
How does carrying over a franchise affect ST? If I've simmed 2015 and am in my 2016 season at ST - will MLB 2016 start my ST over since it's a new schedule or will it simply pick up the new ST schedule starting at the date I left off? I didn't carry over a franchise last year so am unsure how the new game will see ST.Comment

With MLB 16 fast approaching, so are the beginnings of many franchises. With that comes many aspects of management, one of them being spring training. For those who dive into it and actually play it can be a fun time to sort out roster and position battles, or get a look at a couple of emerging prospects. Im curious to hear from anyone who plays ST and how they manage everything. Example- how do you deter your "A" and "B" lineups? How do you determine how many innings/ at bats a player gets throughout ST? How do you handle the pitchers and their workload- do you try to mirror real life? Love to hear from anyone. For me i usually have my known starters play in my "A" lineup and play them mostly home games early on until the end of ST where they ramp up to about every day. I try and mirror real life in terms of handling playing time and getting pitchers their innings.
So excited for MLB 16!!Comment

Re: Spring Training 16 - PS4
I think saying that spring training is the "most significant preseason in all sports", could turn into a real debate around here. I for one don't think it's any more important then any other preseason out there.
I think the reason it doesn't get a lot of attention though is just because a lot of people don't bother with it.
I dont know about that, its possible that even if they beefed up ST in MLBTS that a lot of people might still not play it, as I do think a lot just want to dive into the season as soon as possible since the season is so long. Personally I play my ST'ing games, and would love to see it improved in MLBTS.
As for real life, I would definitely say real hard core sports fans of all the 3 major sport, Basketball, baseball and football, would agree that Spring Training is the best preseason out of all the sports, where as I love the other sports, but I could careless about football preseason, and while I do watch the NBA preseason, there is nothing like Spring Training. I enjoy ST'ing almost as much as I do the regular season. My 3 favorite words are Pitchers and Catchers report, and Im sure there are probably several hard core fans that feel the same way.Everyone who exalts themselves will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted- Luke14-11

Re: Spring Training 16 - PS4
Does anyone know in The Show where it shows the number of players on the 40 man roster? I never know how many there are, and then I lose guys in the Rule 5 draft the next seasonComment

Re: Spring Training 16 - PS4
I guess ST injuries DO carry over - SADLY. Lost my set up guy with 2 games to go and when I go into Regular Season he is on the DL for 2 months :-(
