Re: MLB The Show 16 Video - Battle Royale and Conquest Modes (Gamestop)
I would not bet the farm on it. They have been very good about implementing trophies that can be achieved in various game modes. Even the Card based achievements last year did not require you to play DD as you could earn cards from different game modes or use the stubs you earned to buy packs.Comment

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 16 Video - Battle Royale and Conquest Modes (Gamestop)
My issue is if you want to do the best or be the best this 3 innings nonsense forces you into a playstyle I find undesirable. Even 5 innings would be a world of a difference but 3 innings is so short it's like comparing a 400 lap stockcar race to a drag race. Totally different game and one that I find pretty unappealing.
I know this is all speculation but we got nothing else to do for the next 3 weeks. This is how I think it will be and I am surprised the devs who pretty much always nail things being implemented in terms of thinking of the way its all balanced choose this.
Like I said we know going in so adapt to the mode. You already need to make a big adjustment to adapt to online play. I'd rather be playing 9 inning games, but if the rewards are better in Battle Royale I'll likely play it if the buy in is low. If this is unappealing to people then SDS will know by how popular it is. I'm betting though this will be quite popular as people love to gamble.Comment

I noticed that too, they looked a bit different than the two fonts normally available in DD. I really have been wanting more font options for uniform numbers and names in DD.Comment

as for finding a way to make it a little more challenging fundamentally I get it, no stolen base should ever be given just by tapping L2 once and than not having to concentrate. Even for a hit and run you should always have to hold L2 until the pitcher deliversComment

Exactly, it will help everyone's creations stand out a bit more. Plus, I am looking forward to checking out the new minor league parks mentioned in one of the streams. I need to move my DD team into a new park. hahaComment

Re: MLB The Show 16 Video - Battle Royale and Conquest Modes (Gamestop)
what people here keep failing to understand is if youre a speedster in real life, Rajai Davis, Jarrod Dyson, Billy Hamilton etc... [B]it IS that easy[B] I get it can be seen as "cheap" but thats the way it really is in real life, it angers the other team. That being said I get why users of this game would be annoyed if someone rated lower than 90 in speed is stealing at will (which I know happened last year) however Im sure people here will just throw there hands up when someone like Jarrod Dyson steals twice in an inning, well in real life he would do that too...

If not then I think the game should be tuned according to what the stats look lik at the top of the leaderboard. Last year the stolen base rate for top players in DD was in the mid to high 80%. In real life the rate is about 75% success rate. If that occurs again it would be very possibly to tune things to get it more into line with realism. There is no reason steals have to be that high. They can tune many aspects from catchers velocity on steal attempts to player speed on steal attempts, the leaderboard tracks many stats and I think it's a great resource which should be used to tune the game. Especially now that the skill levels are Veteran/AS/Hall of Fame. You can tweak each individual skill level to the players of that tier and make the game as realistic as you wish for each skill.Comment

I am more hopeful than others that stealing and bunting will be under control this year.

Re: MLB The Show 16 Video - Battle Royale and Conquest Modes (Gamestop)
Personally, between the wife, our young kids, work, life, etc., I was relieved to hear that these games will only be 3 innings. Probably the biggest reason I didn't get into DD this year was the single game time commitment. I am primarily a franchise player and will get my simulation 9 inning fix there when I have the time, but this will be a great option when time is limited.
If it works well, these could potentially become my go-to secondary modes this year and replace my time in RTTS.Chicago Cubs
Indiana University Hoosiers
Indianapolis Colts
Chicago Blackhawks
Indiana PacersComment
