Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

Just a quick update. The Blue Jays have just taken the first of two against the Tigers. They are widening the gap between them for the last wild card spot. However, this has come with a price. After losing Blackmon for 1-2 months earlier in the month, the Jays lost Michael Saunders for 1-2 months with a torn finger ligament after sliding into third base.

Saunders already missed a month and a half with a broken forearm and now will miss another significant portion of time. He was batting .278 with 15 HR in limited time this year and was though to be an extension candidate. However, with the 2 big injuries this year, and young guys like Smith Jr. and Alford coming up, this seems unlikely. Saunders has likely played his last game as a Blue Jay. If he only misses a month he could be back for a playoff series if the Jays get far enough. The Jay's will likely look to the FA market this winter. If Smith Jr. or Alford impress in September they also could be in the running for a spot next year.

As for this year, the Jay's have called up OF Dwight Smith Jr. It was between him and Ike Davis for the final roster spot, but Smith Jr. won out due to a recent hot streak in AAA. He is batting .246 with 8 HR and good base running skills. There is only 4 days left to September so this just sped up his likely call up 4 days. Kevin Pillar will move back to the starting CF role with Hamilton playing everyday in LF. The Hamilton trade is starting to look like a blessing with the injuries to the OF. Smith Jr. will likely get a start next game against Detroit against a Right hander sending Pillar back to the bench for the series finale. Pillar will likely get back into the lineup for the start of the Cleveland series.

    Stay Tuned!

Wellington Castillo goes deep 3 times, Cards lose 10-3

Wellington Castillo had himself a day hitting 3 homeruns and driving in 6 runs as the Diamondbacks beat the Cardinals 10-3 in Busch Stadium. Jaime Garcia gave up a lead off triple and things were downhill from there. Garcia, who is 0-5 with a 6.02 ERA, never got on solid footing. He somehow managed to whiff 6 in his 6 innings, but he also gave up 7 earned runs on 15 hits. The lone bright spot was that Lance Lynn pitched a scoreless 7th striking out 1 and getting 3 up and 3 down.

Matt Holliday extended his hitting streak to 9 games with a 2-3 performance at the plate, and he drove in his 23 run on the year. Matt Carpenter was 1-3 with a walk and a solo homerun in the 6th, his 9th of the season.

The Cardinals still lead the Central by 3 games over the Cubs, with a series looming with Chicago starting on Monday.

I have an Astros Carry-Over Franchise that I started on MLB 14. I have yet to start it on 16 because I'm concerned about the issues with doing so.

Can anyone who has continued a Franchise from 15 tell me what I'm facing? I think it's just Morale at this point but I'm not sure.

          Thanks!

The only one I noticed was the morale issues in my Marlins carryover (from MLB14).

I'm not having any other problems with it.

Well after an 8-2 start and 7 game winning streak, the Nationals rolled into Citizens Bank Park and have taken the first 2 games of the series from the Phillies. Lost 2-1 and 5-0. Last game Max Scherzer pitched a complete game 5 hit shutout. Game 3 won't be any easier facing Strasburg. Phillies now 8-4 on the season.

Bullpen blows it, Cards lose 5-4

The Cardinals had a 4-3 lead heading to the 8th, but Jordan Walden allowed back to back doubles with one out to tie the game at 4-4. Lance Lynn proceeded to start the 9th by allowing A.J. Pollock to hit his 5th homer of the year and put the Diamondbacks up 5-4, which is where the game finished. Starter Carlos Martinez didn't have his best stuff, allowing 4 walks, 6 hits, and 3 runs, but he pitched out of big jams to give himself the opportunity to win his 4th of the year.

Both Matt Holliday and Matt Carpenter went 2 for 4 in the game and each drove in a run. Nothing else really to talk about other than Right Field continues to be a sore spot for the Cardinals as Alex Rios continues to hit poorly (.150) and his fielding has been suspect at best. At this rate, Stephen Piscotty cannot return soon enough.

The Cardinals will welcome in the 2nd place Chicago Cubs for a 3 games series at Busch. The Cubs trail by 3 games.

Cardinals snap losing streak by beating the Cubs 5-4

The Cardinals losing streak ended at 2 as they beat the Cubs in from of a sold out crowd at Busch. Adam Wainwright was masterful allowing 2 runs over 7 innings, walking none and striking out 6. Wainwright improves his record to 4-3 on the year. Siegrist struggled as he gave up a 2 run bomb to Schwarber in the 9th making the game 5-4. Rosenthal, who wasn't going to be used tonight, came in to get the final two outs of the game by striking out Victorino and Addison Russell.

Matt Holliday is once again the bright spot of the offense going 2 for 4 with a double and extending his hitting streak to 11 games. The other bright spot was when the Cardinals were down 2-1 in the 7th, Reuben Tejada who started for Wong, unleashed a 2 out triple down the RF line scoring 3, one unearned, to give the Cardinals a 4-2 lead. Jeremy Hazelbaker would follow that up with a solid single up the middle driving in Tejada as he pinch hit for Wainwright.

Rios and Moss were once again no where to be found in this game and Rios allowed a runner to get to 2nd on a simple single as he again misplayed a ball in right.

The Cardinals and Cubs meet again tomorrow with Jake Arrietta facing off against Michael Wacha.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

Great pitching dominates, Cards beat Cubs 3-0

Michael Wacha was stellar in his performance although he only went 6 2/3 innings. Wacha managed to strikeout 7 while allowing 6 hits. The 6th hit in the 7th that brought Heyward to the plate as the tying run, moved Wacha off the mound and into the dugout. Tyler Lyons came in and proceeded to get Heyward to groundout harmlessly to Wong to end the inning. Walden pitched a perfect 8th and Rosenthal got his 17th save of the year by closing this one out.

Randal Grichuk had him a day going 2-3 with a homerun, 2 RBI, and a walk. Grichuk was also part of a spectacular play in the field when he robbed Anthony Rizzo of a homerun in the 1st. Brandon Moss showed up today going 2-4. Matt Holliday took the day off and look to expand his 11 game hitting streak tomorrow.

Cards will put Mike Leake on the mound to face Jon Lester as the Cardinals look for the sweep and to push their lead to 6 games in the Central.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

In Mid June the Houston Astros sit at 41-25 3 games ahead of the second place Mariners. Valbuena just went down with a Fractured Wrist and is expected to miss upto 2 months and was placed on the 15 Day DL, Colin Moran was called up and so far is struggling at the MLB level.

A.J. Reed is very close to being ready to be called up but for the time being Tyler White is holding down 1st Base and has started to pick it up after his very slow start.

Lance McCullers has had a great season and is currently 2nd in Cy Young voting. He is sporting a 5-3 record with a 2.52 ERA and 1.08 WHIP.

Dallas Keuchel has gotten back to where he was last season after a very slow start and now sits at 8-5. He has a 1.92 ERA and 1.05 WHIP and is having a great year all around, he is currently 3rd in Cy Young voting.

Evan Gattis is among the leaders in the AL for home runs with 17 and is second in Gold Glove voting for Left Field and 2nd in voting for Silver Slugger as a DH.

I had to adjust Altuve's rating a bit to get him to play more like he has this season but he is currently batting .268 with 5 home runs and 23 RBI's. He did have his average up around .300 but has been slumping as of late.

Carlos Correa after a slow start is living up to all of the hype and much much more. Batting .271 with 13 home runs and 31 RBI's. His numbers are slightly down as of right now but he is coming off of a slump and is back to having a hot bat.

Carlos Gomez is doing outstanding batting out of the 2 hole he is hitting .299 with 9 home runs and 35 RBI's.

Jason Castro has had a breakout year and is batting .295 with 5 home runs and 18 RBI's. He is currently sitting at the bottom of the lineup just because he doesnt have enough power to hit in the 4-5-6, so he is currently batting 9th. I may look to see whats out there at the trade deadline but since we are contending I will likely hold onto him.

Marwin Gonzalez is also having an outstanding year and is batting .272 with 7 home runs and 18 RBI's. He is a prime candidate to be sold at the deadline as I have A.J. Reed coming up and he really doesnt have a place on the ball club. Though I do like having him to keep Altuve happy and he is a good utility player.

Doug Fister is having a great season (Morale has taken him fomr an 84 to a 87) with a 2.33 ERA and 1.18 WHIP and is currently 7-0.

As it is looking right now here are the All-Stars I expect to have:
Keuchel (Fister and McCullers are up there as well)
                      Altuve
                      Correa
                      Gomez

All and all its been a great year so far. Pitching is doing great compared to real life.

In the draft I was able to pickup:
85 Potential Reliever (Bullpen is kind of weak)
                      87 Potential Starter (BPA)
                      85 Potential Starter (BPA)

I will likely look to package one of those starters for a catcher prospect.

I had a few more pickups in the draft but none above a 80 potential.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

I'm at the AS break in my Dodgers franchise and am having an absolute blast.

I'm 56-35, in a very tight race with the Giants for first place in the division, though the rest of the division is more than 10 games behind the lead.

As with the first month, I'm riding stellar pitching all the way. Our team ERA of 2.43 is tops in the league, just above the Mets. Our team BA of .235 is near the bottom of the league, which has meant a LOT of 1-run games.

At the big league level, my two studs pitching and hitting are, predictably, Kershaw and Gonzales.

Kershaw is 11-4 with 153K and a 1.38 ERA. Kazmir, Ryu, and Maeda all have sub-3.0 ERAs as well. While I don't anticipate that lasting, my rotation has spent the entire first half on fire.

A-Gon is hitting .327 with 14 HR and 68 RBI--the "butter and egg man," as Scully puts it. He's hit #4 all season long and has played all but 5 games so far. Total rock.

Other notables on offense include Puig, who is hitting just .262 but who has 15 HR and 50 RBI, and Seager, who is hitting .273 with 11 HR and 36 RBI, to go with pretty solid defense.

I'm finding Kike Hernandez to be a huge bonus for his versatility. He's hitting about .250 but has 9 HR, 26 RBI, and can play almost anywhere on the field with no noticeable dropoff in defensive play.

At the MILB level, I have some really promising standouts.

Julio Urias is 10-4 with a 2.74 ERA in AA. Zach Lee is 5-6 with a 3.35 ERA, also at AAA.

For my hitters, all at AA, I'm getting great production out of Micah Johnson (2B), Trayce Thompson (RF), and Austin Barnes (C). Johnson is hitting .309 with 10 HR and 49 RBI in the 2 hole; Thompson is hitting .286 with 12 HR and 40 RBI in the 3 hole; Barnes is hitting .279 with 4 HR and 39 RBI and has climbed from the 7 hole to the 4 hole.

It's looking like All 3 of those hitters will see time with the parent club next season.

My entire pitching rotation is on multi-year deals, so I don't see Urias or Lee pushing for a spot in the rotation for 2 years. I could see Urias forcing his way in at 21 (he's 19 now) and I could see Lee perhaps breaking in as a long man @ 25 or as a #5 guy @ 25 (he's 24 now).

I did all my own scouting and drafting, no cheating, and of my 7 picks, I think I got 3 solid specs. My #1 pick was a CP w/ B POT and a 70 OVR rating. At 21, he'll probably spend 1-2 years in the minors if he progresses well. At #2, I got a RP C POT 69 OVR who is just 19 and has some time to grow. I also got a 71 OVR C POT RF with big time power potential who switch hits and is just 18 with my #3 pick.

My other picks are projects...we'll see how the top guys pan out.

This year's iteration is easily the best sports game I've played.

Using OSFM rosters and Armor & Sword & Marino's sliders with Pitching on HoF. Im playing 1 game per series with a different pitcher each time till i go through the rotation.

Season isnt off to a great start for the defending champs. We sit at 11-12 after the first month of the season. 4th place in the division 3.5 games behind the twins for 1st place.

Offense is 27th in runs. Scoring just 3.5 per game thanks in part to having just 14 home runs. Lowest in the Majors. Our 2-3-4(Gordon, Hosmer, Morales) hitters are playing pretty well hitting .316/.380/.480. Led by Hosmer hitting .340/.386/.511. Alcides Escobar has been by far the most disappointing player so far. Started the year in the leadoff spot but got off to a terrible start and hasnt gotten much better since being moved down to 8. He is hitting .183/.247/.220. Jarrod Dyson started the year on the DL. Came back on the 19th and had 3 hits in 25 at bats before breaking his Ankle on the 26th.

Pitching has been pretty good so far (aside from 2-3 guys). Surprisingly Chris Young has been the best starter so far. He is 3-1 with a 2.70 ERA despite a 4.87 FIP. Ian Kennedy is next at 3-1 with a 2.97 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 33 1/3 innings. On the other end Ventura and Volquez have been awful. they are 1-4 with a 5.33 ERA combined. Ventura is especially bad with a 6.60 FIP, 6.94 BB/9 and a 2.31 HR/9. Bullpen is pretty much doing what is done the last few years. Hochevar has a 1.10 ERA in 16 1/3 innings with an 11.02 K/9. Herrera has a 2.08 ERA in 13 innings with a 10.38 K/9. And Wade Davis has 6 saves in 7 tries with a 12.79 ERA. Has allowed just 2 hits and walk in 6 1/3 innings.

At AAA Omaha Jonathan Dziedzic is 3-0 with a 0.72 ERA and a 1.00 WHIP in 25 innings. And Clint Barmes is on the juice hitting .347/.449/.467 in 75 at bats. At AA NW Arkansas Eric Skoglund is 2-1 with a 2.13 ERA in 25 1/3 innings with 1.18 WHIP. Christian Binford is 3-1 with a 2.65 ERA and 1.09 WHIP in 34 innings. Our top pitching prospect Kyle Zimmer is 1-2 with a 2.67 ERA in 30 1/3 innings. If he continues to pitch well there for the next 4 or 5 starts we will move him up to AAA to get him ready for a call to the majors later in the season. Hunter Dozier is hitting .319/.380/.444 in 72 at bats. Our top prospect Raul Mondesi is hitting .271/.370/.429 in 70 at bats. Good to see him finally hit a bit with all his potential at just 20 years old.

                          Standings
                          Spoiler

Adrian Gonzalez and Prince Fielder leads their leagues in AVG at .398 and .390. Lucas Duda and Machado/Cabrera/Ortiz lead their leagues in HR at 9. Colin McHugh and Max Scherzer lead the leagues in ERA at 0.31 and 0.70. Scherzer and Sanchez lead in pitching WAR at 1.56 and 1.26. Cards can't sweep Cubs..lose 6-4

Cardinals couldn't sweep the Cubs as they lose 6-4. Mike Leake was serviceable in the game pitching 6 innings and allowing 3 runs. However, the bullpen was far from its normal self as struggling Seth Maness allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in just one inning. Tyler Lyons also gave up a run in his inning worked.

Matt Holliday continues to be a force at the plate, as he went 3-4 with an RBI and a walk. Hazelbaker went 2-5 as the only other multiple hit player in the game.

The Cardinals will look to start a new winning streak as they head to Washington for a weekend 4 game series against the Nationals. Jaime Garcia will start game one against Gio Gonzalez.

Cards lose opener to Nationals 3-2

The Cardinals had their chances, much like the season, and once again failed to drive in runs when needed. The Cardinals had 3 runners thrown out at home plate over the course of the game. They also had a rally in the 8th ended as Brandon Moss came on to pinch hit and watched 3 straight strikes.

Jaime Garcia struggled out of the gate allowing 3 runs in the first two innings, but he settled down to pitch 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 6 hits. He pitched well enough to earn the win, but instead he falls to 0-6 on the season. Tyler Lyons and Jonathan Broxton were serviceable out of the bullpen pitching the final two innings allowing 2 hits and 0 runs.

Matt Holliday again is the talk of the offense as he was 1 for 2 with 2 walks. Randal Grichuk found life in his bat as he launched a 2 run homer in the 8th, that made the game 3-2. However, disappointment set in again for the Cards as Hazelbaker and Rios continued to struggle going a combined 0 for 8 with 3 strikeouts.

Cardinals will look to end the losing streak tomorrow as they will put Carlos Martinez up against Tanner Roark.

Hello all. If I were to stream my franchise games would anyone show any interest in watching it? I want to add some authenticity to my franchise.
