Star Pitcher Among the Big Extensions
The Marlins were able to get Boeve on a long term deal, signing the ace to a 6 yr/$160 M contract to avoid arbitration.
Boeve's agent commented that he was glad that the Marlins organization recognized the value his client brought to the franchise and city. Boeve is overjoyed with the contract right now and happy to have it behind him so he can focus on getting better at pitching. That's a scary thought.
Boeve wasn't the only high profile signing during the exclusive period.
The Yankees extended RF Giancarlo Stanton for 2 years at $40 M total.
The Dodgers locked up RF Gregory Polanco for 7 years at a $217 M total.
The Dodgers also locked up SP Robert Stephenson for 7 years at $205 M.
Marlins Non-tendered:
RP Leonel Campos (given unconditional release)
RP Bruce Rondon (still arbitration eligible)
RP Matt Stites (given unconditional release)
SP Dillon Gee (became free agent)
Marlins Rejected Tenders:
CL Dominic Leone (opted for free agency, non-qualified)
