The Marlins are continuing their hot romp through April as the offense in particular is firing on all cylinders.

Stan Brito has to be making the Marlins reconsider their stance on trading him. He's just raked the ball all over the yard since being placed on the trade block officially. He's not showing any of the contact problems he's had in his first two seasons at all. On top of the improved average, 13 of his 21 hits have gone for extra bases (7 HR, 6 2B).

Damian Boeve is of course doing his thing, currently 4-0 with a 1.07 ERA with 48 Ks in 33 innings. Rookie closer Ken Yaeger is having an "interesting" go of things so far, but he has 9 saves already and is posting a decent 3.27 ERA to go with them. 33-year-old rookie Boone Hall is doing fine in the early going. He's yet to allow a run in 7 2/3 innings of work.

One of the few warts on this early start is Javier Baez, which is a serious concern considering his contract especially. Hopefully, it's just a slow start and not a sign of things to come. He's batting .250, but more concerning is the lack of any home runs.

I've been jumping around a lot myself. I felt I needed to up the difficulty a bit and its been a bit of an adjustment! I already pitch on HOF, but I just recently bumped my hitting up to HOF from All Star. Team Batting average is way down, runs are down, but so far I have been hitting a decent amount of HR.

I haven't been jumping around, just haven't been playing video games.

My first one...please be gentle. I'll try to do more of these as I progress. Also..this is one that I have been doing since MLB 14 (when 15 allowed save transfers...so understand that I'm pretty far into this)

2079 Season. St. Louis Cardinals.

After sweeping the Astros in the 2078 World Series, the Cardinals are looking to capture another world title.

Here's the Starting Lineup
vs RHP/LHP
CF Dave White R/R- 6'0 186 31yo-Speedster and exceptional defensive OF.

SS Eric Gesualdo-R/R-6'1 184 28yo-Another speeder and defender with very little power. Will also hit for a high average.

RF Reed Doherty-R/R 6'3 221 28 yo-After coming off a broken leg last year only 18 games into the season (where he was hitting .348 4HR and 12 RBI), Reed is hoping to rebound. Has MVP type talent.

3B Brad Kruse-L/R 6'3 227 25YO-reigning ROY and MVP (.308 29HR 107 RBI in 139 games) who came up in late April due to the injury to Reed Doherty. Excellent power and solid defender. Can play 3B or 1B. Almost zero speed but highly intelligent player.

1B Bobby Richards-R/R 6'5 194lbs 24YO- Front runner for ROY honors this year. Replacing a sure fire HOF who left in free agency.

2B Kevin Snelling-S/R 6'0 201 30YO-Good power and speed. Does strikeout a little bit. Average defender with a really good arm.

C Randall Marion-R/R 6'2 186 27 YO-The regular starting catcher, Jordan Torres, will miss the first few weeks of the regular season after breaking his forearm early in spring training. In his brief stints in St. Louis, all Randall has done is hit (.376 average in 101 AB). Average defender and average arm. Is probably no more than a quality offensive focused backup catcher.

LF Kaylen Roberts-R/R 6'3 193 33YO-Whatever position you need played, Kaylen can play it and do it very well. Has a cannon of an arm and very solid glove. Has average power and a good batting eye. Decent speed but doesn't really steal a whole lot.

DL
C-Jordan Torres-S/R 5'11 190 30YO-Mainly has been used as the starting catcher vs RHP. Has good power (hit 31 HR in '73) but doesn't hit for a high average. Very good defensive catcher but doesn't have the strongest arm.

Bench
IF-Jermaine Beal-R/R 6'1 208 28 YO-crushes LHP and has exceptional speed. Average fielder with average arm. Can play all IF positions.

OF-Marshall Lovett-R/R 6'3 200 26YO-Good hitter and defender. Excellent speed and defender. Usually brought in late into games to pinch run and for defensive replacements. A little bit of power

UT-Ryan Costello-S/R 6'0 190 26 YO-Solid contact hitter and defender. Utility guy. Has excellent potential to eventually to play the Kaylen Roberts role when Roberts retires. Very little power

IF-Rickey Flood (see prospects section)

UT-Vladimir Pena-S/R 6'1 185 26 YO-Is the DH in AL ballparks. Can play all over the field. Bazooka of an arm and very good speed. Has good power but his RHP better than LHP. Good fielder


SP
R-Sean Murillo- 6'3 227 31 year old ace. The ace of the staff, although the last couple years have been subpar for him. Strikeout pitcher with a mid 90s fastball and 93mph 2 seemer. Slider is also a plus pitch.

R-Alfonso Rubio-6'3 185 32 years old. Probably would be the #1 starter on any other team. Cutter and slider are his out pitches but will keep you honest with his changeup. Will put people on base but also gets a lot of double plays.

L-Mitchel Baron-6'8 270 27 years old. Will not overpower you. Fastball sits at about 91-92 but has good changeup. Exceptional hitter.

R-Sammy Nunez-6'3 200 26 years old. His first full year in the majors last year had mixed results. (9-11 with 3.81 ERA and 1.29 WHIP. Walked 60 and fanned 142 in 203 IP) Innings eater with a 2 seemer that will break a lot of bats. Gets hurt when he leaves the ball up.

L-Daniel Nunez-5'11 212lbs 25 year old rookie. Excellent command with good offspeed stuff.

RP
L-Jared Peoples- 6'0 208 31 years old. Was a starter last year but with the callup of Daniel Nunez, he's being moved to a long man. Has had injury issues the last few years but when healthy a very solid #4 starter.

R-Jack Grant-6'8 245 29 years old. Fireballer. Had a rough regular season last year (4.71 ERA and 1.24 WHIP) but was electric in the playoffs

R-Nick Castle-6'5 191 29 years old. Another hard thrower with a nasty slider.

L-Todd Crump-6'4 194 27 years old. Mainly used as a lefty specialist but can also get out RH. With his sinker, will get a ton of groundball outs.

R-Garrett Chavez-6'4 209 26 years old. Rookie will finally get his chance in the bullpen. Converted starter (and former 1st round pick). Mid 90's fastball with good changeup...his only fault is command.

R-Edgar Gomez-5'10 190 26 years old. Coming off a down year (for him. Previous two season saw him with a 2.16 and 1.60 ERA with .89 and .76 WHIP but 2079 saw him with a 3.78 ERA and 1.18 WHIP) the set up man will try to get back on track. Gets a ton of strikeouts despite not having an overpowering fastball (92-94) but his sweeping curveball is filthy.

L-Cal Hudson-5'10 166 27 years old. After the former closer left in free agency, Cards are going to give it to their closer in waiting for the past few years. But he will have a short rope because his appearances in the majors the last few years have not been dominant, mainly due to control issues.

Top Prospects
R-Sp-Raul Osuna-6'1 213 24yo-Good hard fastball with nasty slider. Will start season at AAA Memphis

R-Sp-Juan Ramirez-6'2 185 23Yo- A top 50 prospect, has a nice fastball/change combination with a ton of movement on his slider. Will start season at AAA Memphis

SS-Rickey Flood-R/R 6'3 205 25YO-Hits LHP very well with decent power. Not the greatest fielder and doesn't have exceptional speed, but he can hit. Also has great eye at the plate and has knack for getting the big hit. Will start year in St. Louis as a utility player (can also play 2B and 3B)

For the most part I am happy with my stats. Correa just wont cool off so I dont know im not restarting 55 games in, so I will just hope he cools off. Marisnick is also annoying but he is cooling off finally. I do bunt with these guys if I have a lead or the other team does to try to lower that average.

Starting Pitcher stats I am still trying to get down, they are getting better now.

The way I decided to do the draft this first season was to create the real prospects then draft prospects for next year this way I always have rookies coming into the league.

Owen Root is VERY interesting his potential is 73 but his overall is already a 74. He has elite speed (98). Very good contact vs RHP (81) Good fielding (81, 71 Reaction). I could see him making the major league team next year.

We are currently 38-17. After the hot start in April, we played just over .500 in May.

The Cardinals came out of the gate for the 2nd half of the season flat as could be, as they dropped a decision to the Marlins 4-0. Facing Jacob Cosart the Cardinals only managed 5 hits, all of them singles, and never advanced a runner to 2nd base until the 9th inning thanks to back to back hits by Carpenter and Piscotty.

Carlos Martinez wasn't that bad, allowing 3 runs on 8 hits and striking out 8 over 7 innings of work. Seung Oh wasn't particularly effective out of the pen allowing 1 run on 3 hits in an inning of work. Kevin Siegrist pitched the top half of the 9th getting 3 straight strikeouts.

The Cardinals will look to bounce back in game 2 of the series with Wainwright toeing the rubber for his first start in the 2nd half of the season.

I only play 1 gm/series and when I was out of contention late in the season I simmed. I didn't think I would ever be a "simmer" but it's not impacting my enjoyment negatively at all.

I tried simming a bit with the Marlins and they did better in sim than "live" LOL.

Except for Boeve getting his first loss in a sim game. Go figure, the guy who would break a 12-game win streak...would be the best pitcher on the team...and maybe in the league. Baseball.

But I think I'll keep playing every game, though I could see why people do it.

Should have added this in my last update I guess but I just noticed this and its important. While the Astros are 38-19 (I am on a 2 game losing streak ATM against Oakland) the Rangers are quietly in 2nd with a 31-25 record. They are 6.5 games back and that may seem like a decent cushion but we have a 4 game series with them in Dallas. If we cant take game 3 against Oakland and the Rangers come in hot this could be trouble.

My Astros have basically turned into somewhat the real Astros at times. The only way I have scored in the past 2 games (Other than an Altuve near homer) has been solo shot home runs. Gotta get the bats and pitching going again before we face the Rangers.

Ranger Update

Well July has come and gone and the Teas rangers continue their stellar season as they finish the month with a 61-43 record. The division is tight however as every team other than Oakland finds themselves within 4 games of the lead.

I made 2 trade deadline moves that will hopefully strengthen my bullpen as i added Johnathan Pappelbon and Travis Wood. In return i had to art ways with Brandon Morrow ( A Mistake to sign him as a free agent anyways, he is terrible) and Brian Holliday. Holliday wasnt seeing any time anyways as arlos Martinez was signed in the offseason to solidify the catching.

Other news includes

1Adam Lind hitting over 300 with 19 Hrs and 65 rbis. (great FA signing)
2.Adrian Beltre showing age finally (hitting 265 with 7 hrs) But the Beltre watch is on as he is only 8 hits from 3000
3.2 Rookie pitchers throwng well Faulkner and Ethan Karros ( a first round sighing this past offseason)
4. Hamels 3rd in ERA and Yu 4th. Hamels is also 10-0 .

Maybe this is the year (Keeping fingers crossed)

Got our first win after the All Star break with a walk off win on back to back walks. A.J. Ramos of the Marlins walked Carpenter with bases loaded in a 4-3 ball game to tie the game and then proceeded to walk Stephen Piscotty on four pitches to walk in the winning run!

The win came at a price as I lost Adam Wainwright for 1-2 months with a fractured wrist. Called up Tim Cooney to replace him at the moment, but I am scouring the trade market seeing what is available and at what cost.

Another small update on my Rockies franchise. I'm midway through June. My success in this month has put me 3 games ahead in the division over the Dodgers.

Mark Reynolds has been struggling at the plate (not surprising, his ratings are declining in a hurry). I needed another 1B, so I decided to go ahead and make a move.

I traded Sam Howard (a 24 year old SP with C potential) to the Royals for their AAA, 28-year old 1B Jose Martinez. 28 years old and he's never played at the major league level.

I decided to give him a shot, and in his first game for me, he goes 2-4 with 2 RBIs on a triple that helped seal the deal. I'll take that kind of production all day.

Lost the series to the Marlins, as we dropped game 3, 2-1. Both Miami runs were unearned and our bats were terrible. Thought we might have a good day at the plate against a struggling Jose Fernandez when Carpenter lead off the bottom of the first with a solo homer. But unfortunately that was the highlight of the day, as our bats have been quiet since the 2nd half of the season began.

Next up is 4 games against the Padres at home. Hopefully we can find an offense.

As fate would have it, it's a dang good thing I traded for Jose Martinez, because 3 games after getting him Carlos Gonzalez goes down with a pulled hamstring. He'll be out for 3-4 weeks.

Having Martinez allows me to put him in the outfield and bring Reynolds back in.

I lose a heck of a bat, but it won't hurt me as much as it would have without Martinez.
