Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

Digitally bought the game today so I could start up my chise over the weekend..

So 6 hours later here I am, still waiting for the game to install.. Lol looks like I'll be putting off playing the show a couple weeks more, tonight was really the only night I had free.

I can't believe it's taking this long, kinda ruined the night.... Back to rocket league I go.

Probably not ideal with your limited gaming time, but I think the install is quicker with your PS4 in rest mode.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

Almost finished with the 2016 regular season and the Rays have locked up the division. The Blue Jays and Astros have won the two wildcard spots. Alex Cobb is among three pitchers that are battling for the Cy Young award. Looney surprisingly looks like he'll take home a gold glove award at 1st base. I'm going to run into a dilemma in the offseason though since I signed Jaso last offseason to a one year deal since we really didn't have any other good catchers on the roster and I didn't want to trade away a player on the roster for one. I really didn't think he would make a splash or anything like that but he has come through for the club big this year. I don't know if I should try and resign him in the offseason since he's getting older and from the season he has had this year he'll probably be looking for more money.

I realized there is probably no chance that I play all 162, so with the play 1 sim 5 method, I am 9-3 with the Twins. 2-0 as myself and the sim 7-3. If that pct continues I should be a lock for the post season. I've already lost Escobar and Suzuki to the 60 day DL. I'd really like to try to play every game but I just don't have the time. 😢

After responding to the call in Game 5, the Cubs head to New York for the crucial Game 6 matchup against Scott Kazmir and the New York Yankees. Can Jon Lester put his team on his back and force a winner-take-all Game 7?

I could use your opinions: which of these three teams do you think would present the biggest challenge in a season where I play all 162 games? Choices are Cubs, Giants, Mets. I know none of the 3 represent much of a challenge, just wondering which you guys would choose. Thanks.

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

                    June Update:

The Jays have struggled in the month of June. It June 24 and they are currently 37-36, which makes them 9 GB for the division and 2.5 GB of the final wild card spot. This is in large part due to a 8 game losing streak where they managed to score only 17 runs compared to 35 runs against. First lets recap the player movement:

                    - Traded C Josh Thole to Pirates for LF Casey Hughston + SS Adam Frazier.
                    - Signed SP Radhames Liz to a 1yr/500K contract (AAA)
                    - Signed Brian Duensing to a 1yr/670K contract (AAA)
                    - Casey Kotchman claimed off waivers by San Diego
                    - Recalled Drew Hutchinson to MLB to start in place of Aaron Sanchez
                    - SP Aaron Sanchez moved to bullpen
                    - Michael Saunders injured for 1-2 months (DL)
                    - Tyler Colvin Recalled (replacing Saunders)
                    - C Danny Jansen claimed off of release waivers by San Diego
                    - Dalton Pompey out 2-4 weeks (DL)
                    - Currently Donaldson, Pillar out 1-6 days with minor injuries.

As you can see, the biggest news come from the Saunders injury. He was hitting .273 with 13 HR and 22 RBI for the Jays as the starting LF. The trade for Josh Hamilton now comes in handy, as Hamilton will take over as the starting LF. Abraham Almonte (fresh off the suspension) will take over 4th OF duties (2 HR in 5 games played since injury)

                    Rumours:
                    - Toronto was looking for a top of the rotation starter. Rumour has it they have their eye on Andrew Cashner, James Shields, Jake Odorizzi, Gio Gonzalez and Stephen Strasburg, amongst others. The team would look for rotation help after having mixed results from Miguel Gonzalez and sending Aaron Sanchez to the bullpen. The rotation now looks like this: Stroman, Estrada, Gonzalez, Chavez, Hutchinson (Happ, Sanchez in bullpen)

                    - The Jays are looking to acquire another catcher. Russel Martin has batted .253 with 7 HR and 20 RBI and is penciled in as the starter, but the backup role has been very poor. Current backup Tony Sanchez is batting .162 and the depth chart after him reads Quintero/Rene Rivera/Derrick Chung who are all performing poorly. Thole/Jimenez were included in deals. Possible targets for Toronto consist of Wilson Ramos, Jonathan Lucroy, Martin Maldonado, Andrew Susac, Christian Bethancourt and Jordan Pacheco via trade or Gerald Laird via FA. Rumour has it Toronto is considering a deal for Wilson Ramos, which would cost LF Dwight Smith, INF Ryan Goins and RP Aaron Loup.

The Jay's are in a tough spot. If they are close in contention by the All Star break, look for the Jay's to acquire that top of the rotation starter (possibly a rental) and maybe a guy like Wilson Ramos or Jonathan Lucroy.

However, if they continue to struggle and are looking to be slipping out of contention, look for the team to deal expiring sluggers Edwin Encarnacion and Jose Bautista. Both are having very solid seasons and could bring back a haul of future talent for the team. Lesser role players such as Pillar or Colabello could also be targets for contending teams.

Finally, as promised from last update, here is a look at the pitching stats on the year (Record/ERA/WHIP/K's)

                    MLB Pitchers:

Re: MLB 16 Franchise Progress Thread

I was wondering if anyone else had this problem...

I was so excited for my first "carry over" franchise and had put a lot of work into it. However, as I entered the off-season there were about 15-20 players who retired due to injuries.

Among them were Dallas Keuchel and Nomar Mazara.

This totally took me out of the realistic nature I had worked hard to create and ultimately I decided I won't resume this one and will start a new one this year with plans to carry it into MLB 17 The Show.

For those who accelerate through years faster than myself, is this a usual occurrence and should I just deal with it before I am crushed to find out it happens again?

                      P.S.,

if this is not in the right place can you please re-direct me.

I don't know about the number (never counted), but I know I've had/seen some tough retirements.

Lost Andrew Heaney in MLB14 to an ACL. Really sucked at the time.

I haven't hit the offseason in MLB16 yet. If it's that severe, I can see how that would be disconcerting. I'd probably carry on (too far in to just abandon it), but man I'll hate long term injuries even more than I do now!

You won't be able to upload new rosters once you start a game mode.

Thank you for responding. It certainly is frustrating.

Is there some certain of manual injury override? As silly as that sounds.

                                There is.

Go to your User Settings. Then Gameplay. Then Advanced options (under Gameplay).

You should see an "Injuries" entry. Change that to Manual. Back out and save.

After that, you can do to Disabled List. Then Manage Injuries. From there, you can scroll through teams and injure (or magically heal) players at your pleasure.

I think I got all the steps. Don't have the game open so trying to go from memory/visualization

Then when you're done, repeat the steps and set "Injuries" to whatever setting. Back out and save again.
