Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread

Just looking to make a trade to help the Twins rebuild faster (don't control them)

Ross Stripling + Yasiel Puig + Howie Kendrick

Trevor Plouffe + Brain Dozier + Kevin Jepsen

** with the Dodgers platooning Kendrick anywhere this year I think he's just a contract throw in at this point ( correct me if I'm wrong ) making 10mil per year for 2016 + 2017 , Puig would be 1A of the deal because Stripling is no slouch but he fits the criteria where he's a prospect but is as good as its gonna get 4 or 5 in a rotation.

With Dozier the Dodgers get an everyday second basemen in the prime of his career coming off his best season with 2 more years at 6mil after the 2016 campaign. Then there's Plouffe in his contract year that can platoon with Justin Turner at 3B or spot start in the outfield when needed and the deal sweetener is giving them Jepsen (who has no value playing for a last place team) put would do wonders setting up things for Jansen to take care of the 8-9th innings to close the door

*** Thinking of also trading Phil Hughes to the RedSox to cement there playoff run.
Looking at a Hughes for Trey Ball swap ?

*** Ervin Santana to the Pirates for 2 low C prospects. They need a pitcher to fill out the rotation for the playoffs.

      Please lmk what you think.

On our previous discussion regarding Archer v. Kershaw...

On why Kershaw doesn't even make the top 50 in trade value...

"Kershaw’s a different story. He’s expensive too, but that’s not why he missed the cut. Teams would still line up to pay him $30 million a year, as he’s the perfect combination of youth and greatness. However, the Dodgers agreed to put a clause in Kershaw’s contract that makes him virtually impossible to trade; if he is moved during the years covered by his current deal, he then has the right to void the contract and become a free agent at the end of the season. If the Dodgers traded Kershaw now, he’d be a free agent this winter. If they traded him this off-season, he’d be a free agent next winter. Either way, any team trading for Kershaw would be acquiring a rental, and no one can justify paying what it would take to get him for one year of team control. This clause makes Kershaw absurdly valuable to the Dodgers, and far less valuable to anyone else."

Jose should be available. I'd say mid B prospect, preferably pitching.

Did you really necro your own post from 25 pages back to try to prove that Archer is so valuable? Archer is good, but there are a number of more valuable pitchers, and when Kershaw was brought up it was always in a surplus value sense not a trade sense because there is an absolute 0 percent chance he would ever be traded.

            http://www.fangraphs.com/leaders.asp...603,11762,9434

Check out the FIP and WAR. Please try to give a rational explanation of how Archer is the "most valuable" without saying "because he is Chris Archer" There are other pitchers I could have used but this was just a starting point. The only player with a worse WAR or FIP on this list which is 2015 and 2016 so there's no SSS complaints is Matt Harvey, a guy who was coming back from TJ all of last season.

Is there a deal to be made between Atlanta and Pittsburgh involving Teheran and Reese McGuire.

July 20th. Pirates are 1.5 back of the Cubs and 3.5 back of the 2nd wildcard spot. Taillon is on the DL for 4-5 months with a torn labrum, Cole is pitching great, followed by a solid performance from Liriano. The rest are meh. Glasnow has pitched 22 innings for them. Teheran has a 2.82 era in 140 innings. 6.89k/9, 3.23 FIP.

Few pages back someone posted a report from the Branves GM stating that the team would only look to trade him if they were bringing back " a middle of the order bat" with a whole lot of them control(which i don't think the Pirates have) But this could be a start let's see what others think

                Pirates received

                Julio Teheran
Hector Olivera (pure salary dump) A huge disappointment from Cuba but is making a boat load of cash.(6 years and 62.5 mil) Braves would love to get rid of this IMO

                Braves get

                Gregory Polanco
                Ke'Bryan Hayes
Clay Holmes or Yeudy Garcia or Resse McGuire

I'm the Braves gm though, and I'd rather look for power in the draft and free agency instead. I love the idea of polanco, but I don't think they'd move him in the middle of that push.

Re: MLB 16 Trade Discussion Thread

In July and looking to trade Adams/Moss. Adams is batting .245 with an OBP of .294 and slugging .372 with 5 home runs and 23 RBIs in 188 at bats so not doing much. Same goes for Moss, whose line of .234/.303/.458 with 12 home runs and 27 RBIs in 201 at bats is only slightly better. Question is, can I even get anything decent for them or should I just ride out their contracts? Teams that are contending in my franchise and could perhaps take a shot at one of the two are the Twins (wow), White Sox, Astros and maybe Angels? Astros are getting even worse production from their first basemen.

With stats like that I'm not expecting anything great, but even a mid or low C prospect would be nice.

Idk with Josh Harrison able to play outfield the Pirates would be in great position to grab a sure fire number 2 behind Cole and still compete.

Hayes with the rest of the prospects are not gonna help this club for at least 2-3 years maybe even more so what would be the hold up ?!? Wait till your stars are aged to hell and rebuild again ?!?

But let's get back to just writing " x team will never do that " we should rename the thread "MLB 16 trade's (that will never happen) discussion.

100% chance there isn't any situation that sees Polanco and his 7 years/55mil contract going anywhere in a deal that involves taking Olivera.

Polanco just signed an extension for 5 seasons plus 2 option years. That is a total of $61 million over 7 years. If he contributes at a conservative average of 4 WAR per season over that time we are looking at unbelievable surplus value. 4(WAR)x8(value of 1 WAR)x7(years)= 224(WAR value)-61(contract amount). That ends up with $163 million in surplus value. This isn't because we want to say all trades are unrealistic. This is because the trade is so far from fair value wise that it absolutely would not happen.

You guys have a knack for contradicting your selves on here. Pages back the only way Braves was looking to trade Julio for a TOP BAT. What happened to his vaule ? Fell off the face of the map ? His cost control contract isn't good anymore ? He's not a number 2 ?

Then you guys get mad when people post trades after trades looking for help, but instead of helping (what you guys signed up for) you get mad then technically threatened the user that he/she will be ignored and/or passed over. And God forbid if your here longer then the user asking he questions or post more then they do, or you get the whole "well it's your game do as you please"

This used to be a fun way to bring up questions and suggestions but now it's just meh.
