I don't think Swihart to Philly would be such a terrible thing. I understand Alfaro is there and why some would shoot that down, but hear me out..
Swihart has always been a bat-first type of catcher. I can't speak on his defensive skills because I haven't watched him much, so I have no valid opinion. Based off of what others say, there are always better in-house options behind the plate in Red Sox country. So much so that Swihart was playing some AAA outfield just to try to get him acclimated so his bat could be in the lineup.
I'm not sure what his stats were in 2016, forgive me if that was posted beforehand, but if he's hit well then I could see him being plugged into the Phillies outfield. Worst case scenario he keeps the catcher spot warm for Alfaro and then shifts to OF/1B. That way Alfaro isn't rushed, and who knows, the two could have similar potential and Swihart offers an immediate upgrade at the MLB level.
