      LOL. No way, Jose. That package is way too much going to Atlanta. Freeman is not Mike Trout. Teheran is not Chris Sale.

        It's going to be exaggerated obviously. They both have control and are valuable, of course they'd want you to overpay. Now give your package and we can go from there

          Benintendi + Kopech + Swihart + Chavis + assume all moneys

          No need for any more than that. Kopech and Benintendi is fair for Freeman and the rest for Teheran. Certainly not trading a player of Moncada's caliber for a second division All Star and a #3.

            So one stud prospect, a pitcher who has already got caught doing PEDs and broke his pitching hand punching a teammate, an offense first catcher who ha never been an above average hitter and a 45FV player who doesn't really have a position.

            Freeman and Teheran are signed long term, long enough to be there in the upswing of the rebuild so it would need a huge package to get them both together. They got a better package than the one you proposed for Shelby Miller.

            Shelby f'in Miller. And yes I know it was an insane overpay by the Diamondbacks

              Yeah, but Dave Stewart works for Arizona, not Boston. That Shelby Miller deal was ridiculed by everybody and shouldn't be used by anyone for any sort of comparison unless they're really reaching.

              Freeman isn't really all that great. A 3-5 fWAR player is certainly nice to have, but he just looks like a legend compared to the junk surrounding him on that horrid dumpster fire of a Braves team. He's entering his late prime and is still signed for 5 more years at a large sum. Off the top of my head, Freeman might be the 5th or 6th best 1B in the NL, hardly an untouchable.

              Teheran is nothing special and would have a tough adjustment to the AL East after feasting on weak Phillies/Mets/Marlins offenses for basically his entire career. Even with that, his 3.90 career FIP and yo-yo'ing between 1 and 3 fWAR seasons is only valuable insofar that he's cost controlled.

              Benintendi is the headliner. Kopech has one of the better heaters in minor league baseball and has a floor of stud 8th inning guy. Chavis is a wild card and Swihart gives them someone they can use right away at a position of need--I wouldn't exactly call Swihart an "offense-first" catcher that can't hit, either--he's actually quite adequate-to-good defensively.

              By the way, isn't it amazing how quickly Red Sox Nation has turned on poor Blake Swihart? Only 306 MLB at bats and they can't get rid of him quickly enough just a year after wanting him rated 99 in every attribute in The Show.

                Yes it is. I haven't given up hopes on him but I feel the team has because of Vazquez. They sent Swihart down to AAA when Vazquez got called back and now are working him out in LF.

                Also what are everyone's thoughts on this proposal. I posted a couple weeks ago but it got lost in that awful Brantley discussion. I know Gamecocks said I needed more but I wanted to hear others thoughts.

                Benintendi, Espinoza, E-Rod +. With the plus including Shaw, Sam Travis for Goldschmidt. The DBacks are getting 2 top organizational five prospects, a good corner IF that would replace Goldy on the main roster right away. A young lefty that showed some promise last year and a couple lottery tickets. And I would be more than willing to change out Espinoza for Devers if I would need to. Which would make it 2 top 3 prospects in our organization.

                  I don't think that's enough value for Goldy. I think Moncada needs to be in there and I also don't think it's realistic at any rate with the D'Backs regime as it is and how they value their veterans.

                    I want others to answer too but I just did the math. From 2016-2019 Gold is owed $40.1. If he averages 6WAR the next 4 years he would have a surplus value of $151.9 million dollars. That is just absurd. I don't even think Moncada + Benintendi + Devers would be enough. The package it would take would make heads roll

                      All this talk about Freddie Freeman...the guy he really reminds me of is John Olerud. I want to see Freddie wear his batting helmet in the field to test this further.

                        Oh I know it's not realistic I was just looking for fair value. The only way Goldy leaves is either in FA or when he is old and on a huge contract that they are trying to move.

                          Oooook

                          1. Freeman + Teheran !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!= Miggy + willis
                          2. Teheran != valuable
                          3. Half of these players != valuable which makes this unnecessarily complex
                          4. Benintendi + Espinoza + Owens + Swihart for Freeman + crap might almost be as bad as the Miller trade (Benintendi > Swanson, Espinoza >>> Blair, Swihart > Inciarte, Owens >> nothing, Freeman >>>>> Miller)

                          Teheran to Boston would most likely be centered around Owens + something appealing. JBJ maybe. Freeman would be interesting. They would push for Benintendi or Moncada. I assume the Sox would counter with Espinoza, hoping to land in the middle on Devers.
