Very difficult to compare the two when every NBA court is essentially the same and every MLB ballpark is different. Also factor in day/night, seasons, open and closed roofs, minor league and classic stadiums, there's a lot that NBA2K doesn't have to deal with.

Something is off with the graphics. It doesn't look sharp, the colours don't pop, some fonds appear really blocky, like the good old Commodore 64 days. I don't know, but something is really off. The grass looks super flat, the graphic with the baserunners is way too big. I can't say it is a step better then MLB 15, infact, I think it is a step back graphics wise.
Animations are cool, gameplay as well, but it lacks compared to graphics like NBA2K16. It almost is cartoonish.

I think the colors not popping is mostly a product of the game being overbuilt in certain eras, in relation to how powerful the system is. The grass in particular looks washed out and dull because if they made it look rich and lush the game would probably be completely unstable. That's my guess anyway.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 16 Has Officially Arrived, Post Your Impressions Here
I certainly appreciate the response.
I gave it a shot. I'm currently using an Insignia until I get my Visio back (it's sitting on a moving truck) and made sure it was in game mode. While it seems to make the game move a little smoother (reduced some flickering), it doesn't seem to have made much of a difference with the timing. I'm even late on pitches in Home Run Derby.
Maybe this issue is all for naught and things will drastically improve when I get my stuff back, but in the meantime it's certainly frustrating; especially since everything else plays normally. I popped in FIFA earlier and all my passing, shooting, and penalty shots are spot on.
Maybe I'm just getting too old.
Again, appreciate the help. Thank you.
You may want to try this simple fix, it worked to solve the lag problem for me after everything else failed.
- Start a normal game
- Turn TV off, wait 5-10 seconds and then turn TV back on
- Try pitching meter to test lag
I almost returned my TV (LG LED 55 inch) because of the lag in The Show. After searching Google, I set my TV input to Game mode but that didn't work. Next, I changed the input label to PC, as some had suggested, but that didn't work either. By accident, I discovered that if I turn my TV on and off while the game was running, the lag was eliminated. I'm assuming that it's something with the TV correctly interfacing with input settings, almost like a PC reboot.
The lag made any game with a meter (The Show- pitching/hitting, Madden- FGs, NBA2K- shooting) unplayable but this simple fix worked for me. Hope this helps.Comment

Oh man, SIU Carbondale what is up! That is the local college team I grew up rooting for. Those two sweet sixteen trips were so awesome. Cannot believe I found a Saluki fan here.
Glad people are posting about the runner checks, felt kinda like an idiot.
And totally agree about the look of the game. Seems like there’s a film. Matt carpenter has some real redness to his arms.

1) I am not crazy about the design decision to not show a players season stats in every AB. After their first AB it will only show how they did in that particular game (eg- 1-3 single run scored) but no BA HR's RBI anymore. Not a good design decision IMO. Baseball is about seeing my guys stats....often.
Hopefully this is patched. We will see! I imagine it can't be too difficult to put in.Comment

I'm just hoping that it's something to do with the Insignia. I'm currently inbetween places in a move - had a month and a half in temp corporate housing after we sold our house and before we get into our new one (tomorrow). So, hopefully when I have my tv back then all will be well with the world.
Thank you for the help.Comment

Meh... gave this one a shot. Got super stoked about a solution, but it didn't do the trick either.

FYI. Forgot to note that I had to have the TV in Game mode and then do the on/off trick. If I didn't have the TV in Game mode, the on/off trick didn't work.Comment

Really enjoying the game so far. Hit variety sticks out in my mind. Major plus. And the fact that defensive ratings are really taken into account this year. Game feels and looks great. And the mvp edition is one of the best covers I've ever had for a video game. Thanks SCEAComment

I noticed some minor frame rate issues when I played this game at home, but nothing serious. Today, though, I brought my PS4 over to my grandmas house and the game is suffering from serious frame rate and input lag issues. Im very late on 75% of my swings because the input lag is so bad. It wasn't like this at my house. Borderline unplayable.PSN:Xplisit21

Re: MLB The Show 16 Has Officially Arrived, Post Your Impressions Here
The small little circles representing energy are killing my eyes. I turned on the zoom feature in the accessibility section of the PS4 system menu, but I wish they would make them bigger.
I didn't know how much I would miss the energy bars.
I've been having a lot of bad luck, not seeing precision input in play, not seeing how much defense matters. Relatively low sample size, and the game is still great, but I'm not seeing it yet.
Same with umpire personality. I see a cutscene about an umpire who is very accurate, but I see the same kind of inaccurate calls I always see.Last edited by Spokker; 03-31-2016, 10:29 PM.Comment

Unplayable due to massive auto baserunning glitch (basically it doesn't work). That's my first impressions. Hit trajectories seemed more realistic if you want a good thing. When they patch base running I will play it game.Comment

For everyone saying the graphics look dull, have you tried playing with the picture settings on your tv. Maybe try changing color temperature from cold to warm?

It may be just me but I see 9-10 different Ramones' in each game, kind of odd because he's so recognizable, he kind of sticks out.Last edited by Don Jon; 03-31-2016, 11:03 PM.Bucs, Lighting, Rays,Comment
