Re: Stuttering during gameplay?
If you do, BE SPECIFIC. There's already a bug listing for framerate, but it only mentions something about celebrations in RTTS. The problem is much deeper than that. You'll just get locked as a duplicate if you only say "Frame rate is bad" or something like that.Last edited by bcruise; 03-29-2016, 02:56 PM.Comment

Re: Stuttering during gameplay?
My best advice is to post the bug on the official MLB The Show forums and be as granular as possible (when does it happen, when doesn't it happen, what mode, etc., not unlike Seancefc's post).Comment

like I said, I never really noticed it much until I started playing the other baseball game.Comment

Re: Stuttering during gameplay?
I don't think it's a bug. It's just that they decided on a making 30 fps game.
Personally I prefer an unlocked frame rate and letting it fluctuate between 30 and 60, but locking a frame rate at 30 is a common choice among developers.Comment

Where was it said that they decided to lock it at 30? Not that I don't believe you, it just doesn't make sense to me for them to do that.Comment

Re: Stuttering during gameplay?
Well then, it must be a perception issue. There are some people saying there is no stuttering vs. others who say there is. The first step in troubleshooting a problem is determining what the variables are. Obviously the game is the same between all systems and we're all on PS4s. The only variables here are monitor/TV and the people themselves.

Is not something that bothers me but I do see it. Others are more vocal because it bothers them
But the issue has nothing to do with tv or monitor. Is a game performance issueComment

Re: Stuttering during gameplay?
15 looked great and didn't have these issues. Graphical improvements for 16 aren't significant enough to justify the framerate drop. What's the point in making something look good if you can't enjoy it because it moves as though you're blinking really fast.Comment

Re: Stuttering during gameplay?
It's not like it never hits 60 FPS though - during some replays and in replay mode it still looks like 60 at times. But I've yet to see that level of smoothness during gameplay. So I don't think the game itself is really "locked" at 30, per se.
At this point I do believe it was a conscious decision to sacrifice framerate for not having the gameplay graphics downgrade, though.Last edited by bcruise; 03-29-2016, 03:31 PM.Comment

Re: Stuttering during gameplay?
Some people will simply not see the framerate issue. There is a definite framerate issue, I havent tested it, but im guessing the game runs at 30fps, and if I had known this, I would not have bought it. I am very sensitive to low framerates and I find this game hard to look at. The fielding cameras are brutal, not to mention I cant even find a fielding cam I like, and that might have to be with the fact that the framerate was so low they had to modify cams, because I cant find one that looks like MLB 15.
Batting is a pain in the ***, with how good the new fisheye cam is, the framerate literally ruins it if your eyes can see it. I use the MLB 15 batting cam and it's still there, but better.
At some point, these sports gaming companies need to stop adding graphical effects that affect game quality. Its ridiculous to me. The field looks like utter crap because they had to dumb it down to keep the framerate from getting too low.
I'm actually quite disappointed so far.TB Lightning | Liverpool | Panathinaikos | Toronto FC

Nowhere - we're just inferring it.

Re: Stuttering during gameplay?
I gotta admit, all of this talk of framerate issues has me a bit concerned. Guess I'll find out when I get home tonight.
I was "okay" with the cutscene dips in 14/15, I figured if anything it might improve a bit for 16. But if you guys are saying it's actually gotten worse, or worse yet -- is now capped at 30 -- well, that is not good.
And yes, framerate is very much a perception issue. Some people don't see the big deal, others do. For me it sticks out like a sore thumb, especially when the camera changes and the framerate suddenly takes a massive hit. And while I realize you can't compare apples to oranges, it's a bit disheartening to go back to earlier PS3-era baseball games -- namely Pro Yakyuu Spirits and The Show -- and see everything running so smoothly, knowing that that may not become a reality for the PS4.www.heyimbill.com | sports poster art and other cool stuffComment

Re: Stuttering during gameplay?
Honestly, the other really jarring frame rate drops that interrupt my level of enjoyment are those that take place while actively fielding a ground ball or fly ball.... throwing the first... etc...
That should be smooth.
It doesn't happen often while batting, but fielding and cut scenes are in rough shape.Comment

Re: Stuttering during gameplay?
As another person noted, everyone is getting the same effects. My guess is that people that play games on high end PCs are the ones that notice as they are used to 60-100 fps regularly. People that play on consoles regularly have gotten used to 30 fps and it doesn't bother them.Comment

Re: Stuttering during gameplay?
It's never been 60 fps and it definitely isn't this year. They claim it is all the time but it's nowhere near. There are times where the ball seems to approach 60 fps but cutscenes look about 20 fps.

The framerate doesnt appear to be capped @ 30, it just hovers there much of the time. It does, in certain instances appear to get close to 60, but some of the cutscenes are low like 20.TB Lightning | Liverpool | Panathinaikos | Toronto FC
